WHAT IS DUBSTEP AND WHERE IS IT GOING? (The Short Answer)

Thought I would share this with you guys.. it's part of a very long, ongoing debate on Dubstep Forum.. and this image came up to kind of explain how folks (producers/DJs) are feeling right now.. and what we can expect as we enter 2010.

That should make things clear, no??  ;D

yeah I agree, no longer wobbly crap.. I mean, let's listen to Kryptic Minds tunes, and u'll understand.. *piss*

Actually... if you look at what's popular where:

UK: Really love "Future Garage" tunes... Skream, Joy Orbison, Luke Envoy, Planas, Untold etc.

USA: Still love wobble!! Caspa, Rusko, Emalkay, Borgore etc.

But as we get into 2010 it may even be that we'll see US producers making wobble, and UK producers making future garage. It's getting almost like that now, anyways.

Wobble was certainly fun while it lasted.. but doesn't have longevity. The term "Brostep" was invented to describe this sound.. as it was music purely for the BRO's.. ie: there's nothing in there for the ladies..  ;D

Future Garage and the Dubstep you'll be hearing in 2010 definitely has plenty that the girls can get down to... and about time.  *bgs*

I personally liked where boxcutter is heading. Some Dubstep producers uses the "Woob" to overcompensate their insecurities on their compositions, akin to a bodybuilder who use too much steroids. Boxcutter's last effort "Arecibo Message" flexes his IDM roots rather than over killing it with the usual "wobbles". I also loved Joy Orbison's "She dressed in her best" single; a somewhat more "dance-able" version of burial's songs with a wider pallet of emotions in it ( can't help but noticed the appregios; a reminiscent of the minimalist techno genres) All in all, wobble or not, the fact that the dubstep scene is expanding its horizon in such fast rate is the reason why I love it..
Anarchy. Now

I also love the US dubstep which influenced with hiphop and rap...

yeah we''ll see

Think you coined it there, Niang... the whole reason I like Dubstep is because it is more dynamic than ANY OTHER GENRE right now.. it is changing and evolving on an almost daily basis..

And that's really something that I hope folks here will catch onto.. you can't sleep on it.. or before you know it..it's altogether a different animal.

Big ups the scene in general, whichever way it's headed.

wow... dubstep...

baru ngerti.. drum n bass without the drums, speed garage without the kick. 2x4 rhythm 90 bpm.
dark, bouncy, sangat jamaican & sangat robotic... ternyata sangat danceable. setelah trance, electro, techno, drum n bass.... it ends up with dubstep, man kids nowadays became getting minimalistic....

ternyata manusia masih bisa nyiptain genre baru, ga cuma pengulangan dari genre masa lalu. hebat. its like the discovery of ipods... keep going man...

yea, man. enough with the wobble ;D

Innit.. as we enter 2010.. Dubstep's a whole new, more intelligent beast. If you haven't come down to PROPER yet, please have a look as we're at 365 Kemang every month! That's the best way to work out where the scene is headed...

And if you have been down, thanks for the support!! The last event was great!

kalau UK hiphop tuh lebih garage sih..

Now, you're thinking of Grime. UKHH is still very much Hip-Hop. Big difference between P Money / Wiley (for example) and Jehst, or Karl Hinds / Roots Manuva.

@DTX: All good, fam. That Heist thing's killer. So is the new Autonomic stuff.. Skream's 180bpm Halfstep is ridiculous. Love what's happening with the scene right now.

And yeah.. a lot of the new Joker stuff, and stuff on L2S and Tectonic is being labelled as "Neo-RnB" or "Nu-Skool RnB"... so you can definitely make that connection with a lot of the newer, more mellow vibes. Look up Deadboy, for example. Also Starkey's recent works.. particularly his "Street Bass Vol. 2"..

No UK or US! .. its all about Jamaican rasta vibe dubstep! badman sound!  :P  *piss*
