►MARTIN SOLVEIG - BIOGRAPHY
www.martinsolveig.com
www.myspace/martinsolveig

In 2002, Martin Solveig released his album Sur La Terre, which contained hits 'Heart of Africa' and 'Ebony' and was released internationally on Universal Music. 'Madan', which went on to sell over 100,000 copies, and 'Rocking Music' featured on the frenchman's second album Suite. 'Rocking Music' established Martin's identity as an energetic, funk producer who experimented with electric vocals, something that was quite scarce in electro music at the time. Success in the U.K was quick to welcome him, BBC Radio 1 had the track on constant rotation and you could not escape the record in nightclubs. Far from sitting back and resting on the success of 'Rocking Music', Martin set about working on his following album, 'Hedonist.' The album was released in 2005 and tracks such as 'Everybody', 'Jealousy', 'Something Better' and 'Rejection' helped to make it a big success. Learning a lot from Arno Bani and Tristan Séguéla, Martin developed an interest in the visual elements to his music. He wrote the story of the video for "Jealousy" and finally directed "Rejection." "Rejection" proved to be a milestone as Martin decided to move away from the conventions of electro videos that had preceded it. Appearing on screen himself, he deliberately chose to mock himself, emphasising his personality and music, 'from geek to chic.' Released in 2008, 'C'est La Vie' has produced another succession of hits for the Parisian, the title track from the album, 'I Want You' and 'One 2.3 Four.' The album is rumoured to be inspired by The Strokes and their work, highlighting Solveig's board taste in music. The title track, 'C'est La Vie' was born from a funk beat played by a rock drummer, a nod to Prince and his album 'Parade', a synthesizer Juno 106 and a phone call to Jay Sebag (singer on 'Rocking Music', 'Something Better' and 'Rejection').

Another interesting twist to the album was the introduction of Martin's own vocal performances, specifically on "Bottom Line" and "Beauty False". He uses the microphone as a tool or instrument, singing, doing sound effects and beat-boxing bass line's and rhythms.

Off the back of the success of 'C'est La Vie', Martin decided to reward fans by releasing a collection of remixes of tracks from the album on 'C'est La Vie Remixes.' It featured versions of familiar favourites from Laidback Luke, Felix Da Housecat, Popof, Les Petit Pilous, the Bloody Beetroots, Tiger Stripes and Fedde Le Grand. Rejection the norm, Solveig decided to release the album via free giveaways on magazine covers to say a thank you to fans that have supported his career. It featured on the cover of DJ Mag in the UK in October 2009 and Deejay Spain in the same month.

► about TIGA
http://www.myspace.com/officialtiga
http://www.mynameistiga.com/

He graduated from Selwyn House School, a prestigious school in Westmount. Before producing music, he was involved in the promotion of rave parties in his native city during the early 1990s, also Tiga was involved in the creation of world renowned afterhours club SONA. In 1994, he opened a record store named DNA Records, and in 1998 founded his own label, Turbo Recordings.

Tiga is widely known for his remixes: Tomas Andersson's "Washing Up", Scissor Sisters' "Comfortably Numb" and Felix da Housecat's "Madame Hollywood" but also for his covers of Nelly's "Hot in Herre" and Corey Hart's "Sunglasses at Night". He produces his own material, but has also worked with Zyntherius, Richard X and Jake Shears from Scissor Sisters.

He has frequently collaborated with Mateo Murphy (with whom Tiga forms the duo TGV) and Jesper Dahlbäck, who had produced many of Tiga's newer remixes. Tiga is also good friends with Stephen and David Dewaele from Soulwax, who produced about half of the tracks on Tiga's debut album Sexor. His song "3 Weeks" has received repeated airplay in night clubs. Soulwax are currently producing Tiga's second album. His song "You Gonna Want Me" was featured on CTV's So You Think You Can Dance Canada commercial.

As of late 2008, Tiga has continued to produce music in collaboration with Zombie Nation under the pseudonym ZZT; Two 12" releases have resulted from the collaboration.

In 2009 he released his second album called Ciao!, with production from Soulwax, James Murphy, Jesper Dahlback, and Montreal native Gonzales. In February 2010 his Remix of Boys Noize's "Transmission" was released on Boys Noize Records.

► about THE JUAN MACLEAN
http://www.thejuanmaclean.com/
http://www.myspace.com/thejuanmaclean

He was guitarist and synth player with acclaimed but obscure, gonzo electro-punk band Six Finger Satellite, who began formulating their blend of rigidly mechanised disco beats, oddly sumptuous synth melodies and razor-shredded guitar work in the early 90s. The brutish but groovy result suggested a cross between Devo, Kraftwerk and Big Black.

As a result, Juan MacLean nearly gave up. Not just on music, but on life itself. Creative disillusionment and personal despair aggravated by years of drug addiction (he started shooting coke at an early age, then moved on to heroin) had, toward the end of last century, brought him to his knees. Then, as the world prepared to party at the millenium's turn, two shifts occurred. MacLean was being hassled by his old friend James Murphy to start making music again.

As to the DFA connection, MacLean declares that working without Murphy and Goldsworthy was never an option. "Even now, if I weren't going to work with James and Tim, I just wouldn't be doing this at all. The thing that James does is something that he and I had been formulating for years and years, when I was in Six Finger Satellite – his recording techniques, his approach, the determination that he was going to put out the best thing he could possibly put out, or else it just wasn't going to be put out.

► WHY DO WE LOVE CLASSIXX??

Well for a start, unless you were under a pretty massive rock last summer you definitely had your heart warmed by their truly beautiful mix of Yacht's 'psychic city'.

These two young bucks are barely in their 20's and are already touring the world igniting dancefloors with their classy laid back disco grooves / throbbing brand of down tempo disco.

Their remixes ooze ionized pillows of synth and a zen-like cool that blooms only when confident hands are on the wheel.

Classixx capture the essence of the 80's more than Miami Vice, Knightrider and Never Ending Story refined and distilled.

Last year they managed to make Phoenix sound poppier. Do you know how hard that is? That's like making a shitter version of Nickelback- nigh impossible.

DIGITALISM
http://www.thedigitalism.com/
http://www.myspace.com/digitalism

There are loads of rock bands making music for the dancefloor. Digitalism make electronic music that everyone can rock to. For the past two years, they have been the go-to men for indie remixes, having reworked the Klaxons, The Test Icicles, Cut Copy and The Futureheads, to devastating effect.

Digitalism hail from Hamburg. Isi, the German born son of Turkish immigrants, met Jens, the child of a liberal family, at the city's Underground Solution record store. Jens Moelle was the first to find employment there, towards the end of the 1990s. When he took leave from the shop to devote more time to his school work, Isi filled. Later Jens returned, and the pair worked alongside each other: Jens in the shop, and Isi at the attendant record distribution business. They soon bonded over their shared love of dance and rock records.

When the store's owner, Ollie Grabowski, began casting around for a couple of fresh, young DJs to play at party, he suggested that Isi and Jens team up.

"We were of the same generation,â" explains Isi, "we liked the same records, so we were put in one room together."

Ever the innovators, the boys bought an adaptor for their first DJing gig, allowing them to plug two sets of headphones into one socket.

"So you could hear the same thing," explains Isi. "You never drop out of the groove,â" Jens confirms.

As the duo's DJing reputation took off, so the harder the pair worked to find obscure, unheard records to animate their crowds. In 2001, the price of CD writers dropped sufficiently to allow the boys to burn their own records.

"We stared with some edits," says Jens, "just for our DJ sets."

The first was a version of The White Stripes' Seven Nation Army. This eventually found its way onto vinyl and sold well, marking Digitalism out as electronic producers who could cross over into the rock camp. Its success also prompted the boys to put out another release. On their second record, they also included an original composition. The jagged, makeshift track, with its scrappy vocal hook ( "I Have An Idea That You Are Here, I Have The Idea That You Were Near"), called Idealistic.

The record was re-pressed, allowing everyone from Errol Alkan to Pete Tong to pick up a copy, yet it was Gildas Loaec from Kitsuné in Paris who eventually contacted the duo with a serious label deal.

"I knew the record had done well," says Isi, "I was distributing it, after all. Yet I was really happy to get the call from Gildas. We were the first album artist signing to Kitsune."

Digitalism initial release on the French label remains their best known: Zdarlight. The boys chose this peculiar spelling to distinguish the record from other "Starlight" titled tunes by everyone from Muse to Model 500.

They shouldn't have worried. The heavy dance tune, with its acidic undercarriage, lilting guitar line and stratospheric climax, is distinctive enough. It received strong support in 2005 from many including Soulwax, Tiga, Laurent Garnier, Blackstrobe, Tiefschwarz and The Glimmers, and remains a reliable club staple to this day.

Digitalism followed this release with Jupiter Room, another compelling electronic record that, despite its celestial overtones, was actually named after a sleazy bar in Montreal.

Their forthcoming album, entitled Idealism is, in Jens' words, "an attempt to reach out, and create structures," he explains, "but also this space aspect, you depart from earth to something new."

Yet the boys still love earthbound rock n' roll. Their reinterpretation of The Cure's Fire In Cairo, entitled Digitalism in Cairo, was one 2006's cult re-edits. They managed to clear this version for their album, setting the band's album apart from the usual 4/4 club bound albums. Listen to a track like Pogo or Apollo-Gize from their new LP. Their loose, heavily distorted, rough grooves and blankly delivered lyrics owe as much to Joy Division or The Associates as they do to Daft Punk and their contemporaries.

Any further doubts are laid to rest during their live shows. This summer, you're as likely to find them appearing live on the festival circuit as playing the clubs. As Sean McClusky, the legendary London rock club promoter, who booked the duo recently, puts it "Digitalism are as popular with indie kids as electro or techno clubbers."

Digitalism's own, ever-evolving gig set-up is becoming less like a porta-studio on stage, and more like a band set-up. This side of the band is set to grow even more this year. There has not been an electronic act with the potential to cross over on such a scale since Daft Punk and the Chemical Brothers. It's been a long wait!

The boys still record in a bunker. The building wouldn't look out of place in a dystopian film like 1984. Its thick concrete walls, blast doors and cell-like atmosphere suits the duo perfectly.

"We drink something, we have fun," says Isi, "we don't have any daylight, any distractions; I think maybe our sound come from the bunker atmosphere."

And though they're stuck deep inside, Digitalism are looking at the stars. Sorry, Zdars.

Dont miss DIGITALISM at BLOWFISH (Friday 2nd JULY 2010)

about SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO
http://www.simianmobiledisco.co.uk/
http://www.myspace.com/simianmobiledisco

James Ford and Jas Shaw. Two men. Three letters. SMD. Electronic pioneers. DJs. Producers. They've been tearing up dance-floors around the world for the past few years, but how did their story begin, and where will it end...?

Back in the late '90s, James and Jas were studying folklore and physics respectively at Manchester University, while crafting strange electronic music in the spare room of their shared house. Although he eventually dropped out of his course, Jas's grounding in quantum physics was to come in useful later: the drum pattern on SMD's early white label Tits & Acid was based on matrix mechanics devised by Werner Heisenberg.

Jas and James started indulging their passion for electronic party music by booking themselves DJ dates under the name Simian Mobile Disco. Early gigs were wildly experimental, James once spinning every record in a four hour set at 5/8 the correct speed, inadvertently creating the short lived Slowcore scene. But it wasn't long before the duo started to acquire a fanbase of their own, spearheaded by the Simian Mobile Diskettes, all-female followers who would turn up at club nights dressed only in six-inch heels and twelve-inch vinyl.

At around the same time, their record company decided to launch a competition for bedroom acts to remix the Simian track Never Be Alone. A then unknown French production duo called Justice entered and, famously, didn't win (James blames this on the fact that he had recently perforated an eardrum at a Gwar gig in Rotterdam). Nevertheless, the remix was picked up by DJs like Erol Alkan and General Spinochet and swiftly became a worldwide club favourite. When the tune was adopted as the unofficial anthem of the Orange Revolution in Ukraine, Jas and James knew their moment had arrived. They struck out on their own as DJs, remixers and producers of thumping electronic party tunes. Simian Mobile Disco became a going concern.

Soon the duo started knocking out their own tunes, releasing limited edition early bangers such as The Count, Fake Bake, and Clam Digger on friend's labels like I'm Cliché and Kitsune, Catnip and Wax FCUKface. One early tune – Epilectrics – infamously had to be withdrawn from record stores when it was found to induce fits in dogs and Tweenagers alike.

James started producing albums for Mystery Jets, Klaxons and Arctic Monkeys, staying awake through gruelling recording sessions on a steady diet of rum, dextrose and light electrolysis. "He makes the magic happen," said Jamie Reynolds from Klaxons. "I think he receives outer-planetary signals through his hair and they come out through his eyes." Meanwhile, Jas began to build the largest modular synth in the South East of England, frequently causing lengthy blackouts in large parts of Crawley.

All the while, Jas and James were putting together the set of tunes that would eventually form their debut album. Keen for their songs not to sound too techy and programmed, SMD recorded them all on analogue machines, and kept the mistakes. For example, f you listen very carefully to the end of Hotdog you can hear James swearing as he realises he's taped over the end of 90210.

They decided to name the album Attack Decay Sustain Release, partly after various synthesiser effects, but also because ADSR stands for Auto Deficient Serotonin Response, a genetic condition from which Jas suffers that makes him unable to experience any real moments of genuine happiness.

Released in summer 2007, Attack Decay Sustain Release garnered rave reviews and firmly established SMD as leaders of the acid house-rock-crossover scene. Off the back of the album's success, the boys have toured Europe, America, Japan and many less important countries. Their favourite gig so far was undoubtedly a New Year's Eve party aboard the same battle ship on which Cher shot the video for If I Could Turn Back Time.

2009 saw the release of their hotly anticipated second album, "Temporary Pleasure". If Attack Decay Sustain Release was a record for the dance floor, their sophomore effort is aimed squarely at the boudoir. "This one's for all the ladeez out there", says Jas. "And for all the gentlemen who wish to get with those superfine ladeez", adds James. Vocal contributions came from Beth Ditto, Jamie Lidell, Gruff Ryhs and Alexis Taylor amongst others.

For their next trick, Simian Mobile Disco release a series of 12" singles, on a new imprint "Delicacies", accompanied by an SMD curated club night called "Delicatessen" which will happen worldwide over 2010. Each track will be named after weird and wonderful food delicacies from around the world already lined up are "Aspic" and "Nerve Salad" which will be released very soon in all good independent record stores and shortly after via Beatport. The first Delicatessen event is at Matter on 20th February and features a stellar line up including SMD's massive live show, Green Velvet, DJ Pierre, Retrograde, Boy 8 Bit, Joker, Ralph Lawson and Mowgli.

► about YASMEEN
http://www.strictly.com/artists/artist-detail/Yasmeen

Yasmeen, the newest, talented songstress to be signed with Defected Records as a recording and live performing artist, is refreshingly uncomplicated and yet slightly enigmatic by nature.

Whilst working on a children's stage show that she was approached by a cast mate about writing a track and recording the female vocal. "I hadn't done anything like it before but we sat down and wrote the song in about half an hour. We recorded the demo and it was sent off, just like that!" The track 'Glad I found you', a soulful melody with an R&B twang was picked up by Blaze Imprints. Several remixes of the track later, and it had a house edge which appealed to a whole new market. It was then that Yasmeen, now 26, was discovered and signed to Strictly Rhythm and Defected Records with plans to pop her on bpms the world over! "I'm going to have fun, do my bit and see where it takes me!" She says, excited at the opportunity and chomping at the bit to get in the studio and record again.

Her own lyrics are attentive and quixotic and she loves to tell a story, "I write about love, or whatever's on my mind, it doesn't matter... I'll find something, a word, or the melody and build it from there..." Her passion for music is audible, and while now focusing on the melody and lyric writing aspects of making music. She'll be recording releases with renowned house duo, Copyright, as well as embark on her first live tour in Europe with the inimitable ATFC.

► about TONY HUMPHRIES
http://www.tonyrecords.net/

Tony Humphries has entertained dance music fans across the globe with his "Hump in the Homefries" brand of uptempo soul music. This Brooklyn, New York native landed his first "professional" DJ gig at Manhattan's posh Club El Morocco in 1975. From there Tony's trek to Boystown a.k.a. Club Tribeca NY, NY would prove successful, where he was then recognized as a talented DJ.
In July 1981, producer Shep Pettibone asked Tony for a mastermix show tape to fill in for a no show on his KISS-FM NY radio show. A vacancy left by Pettibone at the station opened the door for his own permanent mix show. Simultaneously, schooled under the "I'll leave you in the booth and see what happens" antics of resident DJ Larry Patterson of NJ's Club Zanzibar fame, resulted in him gaining "THE" residency in 1982.

Developing his creative experiences behind the recording studio's control board only enhanced his style and magic. Artists like Mtume (Tonys' first gold record "Juicy Fruit"), Chaka Khan, Karen White, Regina Belle, Donna Summer, Jungle Brothers, Queen Latifah, and The Cover Girls were all governed by the "Humphries handicraft".

By the mid to late 80's, Tony became the sole helmsman weaving the tunes three nights a week, thus making dance music superstars out of local talent embedded in the heartland of Newark and her surrounding areas. Summoned across the Atlantic by the British in 1987. The "Jersey Sound" was coined by their press. In addition to traveling, remix projects mounting, pumping out a weekly radio mix show, and holding down the fort at the club, Tony was in his prime making the world of dance music exciting, hip, and refreshing.

By November 1990, his 8 year tenure ended with a tearful refrain, but this didn't discourage Tony as he became in demand worldwide and relocated to London, England. In January of 1993, Tony took up the offer to be the resident jock at the Ministry of Sound club. That year was rounded off with a residency at "Echoes" in Rimini, Italy. This Italian residency continued for 4 years while simultaneously relocating back in NJ to launch his Yellorange Production Co.
It can be said that Tony Humphries has left an unerasable impression on the global dance music industry. To date over 300 venues he has gigged worldwide, done over 200 studio remixes, the latest being Janet Jackson's hit "Together Again". Throughout tremendous recognition, tons of awards and accolades from his peers, he has remained humble.

In 2006, with the introduction of a new label, Tony Records, the legendary producer and DJ continues to challenge himself by taking different directions in the music he helped to spawn.

► About LADYTRON
http://www.ladytron.com
http://www.myspace.com/ladytron

In 2001, the first fruits of what would become the new electronic-rock movement began to fall. LADYTRON's debut, 604, was an integral part of that first strike. A pristine, analog adventure of sound and substance, the album would go on to influence the genre itself, while the group quietly made a global impact both visually and stylistically.

Hits like "Playgirl" and "Seventeen" (from their 2002 follow-up, Light & Magic) quietly rebelled against the bratty, disingenuous motifs of the time, instead invoking the sonic storytelling of groups like Air, Stereolab, and My Bloody Valentine. Ladytron's counterbalance of emotional vulnerability and psychological ingenuity–personified by the opposing vocals of Helen Marnie and Mira Aroyo—created their own world that had yet to be fully explored.

A year's worth of touring and experimentation led to the creation of Witching Hour, Ladytron's most sonically complex production to date. It retained the unmistakable, mechanized warmth of their Korg MS20s, but Reuben Wu's dynamic programming coupled with Hunt's shoegazey guitar layers in tracks like the intoxicating single "Destroy Everything You Touch," "International Dateline" and "High Rise" flexed a more indie rock tenacity. While the album showed distinct creative growth, their resilience outside the studio provided a different kind of maturity; the group took to the road on the strength of their massive cult following, booking sold-out tours across North America and Europe, and playing for capacity crowds in China and Latin America. Ladytron toured exhaustively over the next two years, performing for over 40,000 people in Bogota, Columbia—where their show was eventually shut down by local military.

Their most recent album, 2008's Velocifero continued this trend. "At no point have we ever responded to anything that's been going on outside," says Mira. "There are always going to be people who want you to remain in the same place forever, but that's not the way you make music, or anything else. It's obvious that you have to be allowed the benefit of the doubt to do whatever you want, because ultimately when you started out, there was no one there to tell you what to do. You just did it." Audiences will have ample opportunity to take in Ladytron's synthesis, and see for themselves how the group has redefined the genre they helped establish.

► about CALVIN HARRIS
http://www.myspace.com/calvinharristv
http://www.calvinharris.co.uk/
http://www.youtube.com/icreateddisco

Calvin Harris is a Scottish electronic musician, singer-songwriter and record producer. His gold-selling debut album, I Created Disco, was released in 2007 and contained the Top 10 singles "Acceptable in the 80s" and "The Girls". He has written and produced records for other recording artists including Kylie Minogue's X and his number 1 collaboration with British rapper Dizzee Rascal, "Dance Wiv Me".

His second studio album Ready for the Weekend was released on 17 August 2009 and reached number 1 in the UK Album Charts on 23 August. It contains the number 1 single "I'm Not Alone" the UK Top 5 Single "Ready for the Weekend", which was released on 10 August and the track "Flashback" which was released as the third single from the album on 2 November.

Favouring a naughty schoolboy look that makes him seem even younger than his already tender years (22 when his first major-label album was released), Scottish artist, producer, and remixer Calvin Harris has a similarly youthful and forward-looking approach to his music. Skipping the usual apprenticeship in the clubs or on indie labels, Harris went from posting his own D.I.Y. electroclash music online through MySpace and similar sites to signing with the multinational giant EMI almost in a single step.

An A&R representative from EMI liked what he heard and signed Harris to the label in 2006. Following a pair of successful singles, 'Vegas' and 'Acceptable In The 80s', Harris released his debut album, 'I Created Disco', in the summer of 2007. Along with his work as a solo artist, which includes touring in front of a full live band, Harris has become an in-demand remixer - working on singles by Jamiroquai, Groove Armada, All Saints and CSS - and wrote and produced a song for Kylie Minogue's 2007 comeback album.

► about JUNIOR JACK

Junior Jack caught the house virus and in the early 90s he started to release tracks under different names. In the same period he also launched his own label Noisetraxx to which DJs and producers like Roger Sanchez, Mouse T, Erick Morillo and Robbie Rivera contributed their remixing skills.

His first recorded success under the name of Junior Jack was with the single "My Feeling" on PIAS recordings in 2000 which entered all the national charts in Europe, the US and Australia. It was also the first time a Benelux based producer reached the top spot of the European dance charts.

Junior Jack was on the map but it was the next release which proved to be a milestone in his career. The classic bass-line monster "Thrill Me' was released in February 2002 and made a huge impact on dance floors across the world. Whilst being a commercial success, it also showed Vitos commitment to the underground house sound at a time. It was a big club hit that was immediately picked up by many top DJs who made it a dancefloor anthem across the world. The demand on Junior Jack as a DJ kept increasing and Vito who till then had always preferred working in his studio as a producer, decided to team up with Kid Crème. The pair quickly became one of the most popular acts on the scene and apart from playing regular slots at all the superclubs around the world including a residency at the Ministry Of Sound (London) they released an In The House mix album on Defected. The name Junior Jack quickly rose to fame on the dance scene and with it came more request on remixes for artists including Bob Sinclar, Moby , Seal ,Mary J Blige, Britney Spears, Duran Duran .........

At the start of 2003, Vito topped the UK singles chart with Make Luv, released under the name Room 5 on his own label Noisetraxx. The single kept the no. 1 position for 4 weeks making one of the most successful dance track ever in the UK. In Europe, Make Luv held on to its top rank of the European dance charts for an incredible 6 weeks in a row. The track went on to sell a grand total of over 700.000 copies worldwide.

But whilst Make Luv was continuing to dominate the local airplay and dance charts across the world, the Junior Jack follow up to Thrill Me was shaping up to become THE summer tune of 2003. E-Samba, an infectious Latin flavoured club smash, was released in the summer and resulted in dance floor frenzy everywhere it was played. The track was voted the summer anthem of 2003 by DJ magazine at the Ibiza awards where Junior Jack and Kid Crème also picked up the award of best newcomer DJs. In the meantime, Vito had been spending a lot of time in his studio working on what so many successful dance producers fail to deliver; a credible artist album with crossover potential.

The hotly anticipated debut full-length Junior Jack release was almost completed when the new Junior Jack single Da Hype was serviced to the DJ elite and received the same ecstatic reactions as E-Samba; months before its release as a single it was already featured in Q magazine as one of the top 3 best dance tracks ever. Vito started to work on a vocal version of the album for which Robert Smith (THE CURE) contributed the vocals.

The Latin influences of E-Samba are back in the jazzy soul stomper Hola whereas Stupidisco with its bursting cocktail of electro, funk and disco is already proving to be a favourite amongst the DJ elite. But Trust Its also shows different sides of Junior Jack as an artist with tracks like "Alone" and the minimal electronic "Depression".

Junior Jack's position at the forefront of Europe's dance music scene was consolidated by him winning 2 awards for Best Album and Best Artist of the Year in 2004 at The House Music Award'. The success story continues in 2005 with a 'Best House DJ' award at the annual DJ Awards extravaganza at Pacha, Ibiza.

New Album in 2010... can you wait?

about MARK FARINA

"BEST DANCE DJ" – URB
"MARK FARINA IS A DANCE MUSIC HEAVYWEIGHT" – BPM
"MOST UNDERRATED DJ IS MARK FARINA - HE IS STILL THE BEST!"
- Kaskade (in DJ Mag 2009)

Shortly after Mark befriended Derrick Carter in 1988 at a record store in Chicago, his passion for House music, and sharing it with the world, exploded.

Mark experimented with a deeper style, dropping De La Soul, disco classics and other stuff that wasn't being played in the main rooms of nightclubs. While exploring his love for the purist forms of House Music, Mark developed his trademark style: Mushroom Jazz; acid jazz infused with the West Coast's jazzy, organic productions along with urban beats.

Since then, Mark has been traveling the globe performing 100s of shows, to over one million club goers, a year. His House sets take fans on journeys to the jazzy side of Chicago House mixed San Fran style. Some of these sets have been known to last up to 8 hours. And sometimes you'll find Mark playing in two different rooms at the same party, showcasing his range of rocking the big room sound to the uber-chill.

Farina's taste making skills continue to turn the heads of crowds worldwide and consistently draw new fans to his style of chunky–funky rhythms and deep underground house. URB, MUZIK and BPM Magazines have all had him on their Top DJ's In The World lists.

The different faces of Farina appear on the various CDs released: MUSHROOM JAZZ series showcases a hip-hop, sub-groove, jazzy, dubby and downtempo vibe, SEASONS, a critically acclaimed House mix, and most recently highly acclaimed FABRIC 40 compilation.

Mark has been voted as one of the top DJs in the world by URB, MUZIK and BPM Magazines.
