I can't get it out of me
It's breathing Inside me
It's reaching inside of you
You're feeling infected
You're being infected
It's just like the cold
A kiss on your lips
Now you're taking control

I feel like a criminal
I'm falling apart
We're leaving for Venus
In a getaway car
Cause no one can save us
There's no need to try
I'm looking for saviors before they all die

If you want to try and save me
Then take my heart don't hate me
If you feel you can't let go, let go (2x)

I feel like a criminal
I'm falling apart
We're leaving for Venus
In a getaway car
You say that you haunt me
but you don't really know
You're clinging to fingers
But you got to let go

If you want to try and save me
Then take my heart don't hate me
If you feel you can't let go, let go (3x)

Almost 7 years after the first beat was broadcast, friskyRadio has grown into a global Internet Radio powerhouse that is home to over 200 resident DJs from all over the world ranging from emerging talent to industry veterans broadcasting to over 126 countries and thousands of listeners every day...friskyRecords will continue the journey in bringing you the best that electronic music has to offer.

Global Internet Radio powerhouse friskyRadio is proud to announce the launch of its new label imprint friskyRecords. Forming a symbiotic relationship between radio and label properties, frisky has recruited its own resident DJ and international superstar Pole Folder (AKA Belgium's Benoit Franquet) to helm the flagship mix CD release Destinations.

As a title for this CD, Destinations works on a number of levels. The most obvious connection being that Destinations is the name of Pole Folder's own radio show which airs only on friskyRadio every second Thursday of each month. Each show is recorded live in clubs from destinations all over the world and offers a true account of Pole Folder's current DJ sets. The title also reflects how much Pole Folder has experienced as both a DJ and electronic music fan in many destinations around the world. Memories like discovering Sasha and John Digweed's Northern Exposure for the first time provided Pole Folder with a feeling that many of us will relate to and never want to lose.

The last time we heard Pole Folder on CD, it was in the role of a producer. His debut artist album Zero Gold was released in 2005 on John Digweed's Bedrock label and it garnered acclaim with journalists and fans alike. Fast forward almost three years later and Destinations provides a vehicle for Pole Folder to showcase his skills as DJ for the first time ever on CD. Crafted much like his radio show of the same name, Destinations offers a true and up to the minute representation of the global progressive house scene. Given complete artist control over the project, Pole Folder pairs his own "Eastern Lagoon" with tracks from the likes of Leon Bolier, Kevin Yost, Andy Moor & Michael Wilson, Henry Cullen, Deep Mariano, DJ Yellow & Astrid Suryante, Spektre and Tiger Stripes, among others.

Frisky Radio was launched in 2001 when streaming media engineer and dance music aficionado Faisal Sultan (fondly referred to by friends and colleagues as "Frisky") started broadcasting DJ Mixes he was listening to online. Realising that friskyRadio could be a vehicle for the struggling bedroom DJ to reach a potentially global audience, he opened the stream up to submissions and started playing mixes from DJs residing all over the world. Over the years, Faisal has continually maintained friskyRadio in his own free time, and with the generous donations from fans all over the world he has been able to grow the radio station into one of the top-most listened to stations for underground electronic music on the web.

Today, almost 7 years after the first beat was broadcast, friskyRadio has grown into into a global Internet Radio powerhouse that is home to over 200 resident DJs from all over the world ranging from emerging talent to industry veterans broadcasting to over 126 countries and thousands of listeners every day. The "Get Frisky!" brand of parties bring this passion for the music to the dance floor in cities like Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Budapest, Osaka, Vienna, and even Aruba, making it a truly global phenomenon.

Pole Folder is going to be like an old school DJ's and Producer which throw eclectic style of music in every Occasion.

Progressive-Sounds: Balance 010 marks your first mix compilation in several years. When you were first approached by EQ regarding the project, was your initial idea for the compilation the same as what the album came to be, or was the triple disc concept that you came up with something that came over time?
Jimmy Van M: The first idea was just an eclectic mix and a club mix, but I had too much I wanted to cover. I wanted to play a broad spectrum of music and tried to touch on a lot of varied styles I've been into for a long time. The flow of the whole mix was very important to me, so creating three discs seemed to suit all the music I wanted to use. The downtempo mix starts at 65 bpm and gets up to 100 bpm, the midtempo one starts from 100 bpm and goes up to about 124, and finally the uptempo mix barely reaches 126. It's a mix I hope people will listen to at any time for hopefully many years.

I went over at least a thousand tracks and decades of music I've been inspired by.
   2.

Progressive-Sounds: How did the album come together, and how did you go about choosing the tracks that you came to include? Some of the classics on there span quite a time period, so how much of your record collection did you have to go through whilst compiling the album to find the tracks you wanted?
Jimmy Van M: I went over at least a thousand tracks and decades of music I've been inspired by. Sean Cusick helped a lot as he's a musical library who has a massive log of music stored so its like record shopping through all the music you remember. I chose songs that meant something to me but also flowed well with each other. I was trying to create pieces of music that made sense sitting with each other. It was really exciting to put Depeche Mode in there because I listened to them in my youth, but then there is new stuff I am absolutely amazed by. Oliver Lieb's 'Integrale' is just such an immense tune and I think it's important for where it fits.

There's so much out there and you really have to be different but also at the same time create something listenable. One approach I tried was to make something anyone could listen to.
   3.

Progressive-Sounds: With so many DJ mixes available for free these days, do you feel it's harder for DJs to come up with something special when putting together a mix compilation, or do you feel that if a DJ is forward thinking enough that it's something that comes naturally rather than being strived for?
Jimmy Van M: Of course. There's so much out there and you really have to be different but also at the same time create something listenable. One approach I tried was to make something anyone could listen to. I've had feedback from parents, friends and music people alike who've said they enjoyed the mix and that's really what I wanted.

   4.

Progressive-Sounds: You've been back in the studio in the last few months, working with the 16 Bit Lolitas and Nick Warren amongst others. Does it feel good to be back in the studio working on your own music and collaborating with such talented people? Can you tell us about some of the music you've been working on and what we can look forward to hearing over the coming months?
Jimmy Van M: I've been working with a fantastic musician called Steve T. We wrote 'How Are You', which is the 3rd song on the midtempo disc of the Balance compilation. He's been traveling around with me and has been a great inspiration in production. He used to be in a band called Deep C so he's quite varied in his likes and the things he's capable of doing. 'The Only & Only' with Nick was a lot of fun. I've also recently launched a website, as I've never had one before so that's quite exciting.

   5.

Progressive-Sounds: How is life living in Barcelona compared to the US, and how is being part of the new Litheum dj agency working out for you?
Jimmy Van M: I love it, it feels like home, and being part of the agency is great. It's a small agency with people like Carl Cox, John Digweed and Michel de Hey. Ian Hindmarsh knows what he's doing and he's easy to work with. The roster is quite small so it's nice he can focus his energy on the artists as I think that's important.

   6.

Progressive-Sounds: The TCA agency continues to grow, with the artist roster more diverse than ever. Do you feel that the roster reflects the broadening of the dance scene in general, and what areas do you see the agency and its DJs and artists reaching out to in the future?
Jimmy Van M: I think diversity is very important and I feel like we have a great group of talented people in many different markets. We're always trying to find different opportunities for them and find crossover potential. My business partner Joel Zimmerman who runs the agency has an amazing ability for knowing what's good. He has a very discerning ear and does a great job for TCA and the artists.

   7.

Progressive-Sounds: With a five month tour to promote the album due to start shortly, plus a show on New Years Eve with Sasha and John Digweed, what are you looking forward to over the next few months?
Jimmy Van M: I'm looking forward to two things. Honolulu is a great place where I'll start the evening playing alternative music, starting with everything from the late 70's and beyond for the first two hours. An interesting mix of songs and sounds, and the best part of playing there is the people welcome this. They love the eclectic sounds and the vibe that comes from it is really amazing. The second thing is touring out in Australia. I've not been there for 4 or 5 years so I'm eager to get back and play. I'll be spending three weeks there and I'm really looking forward to it.

I love being able to build that intensity, being able to bring things further along and setting a mood.
   8.

Progressive-Sounds: Since you are known more so for your warm up sets than your peak time sets do you find you enjoy one or the other more? Are they different for you, and do you feel you can experiment more as a warm up dj?
Jimmy Van M: I enjoy them both a lot actually. I recently played at The Cross in London for Renaissance and played from 22:30-01:30. It wasn't too packed when I first started but by 12 it was full and people were just starting to get excited. I love being able to build that intensity, being able to bring things further along and setting a mood. I'm much more used to playing peak time now since I've been touring for the Balance compilation and try to do things in an unobvious way.

share anyone ...... *bgs*

Videos / Underworld - Crocodile
29/11/07, 07:05
Underworld are back. It's been along time in the making but after months in the studio and roadtesting around the worlds dance festivals, Underworld return with the soundtrack to your summer 'CROCODILE'. The styles change but the quality never drops and once again Rick and Karl unleash another anthem to stand along side "Born Slippy", "Two Months Off" & "Rez". With mixes from Pete Heller and Oliver Huntemann, this package is of the highest order. The album 'Oblivion With Bells' follows a week later and was recorded over 5 years in hotel rooms around the world, in Abbey Road Studios, in a back bedroom in Romford, a pig shed in deepest rural Essex and right now it feels that they've hit their target. Bulls-eye. They've given us one of their finest works ever! In these days of endless band reformations, avalanches of reissues and shamelessly repetitious 'creativity', too many artists are willing to sign away their soul for a little extra time on the career clock. Too many of them see artistic expression not as an end in itself, but as a shortcut to celebrity and are obsessed with their destination, rather than engaged by the journey. Too few of them, frankly, are like Underworld's Karl Hyde and Rick Smith. An incredible 27 years after their birth in Romford, Essex as a trio and 15 years after they pressed up their debut single (500 copies of the Balearic twofer, 'Mother Earth'/'The Hump'), Rick Smith and Karl Hyde are still enjoying the ride, grinning like kids as new vistas unfold before them. It's been a long and exhilarating trip – and it's not over yet. 'Crocodile' is the first heavyweight lifted from the long-awaited, fifth studio album, 'Oblivion With Bells'. Built from a vast palette of pieces they've been amassing since 2003, it reflects the stylistic promiscuity that always marked Underworld out from the pack, recalling Kraftwerk, Erik Satie, Can, Angelo Badalamenti, Laurie Anderson, Ralph Vaughan Williams, The Last Poets, Eno, Phillip Glass and musique concrète composers such as Pierre Boulez. It's definitely Underworld, but it's Underworld with a twist. 'Crocodile' is, put simply, Underworld at their best. Its warped and bittersweet melodies are all held together by a meld of percussive genius that's familiar but striving in new directions. Pete Heller has risen to the challenge as usual taking the track in more of a house direction, but keeping the textures alive and cleaning up the vocals. The result is a typically masterful reworking. Bremen's finest Oliver Huntemann excels with an emotive techno remix. He strips the vocal back too, giving the song a concise and direct structure and then he wraps it in a warm rolling bass heavy techno blanket. Late night business for the heads, and the connoisseurs alike. 'Crocodile' is conclusive proof that Underworld were never in any danger of being forgotten. That sound you hear is Karl Hyde and Rick Smith ringing in the new. Again.

Over the last year, Eddie Halliwell has confirmed his place at the top of the world DJ league and his premiership ability and showmanship behind the decks has seen him rise to the top of his game. With his residency at Radio 1, and Fire It Up events, Eddie returns with his 2nd album for Cream on Cream Ibiza - which sees the most upfront club tunes with two distinct flavours over two CD's.

Through residencies and gigs at some of the worlds leading clubs, being the only DJ to be twice voted Mixmag's DJ Of The Year and in 2004 mixing one of their most popular ever cover mount CDs, the aptly titled Bosh, Eddie has drawn respect from many other leading industry figures. Amongst them, Tiësto, the biggest DJ in the world who in last years DJ Magazine Top 100 DJ Poll publicly named Eddie as his No.1 DJ In The World. Surely one of the highest accolades a DJ can ask for.

Add to this Eddie's shows on Radio 1 that quickly developed from a monthly residency to a weekly show reflecting his popularity in the nations clubbing hearts. His highly acclaimed Fire It Up events have seen Eddie bring his electric performance to some of the biggest and best venues and festivals across the globe. Eddie truly is leading the new school of DJs and quite rightly so.

Following several key dates at Cream's long running Amnesia, Ibiza residency during 2006, Eddie has been invited back to take over the reigns from some of the worlds leading DJ lights such as Tiësto and Paul Oakenfold by being given his own residency at this mighty venue.

Throughout 2007 Eddie will be performing six dates for Cream at the world famous Amnesia. Over the last twelve years Cream has become synonymous with Ibiza and it's legendary parties on Thursday night at Amnesia have become generally accepted as the biggest night in Ibiza. This year is already looking set to be another blinding season. Alongside this Eddie has returned to mix his second album for Cream on Cream Ibiza 07, which sees Eddie lay down the most upfront club tunes with two distinct flavours over two CD's.

CD1's Altern8ive Mix features the biggest electro, house, techno and mash up releases from artists including Mandy, Xpress 2, Sebastian Leger, Dave Spoon, Coburn, Umek, Chris Lake, DJ Mehdi and Angello and Ingrosso Vs Laidback Luke.

CD2 sees Eddie pick up the pace for for Trana full on Main Room Mix reflecting Eddie's Cream Amnesia peak time sets for trance , featuring killer cuts from artists including Bedrock, John O'Callaghan, 4 Strings, Jon Askew, Greg Downey, Thomas Bronzwaer, Guiseppe Ottovani, Ignition Technician and Tiësto.

Both discs showcase the Eclectic sounds Eddie will be bringing to Cream, Ibiza and beyond this year, plus include Eddie's own exclusive re-ed-its of selected tracks and outstanding sonic mix trickery. During the 2007 Ibiza season Cream will be at Amnesia every Thursday night running from June 21st (official Cream Ibiza 07 Eddie Halliwell Album Launch Party) to September 20th.

D:Fuse & Hiratzka - Skyline Lounge
Label: Lost Angeles Recordings | Release Date: Tuesday, July 24, 2007

D:Fuse & Hiratzka - Skyline Lounge

Skyline Lounge is a project that came about with D:Fuse and Hiratzka's desire to get out from under the strict confines of dance tracks and to move into more traditional song writing and production. In fact, a big part of D:Fuse's recent move from Texas to Los Angeles was to completely immerse himself in the writing process with partner Mike Hiratzka. Before the move, the music making process was forced to be quick and over a set number of days. With more time to conceive and create, D:Fuse and Hiratzka relaxed with the music and left ample room to see the ideas flesh out.

"When we started writing the album we didn't put terms on anything. We just wrote and performed what sounded good to us; whether that be virtual synths or live instrumentation via drums, guitar, bass, or vocals.

After a few songs we realized everything had a cohesive feel. To us it felt like a city rooftop at night. The energy of the city combined with the beauty of a skyline. That's where Skyline Lounge and the subsequent cover concept came from. We literally spent an entire day hauling vintage gear and living room furniture up flights of stairs to a rooftop in Midtown LA to get the shot," D:Fuse says.

D:Fuse and Mike Hiratzka have been collaborating on studio projects for several years. After working together on D:Fuse's last mix compilation (People 3), they toured a live show that featured D:Fuse DJing and playing an electronic drum kit and Mike Hiratzka on guitar, bass and keyboards. Together, both artists felt the next logical step was to do an album that would incorporate live instrumentation and electronic elements, as well as their own vocals. "The album has really allowed us to explore different sonic realms, and focus on our songwriting craft from a completely different mindset than when we're writing DJ-oriented tracks," Hiratzka says.

Skyline Lounge also features a number of talented vocalists including DJ Rap ("The Power Of Love"), Delerium collaborator Kristy Thirsk ("Overkill"), Ceci Castelblanco (Perfection"), MC Flint ("Love it, Live It") and Angel-A ("Breathe In"); and violinist Govinda ("I See Light.")

Skyline Lounge is released July 24 through D:Fuse & Hiratzka's own Lost Angeles Recordings label

Tracklist

   2. Breathe in (Featuring Angel-A)
   3. Overkill (Featuring Kristy Thirsk)

  12. Skyline At Night
  13. Bonus: "Waiting For You" (Dub Mix)

A combination of smooth electronic pop, gentle house music and downtempo rhythms, Skyline Lounge is a song-based album that transcends the transient nature of most club music and made by progressive house don.

House / RALPH LAWSON ON FABRIC 33
14/02/07, 15:09
The British house don Ralph Lawson goes back to basics on the latest mix in the Fabric series. 'Fabric 33' will drop in March.

Lawson is the man who cranked out the first ever record at Leeds clubbing institution Back to Basics over a decade and half ago, and he's still going strong. "The night still runs every week and, as far as I know, it's the longest-running house night in the world," says Lawson. "Some people kind of misuse the term 'residency' when they play somewhere once every three months – but I was there every week. My whole sound has been very influenced from that club for sure."

Lawson also runs house label 20:20 Vision, which he set up in a deserted farmhouse in Yorkshire in the mid-nineties. These days the label is focusing on the electro end of house music, releasing the like of Paul Woolford, Audiojack, Spirit Catcher, Marc Romboy and 2020 Soundsystem, Lawson's live electronic project.

As a DJ, Lawson might have been around the block, but 'Fabric 33' focuses squarely on the present, featuring cuts from currently hot producers such as John Tejada, Dennis Ferrer, Swag, Marc Romboy and Justus Kohncke mixed up with the live electronics of The Rapture, Joakim and The Emperor Machine. "I just went into the studio and did it all in one take. All I was thinking about was the next record – I had already sourced the tracks I wanted to use. I'd been thinking a lot about it and I wanted to represent myself, Leeds and Fabric. I'm not very nationalistic, but I wanted to represent what was coming out of Britain as well as at the moment. There's a lot of really good new British music."
