bove & Beyond is a trance music group formed in 2000. The group is famous for remixes and their own productions. The group's tracks are regularly played by well-known DJs, such as Tiësto, Armin van Buuren and Paul van Dyk. They are also known under other aliases, like Tranquility Base, OceanLab, Dirt Devils and Rollerball.

Jono Grant and Paavo Siljamäki met at Westminster University, and they set up the Anjunabeats label in the summer 1999 with the release of the "Anjunabeats Volume 1". The song received the immediate attention of various dance clubs, and quickly gained support from Pete Tong, Paul Oakenfold and Paul van Dyk.

Above & Beyond came together in 2000 when producer Tony McGuinness called in Jono and Paavo to help him complete the Chakra remix while he was still working at Warners. The inspiration for name Above & Beyond came from a web page belonging to an American motivational trainer called Jono Grant which was stuck on the wall of the studio. Although they were unknown at the time, the Above & Beyond remix of Chakra 'Home' was picked over remixes by Rob Searle and Tilt to be the A side mix, and after plays on Pete Tong reached number one in the UK club charts.

Above & Beyond's most famous remix was for Madonna's single "What It Feels Like for a Girl". Madonna was so impressed by the remix that the music video for her song was shot to the Above & Beyond remix instead of the album version

In 2006 they released a full artist album called "Tri-state", defined by DJMAG as a" big progress for the trance genre ", it features collaborations with the likes of Zoe Johnston, Richard Bedford and Andy Moor, known for his work with Tilt and as half of Leama & Moor. The first single from the album, "Air For Life" (featuring Andy Moor), was released in July '05. New single "Alone Tonight" was released in November '05.

THE REAL STORY!!! History has spawned hundreds of genius double acts where two minds and talents collide to form something innovative and artistically challenging. Unfortunately, Spirit Catcher are just a pair of european weirdos. As we all know, exciting and romantic collisions happen in, say, Hollywood or London. Not in Belgium. I mean, does Belgium have C.H.I.P.s? Or Hart to Hart? It doesnt. It has bugger all. No heroes, no drama, no action. Chocolates.beer.and Spirit Catcher. Now listen - Jean Vanesse and Thomas Sohet have been exposed to music for as long as they have been conscious. Jean was even born in a recording studio. His father owned a studio, and absolutely insisted on capturing a high quality recording of the birth. However, initial feedback problems due to the unexpectedly high pitch of Jeans first baby screams meant that Jean had to climb back in for a second and third take, so his father could take care of the rogue frequency. This led to a deep-seated psychological need for Jean to keep going back in to studios, over and over, again and again, in search of the perfect EQ settings which could set him free from this cycle. Thomas, meanwhile, was born in an ordinary Belgian hospital room to the sounds of an Earth, Wind and Fire cassette of his mothers. As he took his first gaze around the room, he soaked up its covering of black and white tiles. White, black, white, blackstrange levers and machinesthe vision burned deep into his psyche while the music played, then lay dormant for years. It was suddenly triggered when he saw a synthesizer as a teenager. Those black and white keys, the modulation wheel.the tiles and levers of the grooving hospital room suddenly surged back through his brain. A booming voice inside Tom told him that if one day he pressed them in the right combination, he would be free. He must find The Formula. So he played and played, hiding away in funk bands, trying as many combinations as he could, waiting for the explosive moment when life would finally make sense, as it had in that hospital room. The two were fated to meet. Jean was walking to the shops to get some fresh air and a bite to eat, when he was gripped into zombie mode again, and dragged by unseen forces back towards the studio. Tom was returning from taking his beloved Juno106 into a shop to be repaired, when a tall figure loomed towards him, muttering 2dB down at 90 Hertz.make some room for bottom end.separate the kick.16khz shinestudio..studio.. Tom stared for a while at this possessed man. Freak!, he thought, until he stopped - and realised that he himself was a goddamn freak too. Hmmm? And anyway - this talk of studios.who knows.they would be sure to have modulation wheels.The Formula! The Formula!! Toms eyes flashed white and black, black and white. They were seized together in a gnashing frenzy, bound by their pasts into a crazed march back towards the lure of the studio. And so Spirit Catcher was born.

Few people have displayed the disciplined approach to producing that Rene Amesz has in the last ten years. Churning out a steady stream of his unique and dirty sounding tracks, the Rene Amesz sound has been destroying speakers all over the world and it looks like now, it is coming into its own at the opportune time.

Maybe Rene's early career as a football player combined with his Rotterdam background had something to do with his work ethic. People from Rotterdam are generally known for a their 'get on with it attitude" get yourself together and work hard to get out there! Young Rene was a promising prospect in the football world and considered a player headed for the A-team of Rotterdam's finest, Feyenoord or Sparta. Unfortunately Rene had to give up because of a nasty injury, but that didn't stop him from making some adjustments and aiming at a new career that brought him to where he is today.

Rene's first success as a producer came when he started producing records for Mid-Town under various monikers. That's what really started his hunger for his own sound, all based on phat beats, sick grooves and a unique approach towards arrangements and sounds. Ren&233;'s responsible for tracks such as 'Strike Me Down' on Wally Lopez's La Factoria Records, the mighty 'You Make Me Climb The Wall' on Sander Kleinenberg's Little Mountain Recordings and remixes for Danny Tenaglia, Tom Stephan, D. Ramirez and Mark Night just to name a few. Meanwhile, in 2004, Rene met the guys from Extrema Music in Holland who were immediately taken by his determination and approach which resulted in a couple of release that first showcased Rene's new sound with. These included his first EP on Deep Focus called 'Courisha' and the breathtaking 'I like xes'. On the back of these originals people were forced to sit up and take notice. Other releases that helped carve Rene's signature sound were 'I've been away' on Lowriders Records and 'I'm your Doctor' on Nu Republic which crossed Rene's sleazy style to bigger masses in 2005. From then onwards Rene's career took a sharp turn upwards and forwards. Sander Kleinenberg's imprint Little Mountain successfully released the fierce 'Back into the Funk' and lately we've seen a bunch of amazing releases come out on labels such as La Factoria, Stereo productions, Extrema, DK records and Deep Records with remixes planned for Nic Fanciulli, Jamie Anderson, Muzzaik, Lexicon Avenue and Mark Knight. New releases are scheduled for a number of labels and some will find a home at his newly established label 25 Hertz Recordings. His DJ diary is filling up with gigs where fans appreciate the sore muscles you can only get from dancing all night; after all, that's what it's all about, isn't it? Success is glowingly around the corner – bearly close enough to touch with the anticipation of what is yet to come.

Many beautiful years have past between their first monster hit Give It Up and now. Born as first generation house producers, a complete musical revolution has taken place right in front of Zki & Dobres eyes: From the first simple sampler, to a complete digital studio built into a laptop.
 
DJ Zki & Dobre; who are they and what are they up to? Two simple but pressing questions which are not easy to answer. The Dutch producers Zki & Dobre- respectively René ter Horst and Gaston Steenkist are responsible for so many productions in all kinds of styles under so many different names that they are extremely difficult to categorize.
 
Their studio remains their favorite place, but as DJ's, the clubs is where their music is being tested and where their music should be played out loud! Great examples are I Wanna Be U (2001), A Star Is Born (2003) and Always And Forever (2006) which they released under their alter ego Chocolate Puma.
 
Lets go back in time a little. For sure a special mission from outer space has helped faith a little to ensure that these two all-round musical guys bumped into each other in the 90s.
