The results are finally in! Over 30,000 of you voted for our inaugural UK's Top 40 DJs Poll and a seriously diverse section of DJs covering house, techno, electro, trance, hard dance, breaks, D&B, dubstep, hip-hop and all inbetween have all been commended by you lot and your pleasingly wide tastes!
 
75% of the DJs you voted for were from the UK, with trance and progressive house DJs (or thereabouts) dominating the Top 10.
 
However our winner stands out from that crowd and couldn't be more deserving. Erol Alkan is a lynchpin in the electro scene that unites huge names like Justice, Soulwax and Digitalism, whose sound is undoubtedly one of the most popular  globally in 2008 – uniting both underground and more mainstream audiences with the dynamic crossover sounds that mixes pop and indie with gritty electro and techno to devastating effect. While Justice are probably the biggest thing to emerge in dance music in the last 5 years, he was one of their earliest supporters, and while running his infamous Trash parties at The End in London, he brought the likes of LCD Soundsystem and Klaxons to the limelight for some of their earliest appearances in the country. Erol, we salute you! Someone give him and MBE.
