Release Note:

Veteran ambient/techno act System 7 have announced details of a new nine-track album, to be released through their own A-Wave imprint.

Recorded in Berlin, Up is a long-player influenced by the time Miquette Giraudy and Steve Hillage spent in the city. "One of the things we've noticed about the current techno scene in Berlin is that the club crowds tend to be quite joyful and happy, while at the same time totally digging the specialist Berlin techno sound in an educated way," said Hillage ahead of the release. "This positivity we found very inspiring and has directly led to us titling our new album Up."

Aside from inspiration, their time in Berlin also led to collaboration with A Guy Called Gerald, resulting in two new album tracks, "PositiveNoise" and "I Seem To Be a Verb." The duo also enlisted the help of Japanese artist Yuji Katsui on electric violin, creating the Brazilian-flavoured "Berimbau." Two remixes feature on the release too—one of Josh Wink's classic "Dolphin Smack," the other a second take on System 7's own remix of "Falling," by Funky Gong.
