Satoshi Tomiie back on Renaissance

Latest compilation on Renaissance is a clubby mix from Saw Recordings chief Satoshi Tomiie. 'The Masters Series Part 9' hits shelves mid-March.

Tomiie's latest effort follows on from last year's '3D' compilation also on Renaissance, which included home, club and studio mixes. This latest effort, however, is strictly a club mix. "I really wanted to create an accurate portrayal of my club sets," explains Tomiie. "I felt it important that the segue throughout each disc worked, almost as if they were two seventy-minute songs in their own right."

Tomiie got his break in New York's Def Mix studios making piano-led vocal house in the early nineties alongside David Morales and Frankie Knuckles, but later reinvented himself as a progressive DJ during the upswing of tribal progressive. At that time he also set up his own label Saw, which has since served as an outlet for proggy experimentation with tech house, electrohouse and more recently even minimal.

The double CD includes deep house, progressive, techno and electrohouse from artists such as D'Julz, Guy Gerber, Radio Slave and Marc Romboy as well as tracks from Saw artists Jim Rivers and Nick Chacona. The mix also includes a new Sasse rerub of Tomiie's 'Darkroomboot', made with proggy minimal duo Audiofly under their new Opus Ink guise.
