Burial's "Untrue" is like watching a black and white 8 millimeter movie on a damp dark basement, or standing in a mist covered grassy hill, the morning after a stormy night. Or driving by yourself on a derelict back-road, in the middle of nowhere. Yet that movie your watching in that basement is your wedding documentation, catching the very essence of your 40 something life with your spouse. Or that misty hill were actually the land of your forefathers,
forgotten for years and revisited only because a close relative have died. Or maybe you were driving on that derelict back-road for a reunion with your family, the very one you were taken from since your childhood. In short, it's vocabulary of contradictions is richer than Bunga Cinta Lawra's collections of fake english accent. And believe me, that's rich. XD

Not much can be told about the artist him/herself, as the creator's identity mirrors his/her works mysteriousness. Some of the known fact about Burial is that he/she release his/her works through the Hyperdub label, the same label that releases works from the likes of Kode9, Pressure, and other influential names in the dub step scene. Also, he/she once said on an interview that "only five people knows that i create tunes". Kamana atuh mister ius..

Compared to other dub step releases, Burial's musics are somewhat more human to me, not only due to the analog and organic use of sound and voices that envelopes the whole tunes, but also through his/her use of melancholic yet heart-warming melodies. The crackle and pop of old records ads up to its lo-fi aesthetique that condtradict the complex yet subtle compositions. It's brooding bass lines and ghostly vocals that comes and goes like a bad fever, forebodes the dark times ahead, or a solace of past yearnings long forgotten. Yet it's also sweet and give you this feeling you got when you cuddle up on a bed, all warm and sleepy, while it's raining outside. So cuddle up, roll'em n smoke'em, and let the tunes drowning landscape soothe your aching soul. This is burial, your burial. And you can finally be at peace.

For a taste of Burial, here's a remix of Block Party's "Where's Home"
