'Madan', which went on to sell over 100,000 copies, and 'Rocking Music' featured on the frenchman's second album Suite. 'Rocking Music' established Martin's identity as an energetic,funk producer who experimented with electric vocals, something that was quite scarce in electro music at the time. Success in the U.K was quick to welcome him, BBC Radio 1 had the track on constant rotation and you could not escape the record in nightclubs. Far from sitting back and resting on the success of 'Rocking Music', Martin set about working on his following album, 'Hedonist.' The album was released in 2005 and tracks such as 'Everybody', 'Jealousy', 'Something Better' and 'Rejection' helped to make it a big success. Learning a lot from Arno Bani and Tristan Séguéla, Martin developed an interest in the visual elements to his music. He wrote the story of the video for "Jealousy" and finally directed "Rejection." "Rejection" proved to be a milestone as Martin decided to move away from the conventions of electro videos that had preceded it. Appearing on screen himself, he deliberately chose to mock himself, emphasising his personality and music, 'from geek to chic.' Released in 2008, 'C'est La Vie' has produced another succession of hits for the Parisian, the title track from the album, 'I Want You' and 'One 2.3 Four.' The album is rumoured to be inspired by The Strokes and their work, highlighting Solveig's board taste in music. The title track, 'C'est La Vie' was born from a funk beat played by a rock drummer, a nod to Prince and his album 'Parade', a synthesizer Juno 106 and a phone call to Jay Sebag (singer on 'Rocking Music', 'Something Better' and 'Rejection'). Another interesting twist to the album was the introduction of Martin's own vocal performances, specifically on "Bottom Line" and "Beauty False". He uses the microphone as a tool or instrument, singing, doing sound effects and beat-boxing bass line's and rhythms. Off the back of the success of 'C'est La Vie', Martin decided to reward fans by releasing a collection of remixes of tracks from the album on 'C'est La Vie Remixes.' It featured versions of familiar favourites from Laidback Luke, Felix Da Housecat, Popof, Les Petit Pilous, the Bloody Beetroots, Tiger Stripes and Fedde Le Grand. Rejection the norm, Solveig decided to release the album via free giveaways on magazine covers to say a thank you to fans that have supported his career. Before producing music, he was involved in the promotion of rave parties in his native city during the early 1990s, also Tiga was involved in the creation of world renowned afterhours club SONA. In 1994, he opened a record store named DNA Records, and in 1998 founded his own label, Turbo Recordings. Tiga is widely known for his remixes: Tomas Andersson's "Washing Up", Scissor Sisters' "Comfortably Numb" and Felix da Housecat's "Madame Hollywood" but also for his covers of Nelly's "Hot in Herre" and Corey Hart's "Sunglasses at Night". He produces his own material, but has also worked with Zyntherius, Richard X and Jake Shears from Scissor Sisters. He has frequently collaborated with Mateo Murphy (with whom Tiga forms the duo TGV) and Jesper Dahlbäck, who had produced many of Tiga's newer remixes. Tiga is also good friends with Stephen and David Dewaele from Soulwax, who produced about half of the tracks on Tiga's debut album Sexor. His song "3 Weeks" has received repeated airplay in night clubs. Soulwax are currently producing Tiga's second album. His song "You Gonna Want Me" was featured on CTV's So You Think You Can Dance Canada commercial. As of late 2008, Tiga has continued to produce music in collaboration with Zombie Nation under the pseudonym ZZT; Two 12" releases have resulted from the collaboration. In 2009 he released his second album called Ciao!, with production from Soulwax, James Murphy, Jesper Dahlback, and Montreal native Gonzales. In February 2010 his Remix of Boys Noize's "Transmission" was released on Boys Noize Records. ► about THE JUAN MACLEAN http://www.thejuanmaclean.com/ http://www.myspace.com/thejuanmaclean He was guitarist and synth player with acclaimed but obscure, gonzo electro-punk band Six Finger Satellite, who began formulating their blend of rigidly mechanised disco beats, oddly sumptuous synth melodies and razor-shredded guitar work in the early 90s. The brutish but groovy result suggested a cross between Devo, Kraftwerk and Big Black. As a result, Juan MacLean nearly gave up. Not just on music, but on life itself. Creative disillusionment and personal despair aggravated by years of drug addiction (he started shooting coke at an early age, then moved on to heroin) had, toward the end of last century, brought him to his knees. Then, as the world prepared to party at the millenium's turn, two shifts occurred. MacLean was being hassled by his old friend James Murphy to start making music again. As to the DFA connection, MacLean declares that working without Murphy and Goldsworthy was never an option. "Even now, if I weren't going to work with James and Tim, I just wouldn't be doing this at all. The thing that James does is something that he and I had been formulating for years and years, when I was in Six Finger Satellite – his recording techniques, his approach, the determination that he was going to put out the best thing he could possibly put out, or else it just wasn't going to be put out. --------------------------------------------------
