BIOGRAPHY

Chicken Lips are DJ/Producers Andy Meecham & Dean Meredith and co-hort/DJ Steve 'Fella' Kotey. Andy and Dean started the Lips project for Kingsize Records in 1999 as a progression from Andy's solo work as Sir Drew. Sir Drew had come to Kingsize after the demise of Athletico and Dean was at the time recording as part of Psychedelia Smith. If you dig back a little further into their past you find that the pair were once Bizarre Inc. who recorded for Vinyl Solution having 3 UK top 10 hits in the early nineties with 'Playing with Knives', 'Such a Feeling' & 'I'm Gonna Get Ya' and travelled the world on tour not to mention remixing for the likes of Madonna. Over a decade later and with a major change in sound they now keep themselves busy with their work for Kingsize as well as their recordings for Session as ZeeFunkg and for DC recordings as Big200.

The Lips used to DJ together as a pair and held a very busy DJ schedule especially over the last year playing the length and breath of the UK and guesting in countries including Italy, USA, Germany, France, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway etc etc etc. This led to the joining of Steve 'Fella' Kotey to the act, representing the Chicken Lips DJ sound. Dean continues with DJ'ing in the UK, Andy now focuses on the Lips studio and Steve takes the sound of the Lips to the world, doing most international bookings.

Chicken Lips have to date had 8 singles with the label and 2 full length albums, with a new artist album, remix album and further singles in the pipeline. Their releases have included remixes by/of Silicone Soul, Justin Robertson, Maurice Fulton, Idjut Boys, Medicine & Bentley Rhythm Ace. They have had top 10 chart placements in the DMC Buzz chart, the Music Week CoolCuts and the DJ Beats chart. Radio play has come from the likes of Pete Tong, Steve Lamacq, Mary Anne Hobbs, Annie Nightingale, James Hyman and Arthur Baker. Dj support been outstanding with major supporters including James Lavelle, Lottie, Touche, Groove Armada, Andrew Weatherall, Idjut Boys to name but a few.

On the remix front the guys have completed, or are working on, remixes for Underworld, FC Kahuna, Justin Robertson, Mo'Wax, Playgroup, Stereo MC's, Utah Saints, Soul Mekanik, Maurice Fulton , Nile plus loads more.

They have had their music sync'd to a major international advert and licensed to compilations all over the world.

They have had extensive press coverage around the release of both their albums and have had artists features and profiles in magazines including Mixmag, DJ, Seven, Jockey Slut, Sleaze Nation, Wax, IDJ, M8 etc etc.

Reviews have been more than favourable as well with them picking up numerous single of the month accolades from magazines including the NME.

2002 saw Azuli re-releasing their massive 'He Not In' single with a remix from Mutiny.

The future is looking bright for the Lips with plans for vocal collaborations for the third album, some exciting new material in the pipeline, and a enough DJ work to keep them permanently on the road.
