I'm going to be visiting Indonesia from the US for about 20 days and I want to check out the nightlife.. (Dec 26th - Jan 14).
the styles of music I like lean toward deep techno, some house and minimal music (less vocals).  what specific clubs/venues offer that kind of music?

i've been trying to find dj's who have posted stuff in the "Local Remixes" and "Original Release" sections that I like so that I could maybe go see them.. any suggestions??

here's some stuff I like and maybe you can help me find something good:
DVS1 - DVS1 Klockworks 05 Searching
Bruno Prosanto (find a set here: http://www.beyondbooking.com/podcast.asp)
Oliver Koletzki
Italoboyz (some tracks here: http://www.myspace.com/italoboyz)
Derek Plaslaiko (some sets here: http://plaslaiko.net/me/)

In what city you're gonna stay? if you're in Jakarta, there will be a lot of nightlife places for you to see..

Cheers

for the first week I'm going to be in Jakarta (Dec 26th- Jan 3rd).  I won't have time to check out a bunch of different clubs so if there are specific clubs offering techno/minimal/etc, it would be great to hear about them!

I can only help you with some places names such as: X2 [in Plaza Senayan], Stadium [in Kota], Immigrant [in Plaza Indonesia], Blow Fish, Dragon Fly, etc.

As far as i know, there's no club in Jakarta who specialize only in one music genre. It depends on the DJ who's spinning that night.

Maybe other RVLX member can give you better info  *piss* *piss* *piss*

Temans, bantuin nih kasih info ke turis mancanegara  ;D ;D ;D ;D

If you want some deep driving minimal Techno, then Microchip will be the boys you should seek. Go check their schedule at www.myspace.com/microchipmusicbox...

As my friend have mentioned above, those are the clubs that are most likely to be the most hippest spot in town...

Immigrant is good enough for some mash-up jackin' house
X2 is a bit heavier to trance
Stadium (only if you're an all-nighter)
Blowfish & Dragonfly also serve up some juicy House...

tell you what, why don't you pick up some local magazine like Premio Magazine, Area, Free! Magazine or Djakarta just to get your head together, on where should you go

Jakarta is full of nightlife craziness, just pick one and dive deeper ;)

nah tuh... lebih lengkap :D

@bigbluevan: you can get more info about events in Jakarta from http://www.ravelex.net/forum/index.php?board=19.0 and you also can get Time Out Jakarta magazine
