REVIEW DARI TRANCE.NU ( http://www.trance.nu/v3/review_show.php?id=1554 ) :

   B.E.N. - Raised

Total Digital, a sub-division of Bonzai/Banshee Worx are steadily building a strong reputation with solid releases being supported by the big-name progressive trance DJs. Kicking off their releases in 2007 is a track from the label head himself, B.E.N. entitled Raised, which comes with a bumper pack of remixes.

First up is a mix from the mighty Digital Blonde from J00F Recordings. Needless to say this has been supported heavily by John 00 Fleming and has all the hallmarks of the distinctive J00F sound. An eerily atmospheric intro gives way to a pumped up beat and rolling bassline providing plenty of drive and power, building into a dense wall of sound. A key change maintains the interest as the track steamrollers into an epic, wide screen break. The brilliant stabbed lead is introduced with excellent timing, not dominating the track but serving well to keep the energy flowing, however it soon drops away returning to the original elements, but with one more reprise before the end. This is another superb, high quality, intelligent piece of trance from this production genius.

Next up is the Ronny K. Voice Remix, a name I know nothing about. This mix has been picked by the likes of Talla 2XLC and DJ Choose which gives you an idea of what it's all about. Power, energy, drive, and a kick that initially leaves you feeling winded with its hardness, the razor sharp synth lines contrast neatly with more angelic melodies. He makes good use of whispered vocal samples to heighten the dark atmosphere in a hugely euphoric break. Again, the mix veers away from the predictable and has a great flow to it, as well as being hard as nails. Sweet!

The other three mixes are again from artists I have heard nothing from before. The Altuna Mix is solid, produced in a pretty standard style that will appeal to uplifting trance fans and is a good alternative to the previous two mixes. The Phase2 Mix is similar, slightly more powerful with a bit more of edge to it, a pulsating bassline and a perfectly paced break keeping the energy levels flowing brilliantly. Last up is the Ambia Mix, the weakest of the three in my opinion with over-the-top euphoric synths and a twinkling piano breakdown.

Conclusion

This is a strong release for the Total Digital label, with a mix on here sure to suit all trance tastes. For more intelligent trance fans the Digital Blonde Mix is masterful, while if you like things a bit harder the Ronny K. Voice mix has a hell of a kick to it. The other three mixes cater for more standard trance fans, with the Altuna Mix being a smooth euphoric trancer and the Phase2 take packing in plenty of energy. Great release, well worth checking out.
