A Journey through Trance

Enjoy this overview!

2001

Perpetuous Dreamer- The Sound of Goodbye (Armin's Tribal Feel)
Armin made sure he recieved a well deserved name in the scene. Although he wasn't completely succesful yet, this track made it more possible. The Sound of Goodbye hit like a bomb and people were amazed by this track.

Iio- Rapture (Armin van Buuren remix)
A massive remix by Armin van Buuren. Rapture was already scoring everywhere but Armin scored with his own remix of the track. He is going to make it and many people agreed on that.

Rank 1- Awakening
Rank 1 already produced superb tracks for a long while and they are veterans. Awakening has become a classic and everyone enjoyed the track. A typical trance track with an epic melody.

Accadia- Into the Dawn (James Holden remix)
James Holden has his own, wierd sound. He does things no one else does. Into The Dawn is no exception. It is a deep, proggy track and it was well recieved.

Marco V.- Simulated
Another Dutch talent. Marco V was already in the bussiness for quite a while and Simulated was a massive production. Broadcasted on TV with a videoclip, spinned everywhere and Marco V once again proved that he is a man of quality.

Sonic Inc.- A Taste of Summer
A bit commercial track, but nonetheless a great summer track. Armin spinned it a lot of times and many DJ's followed and so this track became a hit.

Ocean Lab- Clear Blue Water (Ferry Corsten remix)
A Ferry remix of an Oceanlab a.k.a. Above & Beyond production. Ferry already made huge productions in the past and this track showed that his typical style of trance is widely appreciated.

Overview of 2001:
This year was the year of outstanding trance tracks. Trance was going on a tour of succes and veterans showed that they still had the qualities like they always had. Armin wanted to be part of the top too and produced some tracks and remixes which helped him with that. Trance was a music-genre for the ones who simply loved it. There was no room for fakers, because trance is the shit.

2002:

Paul Oakenfold - Southern Sun (DJ Tiesto Remix)

Paul Oakenfold is a huge name. Southern Sun was a good production but Tiesto made this track even bigger. Featured on his own In Search of Sunrise 3 compilation, it became a great success.

Gouryella - Ligaya
A production by Ferry Corsten & Tijs Verwest, although it is very likely that only Ferry produced this track because Tijs Verwest would be kicked out of Gouryella later on. A big track for Ferry and he showed that he is the one who is capable of producing trance which is thé trance.

Solar Stone - Solar Coaster
This track was feautured on the Tiesto compilation In Search of Sunrise 3 and it is a beautiful track. Stunning melody and lyrics you will never forget. This made the list of great tracks by Solar Stone even longer.

DJ Tiesto - Lethal Industry
Tijs Verwest is an innovative producer and some people would have doubts about that in the future. Fact is, he is amazingly well-known artist and with Lethal Industry he made it clear to the world that he wanted to be known. Lethal Industry was a very unique track and no one has ever managed to produce something similair to that.

Solid Sessions - Janeiro (Armin van Buuren Remix)
Armin van Buuren was already on the road to the top with his A State of Trance show but this track made it easier for him. It was a track like no one ever heard and the vocals were superb.

Oceanlab ft. Justine Suissa - Sky Falls Down (Armin van Buuren Remix)
Armin was producing quality tracks like a mad-man. He remixed the huge production of Oceanlab a.k.a. Above & Beyond and made a trademark for himself. Good, quality, amazing trance.

Armin van Buuren ft. Ray Wilson - Yet Another Day
Armin teamed-up with Ray Wilson to make another hit for his road to the top. Yet Another Day was feautured on his artist album and it was amazingly well recieved. Armin had made it to the top.

Overview of 2002:
The year 2002 was a year for the new talents. Also the year for Dutch talents. Armin van Buuren, Tiesto. They were making sure they were being heard and produced massive tracks. Trance was becoming more popular and it got a typical, popular sound. People were very curious what A
welcome to my weekend

2003:

Motorcycle - As The Rush Comes
This was a huge, huge, huge hit. Another production by Gabriel & Dresden, combined with the vocals of Jes Brieden. Armin van Buuren made an incredible remix of this track but the original had the most succes.

Andain - Beautiful Things (Gabriel & Dresden Unplugged Mix)
Seems like G&D just couldn't get enough of it and decided to produce another, huge track. Josh Gabriel is part of Andain and he made the remix together with Dave Dresden. Beautiful remix of a beautiful tune, that's why it's probably called Beautiful Things.

Agnelli & Nelson presents Ultra - Holding On To Nothing (Club Mix)
A huge trance track. Produced by the, already, famous Agnelli & Nelson. Trance as can be and the track recieved massive reactions. Definitely a great example of fine trance.

DJ Tiesto - Traffic
Tiesto needs to introduction. Traffic was just another step to the top and it became a monster track. Spinned everywhere and it was a huge, commercial track. People who never listened trance suddenly came in touch with trance because of Tiesto.

Scott Bond vs Solar Stone - 3rd Earth
A collaboration of two huge names. 3rd Earth is an epic, fantastic track. Melody is great, vocals are like angels and the track is simply divine.

Paul van Dyk ft Hemstock & Jennings - Nothing But You (Paul van Dyk Club Mix)
A track with an enormous success. Paul van Dyk also needs no introduction and his collaboration with Jennings worked out perfectly. It was spinned everywhere and still concidered as a superb track and one of PvD finest.

Firewall - Sincere
An amazing trance track. Typical, superb and quality trance. You want to let people know why they should be listening trance instead of RnB? Well, let them hear this tune and they will be convinced.

Overview of 2003:
In total, 2003 was a superb year. Lots of quality tracks and many tracks which defined trance. Tiesto made it possible that the bigger audience also got a taste of trance. If everyone liked that is another question. Trance was still as trance is this year and there were few different styles but not any major differences. Trance was still going strong.
welcome to my weekend

2004:

Above & Beyond - No One On Earth (Gabriel & Dresden Vocal Mix)
An amazing, huge, unbelievable, incredible track. This track was outnumbering every other track and the succes of this track is huge. The original was good, but the new Gabriel & Dresden mix was something else. G&D were showing the rest that they are at the top by remixing this track.

Adam White & Andy Moor presents White Room - White Room (Original Mix)
Then there was Whiteroom. A collaboration project of Adam White and Andy Moor. Both producers with enough quality and talent and when they combined, an amazing production took place. White Room was hammered by every DJ on the whole planet and it was such an enormous succes. They had settled their names already, Adam White and Andy Moor.

Solid Globe - Sahara (Original Mix)
A great production by producer Solid Globe. A fine taste of trance and a quality trademark of trance. Amazing melody and an instant succes.

Tilt - The World Doesn't Know (Original Mix)
Tilt is a project of three producers and Andy Moor is also part of the group. His collabs and tracks seem to be everywhere. This production by Tilt was something different than normally is produced. It had a typical Andy Moor sound and a superb melody. A more slowly, proggy track considering the rest of the tracks which were being produced. A huge hit.

Perry O'Neil - Wave Force
Perry is a producer from The Netherlands. He produces various styles. Sometimes the more housy stuff and sometimes the innovative, unique progressive sound. This track is a innovative, unique progressive track. It was feautured on Universal Religion 2004 and this track was a big succes for Perry.

The Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia 2004 (Ferry Corsten Remix)
Ferry Corsten is a veteran if it comes to the dance scene. His remix of a 2004 version of Synaesthesia by The Thrillseekers made sure that people of this generation also knew it. It became a huge track and reactions were amazing.

Interstate - I Found You (Original Mix)
A newcomer and what a newcomer indeed. This track is too beautiful to describe. Loved by everyone and a succes on every radio-show. Huge melody and the vocals made it even more beautiful.

Overview of 2004:
This year was a great year for trance. Superb productions and this year kept the quality of trance flowing. A few different styles were introduced. Just listen to I Found You, Wave Force and more. This was the beginning of a different road to trance.
welcome to my weekend

2005:

Above & Beyond vs Andy Moor - Air For Life
This collaboration just couldn't fail. Above & Beyond have a huge list of hits and Andy Moor is also at the top. No wonder this was a major hit in the trance scene. This track was a combination of various styles and the vocals made it into the perfect track.

Armin van Buuren with Gabriel & Dresden - Zocalo
Another amazing collaboration. Armin van Buuren with Gabriel & Dresden. The name says
it all. Zocalo was a big hit and it was a great, loungy track. A combined style of G&D and Armin van Buuren made this into a huge track.

Markus Schulz Featuring Departure - Without You Near (Gabriel & Dresden Remix)
It seems like 2005 was the year of collabs. Markus Schulz ft Depature was another succesful collaboration. The remix by Gabriel & Dresden made the charts and it was being spinned everywhere. The vocals fit perfectly into this track and it was just a killer track.

Mike Foyle Versus Signalrunners - Love Theme Dusk (Mike's Broken Record Mix)
Well, what a suprise. Another collab! This time, the collaboration of Mike Foyle and the Signalrunners. This was a huge track and the piano part of the track did it all for this production. Smooth piano and amazing beats made this into a succes.

Jonas Steur - Castamara
A newcomer in the dance scene. Jonas Steur, a Belgian producer with a lot of potential. His first succes was Castamara and it was played everywhere. A totally different, unique and new style by this Belgian.

Mark Otten - So Serene (Menno De Jong's Fierce Dub)
Mark Otten already produces some amazing tracks but So Serene did it for him. A Dutch producer and he makes our country proud. But, there is more. Another fellow from Holland, Menno de Jong, decides to make his version of the track. This track made it to a bigger succes than the original.

Way Out West - Killa (Orkidea Remix)
Orkidea. Way Out West. Both names which are already widely known. But this remix by Orkidea of Way Out West's Killa granted Orkidea more status. A smashing hit and respected by everyone.

Overview of 2005:
In total, 2005 was an innovative year. New styles were introduced, for example the style by the Belgian producer Jonas Steur. Futhermore, already widely known produces made sure they were to remain like that and produced huge tracks. It was also the year of the collaboration, because most top tunes were collabs. The next year would definitely bring changes in trance based on these productions.
welcome to my weekend

2006:

Andy Moor vs Orkidea - YearZero (Andy Moor's First Light Mix)
This was a huge tune in the year 2006. Amazing production and a typical Andy Moor style. This track was wanted by everyone for a long time and when it was released everybody went nuts. Been hammered by a big amount of DJ's and you could, can, hear it everywhere. This marked a new style of trance. The more progressive, melodic side of trance.

Armin van Buuren - Control Freak (Sander van Doorn Remix)
Sander van Doorn was a newcomer and has made it to the top now. He has his own typical style and it is being recieved with much enthusiasm. Many DJ's and trance-lovers state that SvD is going to be the next best thing in 2007. This remix was a smashing hit and it's a great production.

Amnesia Brothers ft. Jennifer Rene - Louder (Original Mix)
An amazing, unique track produced by Arturo & Jose Amnesia a.k.a. the Amnesia Brothers. The lovely voice of Jennifer Rene made the package complete and it was an instant hit the moment this track aired. It was being spinned everywhere and it is still going strong. The best introduction Jennifer Rene recieved, because after this track she made it.

Selu Vibra - Divine (Original Mix)
A powerful, energetic trance track. A track which showed how good trance can be and why trance is the best music there is. It was hammered by everyone and was one of the biggest productions of the year 2006. A trademark for trance.

Anna Nalick - Breathe (Blake Jarrel Remix)
Although Blake Jarrel wasn't unknown, his pop remixes made sure he became a name in the dance scene. His remix of Chasing Cars was a hit but this was also a huge hit. He established a typical style with these remixes and everyone loves it. Blake Jarrel is also said to be one of the successes in the new year.

DJ Shah presents Sunlounger - White Sand
This was the ultimate summer track. Shah made a name for himself with his balaeric style and the reactions on this track were amazing. Smooth beats with a loungy guitar and when you would close your eyes you would find yourself on a beach. Shah produces like there is no tomorrow and he is a big succes.

Cara Dillion versus 2 Devine - Black is the Colour (Coco and Green Remix)
A monster hit. Every DJ loved it, everyone spinned it. Basically, it was loved everywhere. This track introduced a new style of trance. The more techy and electro side of trance. A style which we will be seeing a lot in the new year, because it's the next step into trance.

Overview of 2006:
In total, 2006 was a succesful year of trance. It showed us some new styles and a lot of big hits. These new styles showed us a more techy, proggy and electro side of trance. These styles will definitely come back in the next year. Furthermore, a succesful year for new producers and a succesful year for already succesful producers. Like Mike Foyle, who already made a huge track in the year 2005. Same goes for Andy Moor, because his tracks are in top of the top lists of every last year. Succes, succes and, again, succes.
