Underworld to score Danny Boyle’s ‘Frankenstein’

Almost 15 years on from providing Danny Boyle's film classic Trainspotting with its most iconic piece of music (Born Slippy – NUXX of course), Essex duo Underworld are once again teaming up with writer and director Danny Boyle to score the music for his stage adaptation of Mary Shelley's gothic novel Frankenstein, set to run at London's National Theatre in 2011.
 
According to The Guardian, the play is already in rehearsals, and Underworld frontman Karl Hyde has been hinting about their involvement on his blog. "Great day at Theatre. people, noises, music, spaces, inspiration unlikely direction" he wrote. "Shepherd's pie, meat with a hat, Hamlet in the dark. Walking alone with the river, taking air with luminous boats.
 
"People like tourist crows, don't notice me. Everyone drawn, excited to the light. Bars full, bell rings. They go in, we come out, drive East to Essex. Late night, behind the wheel, channel surf the radio. The wind screen a cinema screen, like when we were kids. The radio plays the score to the rhythm of lights slipping under our wheels. Then I look up to see a shooting star & smile."

He also said: "In Theatre the dance floor is full of seats." Deep. Could be interesting for sure.
