"Arseniy Somotov aka Digital Department has been making a name for himself not only in his Russian homeland but also in the global progressive house scene with his consistently good productions over the course of the last two years. Arseniy made his debut on OLD SQL Recordings with his 'Born Under The Sun' EP which was released in May of 2012 and he followed that up with a remix of Paul Key & Stanisha's 'The Universe Is Fractal' also seeing its release in May. Digital Department now returns to OLD SQL for his third overall appearance and a new single entitled 'Request' which comes with remixes from: Loquai, Viktor K and Esok.

The 'Request' single leads the release off with a big, bass heavy progressive groove. Big sonic sweeps and gated stabs build some nice energy before the first drop. Here a new melodic theme is slowly developed and as he track picks back up it becomes hauntingly beautiful. Nice chord changes and plucky instrumentation lead to a cool break beat transition before a gorgeous melodic finale takes over!

The first remix is supplied by Loquai who is slowly racking up his OLD SQL discography with this being his 6th overall appearance. For his 'Request' interpretation Loquai has provided a meaty bass line that comes with a dynamic, floor shaking rumble and a percussive groove that's bound for the dance floor. Loquai has also put a greater emphasis on the melodic and hypnotic elements from the original for what results in a smooth emotional journey which complements the original really well.

Viktor K returns to OLD SQL for his fourth overall appearance and provides the next remix. The Russian producer has delivered a delightfully drummy groove that comes with a wicked hypnotic vibe. Soft angelic pads accent the piece and as the track reaches the first drop a cool section of glassy sounding synths meld perfectly with the hypnotic surroundings. The main break builds even more on the subtle melodic structures and presents a dreamy second half which closes the record out quite nicely.

The final mix on the package is provided by Esok who is making his production debut here on OLD SQL. Erick Gustianto aka Esok is a new talent from Indonesia and he's a producer you'll be hearing a lot more of him shortly as some of his new originals are also signed for release on OLD SQL. Esok's melodic breaks interpretation of 'Request' closes the package out with a wonderfully serene and melodic vibe which puts another cap on a great OLD SQL release."
