When dance music re-crossed the pond from the UK to the US (having first been concocted in underground urban centers including New York, Detroit and Chicago) it was guys like Jimmy Van M who created a new buzz over a new kind of sound. Over the last 15 year or so, he's been in the American electronic music vanguard, promoting dance music firstly through his Balance booking agency (now known as TCA) and secondly through his pivotal role in the formation of Delta Heavy Tour. His work has proved seminal in popularizing electronic dance music through the states. And then there's his DJing. Van M was a Twilo resident for four years and a participant in the Northern Exposure American Tour (1994), Global Gathering (2004), the first ever Creamfields Russia and the 25,000 strong NYE Millennium Celebration in Melbourne, Australia to name check just a few. He maintains a reputation as a particularly versatile DJ, as comfortable dropping the 6am deepness as he is throwing down peak-time bangers to a crowd of ravening ravers. He learned his craft not only on his global quests, but most crucially at his home address in Orlando, Florida back in the day, when the who-s who of American electronic music would regularly drop by for his legendary after parties. It was here that he developed his richly layered mixing technique, which you will be able to witness at 66.
