Cat: MM003

Volume 3 of the Moodswings Vinyl Collection (and possibly the best yet) features the sublimely deep electro tinged vocal track 'Better Days' and a stormin' energetic & atmospheric club dub coming in three parts with a full on percussive workout taking things into 5th gear towards the end. Also featured is an instrumental version of 'Capture Part 2' a deep & dubby track with gorgeous guitar, strings and trippy fx.

Selected reviews

Volume three of this stunning series brings an electro-tinged edge to the sound, using vocals and good arrangements in ÂŒBetter Days (deep mix)¹. The female vocals set the track up wonderfully with a warm, sultry feel, leaving the beats to do the work on your feet. ÂŒCapture Part 2¹ opts for a dubby mood, slowing the tempo to a late night trot. Atmospheric and chilled, it uses the vocals again, this time with plenty of filtering to give that spacious vibe. ÂŒBetter Days (Club Dub)¹¹ on the flip side, lifts the tempo once again, with cracking chord changes and stepping keys. The vocals are used more as a tool in the mechanic of the sound in this mix ÂŒBetter Days (Club Beats)¹ round things off with a good percussive work out. A  side wins it for me, but the b-side with appeal to the harder house heads.

Untitled Music

The third vinyl installment in the series, featuring remixes of selected
tracks from Mettle Music's very fine second album 'Moodswings', finds the Manchester duo in top form. 'Better Days', for me, was one of the standout vocal house cuts on the album and this vinyl release is long overdue. The 'Deep Mix' of 'Better Days' features the trademark Mettle Music polish. Smart & snappy from the get go, this track really stands out because the vocal is of such a high quality and the production is superbly deep and laid back. The 'Club Dub' adds a bit more oomph with some cool live percussion adding a distinctive club flavour while the vocal is chopped and looped to heighten the overall mass appeal. Fans of producers like DJ Buck, Mateo & Matos, Miguel Migs and the like will lap this up. 'Capture Part 2 - Instrumental' rounds off the package nicely with a light reggae influence creeping in under the beats and acoustic guitars. Sadly the vocal doesn't feature here. You'll have to check out the album for that one. All in all a very strong release that will appeal to fans old and new.
DHN - Darren Nugent

If it's quality house music you're after, Mettle Music is the place to go. "Better Days" is superb in its Deep Mix, the warm keys & bubbling bassline combine with the sultry vox, creating a gorgeous slice of real house music in the style of early Naked Music. The Club Dub comes in at a whopping 10 mins, going into real live drum territory towards the end. Finally, the downtempo "Capture Part 2" rounds off this release with some beautiful laid-back summer vibes.
