Soul Clap will release their first album, EFUNK, this April on Wolf + Lamb.

By the time most people heard about them in 2010, Eli Goldstein and Charlie Levine had already been at it for years. They got their start throwing parties around Boston, most notably a Wednesday night series called Midweek Techno, which hosted dozens of DJs from around the world at an Irish pub in Cambridge. Meanwhile, their productions established a trademark sound that was as inspired by pop, soul and R&B as it was by house music, a mixture of influences that colors their original productions as well as their famous edits. And though their sound has evolved over the years, they've always stuck to a motto that until recently adorned their Twitter page: "slow and sexy wins the race."

Aside from a few tracks on split EPs, EFUNK ("Everybody's Freaky Under Nature's Kingdom") is Soul Clap's first batch of original material in almost two years. It shows them teaming up with a few close friends: guest vocals come from Baby Prince, AKA Gadi Mizrahi of Wolf + Lamb, and Greg Paulus from No Regular Play plays trumpet on the final track (Eli's dad, Gary Goldstein, plays bass on that one too). Other guest appearances include Jules Born of Voices of Black and Mel Blatt, formerly of the '90s UK pop group All Saints.

"The album is a culmination of our entire lives with music," Goldstein and Levine told us via email. "This music is totally different than what we would put on an EP. It's not designed for DJs or dancefloors, but we wanted it to be something we would have put on in high school while we were chilling with homies, cutting class or trying to kick it to a chick."

EFUNK was recorded in late 2011 at Soul Clap's home base in Miami, The Stillwater Social Club. All of the tracks are previously unreleased.

Nina Kraviz is release her debut album on Rekids.

Slated for release in February, the self-titled LP comes two years after Kraviz's first 12-inch on Jus-Ed's Uderground Quality imprint. The Russian DJ and producer (and one-time Breaking Through artist) has been highly in-demand ever since, with EPs on BPitch Control, Efdemin's Naïf imprint and finally Rekids, the label that's hosted her past few EPs and invited her to play at Panorama Bar in Berlin.

The upcoming album features all previously unreleased songs, except for "Ghetto Kraviz," the title track from her most recent EP. Keen-eared listeners might also recognize a few bits from her 2009 mix for Underground Quality's Club Tape Club Mix.

Kevin Saunderson has mixed the latest installment of Defected's In The House series.

A member of Detroit's seminal Belleville Three, Saunderson has been at the core of many projects during his 20+ year career, including Inner City, Reese, E-Dancer and his own KMS label. He follows in a line of influential names who have contributed to the In The Mix series, such as Danny Krivit, Dennis Ferrer and Giles Peterson among others. The mix looks to be a good example of the crossover style that brought him chart success in Europe in the late '80s. Throughout both discs he highlights his Detroit connections, spinning many of his own productions along with new remixes of old material by Robert Hood, Kenny Larkin and Carl Craig.

The Exclusives cherry-picks the tracks from every DJ-Kicks that's come out in the past five years, from Four Tet's "Pockets" off his 2006 mix to Photek & Kuru's "Fountainhead," which will appear on the forthcoming 39th edition of the series. It's the second time !K7 has compiled The Exclusives—the first installment came out in 2006 and reached all the way back to Kruder & Dorfmeister's inaugural mix from 1995.

Luciano has put together a Vagabundos digital mix, due for release this month.

Vagabundos is Luciano's latest party brand, which began with his residency at Pacha in Ibiza and has extended to events around the world (it also spawned a small clothing line). The upcoming mix, which will be his first since Fabric 41, shows his digital mixing method in full effect, with up to four tracks layered together at once, and elements of some songs lingering across multiple tracks. Selections venture far beyond the Cadenza stable, with cuts from the likes of James Blake, Moritz Von Oswald, Jamie Woon and DJ Sprinkles (though to be sure, Cesar Merveille and Guti make it in there too). Vagabundos will come out on Cadenza Lab, the influential label's digital subsidiary, and will be available exclusively through the Cadenza website.

Fabric's legendary mix series teams up with house music hero DJ Sneak [owner of Magnetic Recordings—ha. -ED] in February's installment. Following the edition of slow techno (now mysteriously known as "modern deep house") mavens Visionquest, DJ Sneak takes it back to the basics of classic house in all of its incarnations (something he knows quite well), from "boompty", to jackin' and everything in between.

DJ Sneak does not reinvent the wheel on this mix—and why should he? He pioneered the damn tire. Opening with fresh "Calcium" by Strip Steve and Das Glow—unexpected because it's released on aggressive electro Boys Noize Records sublabel BNR TRAX—the mix quickly descends into classic high-hat driven 127 beats per minute bopping house, rife with loopy vocal samples and saxophones. From there, listeners are taken on a subtly winding road of uplifting grooves (notably two tracks remixed by Belgium's Ramon Tapia) and "house music talking about house music" ubiquitous to the genre. DJ Sneak closes out with a big band feel in "Beware of The Swingers" by Cause & Affect. Fans of DJ Sneak will get exactly what they expect in Fabric 62: seamless, traditional house music mixed by a true master.

Release Note:

At first, The 2 Bears look like a novelty act – the gay subtext, the dressing up in bear suits, the vaguely unserious song titles. And in a world where one can wear a mouse head (deadmau5) or actually become robots (Daft Punk), the sight of two grown men capering about like manky team mascots suggests the likes of a moth-eaten Wombles, or The Tweets.

However, the men in the increasingly skanky bear suits are Joe Goddard (of Hot Chip, and behind last year's incredible solo single Gabriel) and man about town Raf Rundell. Since 2009 they've been delighting listeners with their Ministry of Sound radio show, Follow the Bears, and casually releasing EPs along the way.

They've taken the highlights of these EPs to construct their debut, and what an album it is. Their furry knees-up 'theme tune', Bear Hug, set their stall out nicely, having upped their profile last summer and alerted the disco nation to their wonder. Recent single Work brought a glimmer of house nation shininess to the dark days of the New Year, and earlier tunes Church and the title-track bookend the collection nicely.

Touches of skastep (a genre I've just invented) on Heart of the Congos, and country on Time in Mind, guarantee proceedings are never monotonous; these tangents also provide the pair's considerable songwriting chops with a nice stretch. The utopian existence of the disco is but a fleeting temporary state, and so beneath the optimistic 'dance your cares away' vibe there's also an element of the real world outside the club: Work acknowledges that times are tough, and while you have big dreams you need to actually, er, work at them.

Be Strong, in short, is superb: a joyous amalgam of disco textures and dancefloor stylings which never fail to bring a big grin to your face. A love letter to the last 20-plus years of dance nation sensations which references the finest moments with a cheery and cheeky approach, this is far from a pastiche. In a just world, this set would sell by the bucket-load. So yeah, follow the bears. You know it makes sense.

Lindstrøm, Six Cups of Rebel (Smalltown Supersound, 2012) shoots off in another direction. "No Release" is a kaleidoscopic organ like in one Steve Reich's rhythmic suites. Most of the album is in the vein of psychedelic funk EDM like his earlier project that he took the name of for the album. "De Javu" and "Magik" are super funky with strong acidic touches that float over the rhythms, with the latter being even more maniacal in its execution.

"Quiet Place to Live" is a wonderful funky space-disco segue from the preceding magic. "Call Me Anytime" is a tribal dance for the wondering ghostly voices. "Six Cups of Rebel" takes a breather trying to process everything for the closer "Hina" that is another disco spectacle.

Visionquest have mixed Fabric 61, due for release in early December.

Over the past two years, Visionquest has become one of clubland's most popular DJ and production ensembles. The group is made up of Seth Troxler, Ryan Crosson, Shaun Reeves and Lee Curtiss, four artists who grew up together in Michigan and got their music education at parties in Detroit. As an official collective they got started doing remixes, then developed into a DJ ensemble and finally a record label, which launched with one of the biggest records of 2011, Benoit & Sergio's Where The Freaks Have No Name (i.e. the one with "Walk & Talk").

Fabric 61 is Visionquest's first commercial mix. It reflects the same balance of pop and club sensibilities that characterizes the label, with vocal tunes by Cassius and Footprintz offsetting more stripped down tracks by the likes of STL and DVS1.

"When deciding together which tracks we wanted to go with we took into consideration the timelessness of the songs, tracks from our past and our present and presented them to tell our story," says Reeves of the mix. "The start is very representative of the Visionquest DJ sound and the end shows the eclectic sound of our label. It goes from music for clubs to music for life."

Rebel Rave 2 collects highlights from the past 12 months or so, and presents one new and exclusive track: an Art Department remix of "Paradise" by Jamie Jones. Sven Vath has mixed The Sound of the Twelfth Season, due out on Cocoon Recordings.

One of Cocoon's several annual mix series, Sound of the Season has always served a specific purpose: to bring together a slew of the records that defined the year for Sven Vath and his label mates. As a result, this year's compilation is heavy on 2011 anthems, including ubiquitous tracks like Todd Terje's "Ragysh," Steffi's "Yours" and Âme's remix of "Envision" by Osunlade. Vath includes a few gentler selections as well, kicking off the second disc (titled "Day") with the untitled A-Side from Workshop 13, Move D's latest cut of whimsical deep house. All in all, the Cocoon founder courses through more than two dozen tracks in roughly 160 minutes.

Since he first surfaced some five years ago, Brodinski has pushed a sound that's as eclectic as it is unsubtle, mixing up everything from hip-hop to acid house with an up-front, party-friendly attitude. This style quickly earned him high profile attention: Tiga boosted his profile early on by releasing one of his first EPs on Turbo, and a year later he was tapped to mix an edition of Bugged Out! Presents Suck My Deck. Fabriclive.60 shows him being just as flexible as ever. "I tried to include every track that has changed my life over the last two years going from slow motion techno to R & B, from backroom music to acid house," he says. Fred Falke is ready to release his debut artist album, Part IV.

The album comes more than a decade into the French producer's illustrious career, which includes remixes for the likes of Kelis and Jamiroquai, plus disco-flavored anthems like "Intro," one of his collaborations with Alan Braxe. "So much of modern music takes the ideas in the '70s and '80s and uses them in a very superficial way," Falke says. "I hope I have managed to create something that re-­asserts the musicality of this era within the context of modern music and modern production methods."

Part IV features previously unreleased tracks along with some of Falke's past productions, such as "808pm At The Beach" and "Look Into Your Eyes." It will hit stores in November or December via Kris Menace's label, Work It Baby.

Tiga and Zombie Nation are ready to release their first album as ZZT, entitled Partys Over Earth.

The two artists have been teaming up as ZZT since 2007, with a handful of EPs to their credit so far, all of which have come out on Turbo Recordings, Tiga's label. Their sound is anything but subtle, as anyone familiar with their solo work might guess (let's not forget that Zombie Nation is responsible for a little tune called "Kernkraft 400"). Partys Over Earth shows them doing what they do best: stomping, electro-tinged party bangers. (The promo version also has possibly the best watermarks of the year thus far, with Tiga whistling annoyingly and singing words like "mediafire," and "torrent sites.") The album's first single, Vulkan Alarm!, is currently available with remixes from Proxy and Jan Driver.

Deetron has mixed Balance 20, due for release on November 4th.

The mix shows Deetron mixing with both analogue and digital technology: the first disc is mixed digitally, with additional edits and production in Cubase and Wavelab, and the second is mixed entirely on vinyl using his usual three-turntable set-up. "This compilation is a celebration of the gorgeous format that is vinyl and a praise for the endless possibilities the digital world has to offer," he says.

Both halves pack in more than 25 notably varied tracks, from classic Autechre and Model 500 to recent cuts from Andy Stott, LV and Julio Bashmore. Deetron also includes one of his own unreleased tracks, "Croque," plus a new one from Ripperton called "Swept Illusions."

There's no rest for Danish electro whiz Anders Trentemøller. In recent years, his output has been steady and his live schedule busy, and 2011 is shaping up to be no different. This fall he will come to North America for a tour before releasing his new Reworked/Remixed collection on November 8 via his own In My Room label.
As the title suggests, this new double-disc set contains remixes by Trentemøller alongside original tracks from last year's Into the Great Wide Yonder, which have been reworked by an array of artists. Among the acts who appear here (either reworking or being remixed) are Depeche Mode, Modeselektor with Thom Yorke, Franz Ferdinand, Mew, UNKLE and more.

According to a press release, these 22 tracks include some of Trentemøller's favourite remixes, and contain styles that range from "crisp electronic beats, to atmospheric and filmic moments, to heavy post-rock mutations and beyond."

At her gigs and on her weekly show, the Radio 1 host's trademark style is defined by her far-reaching track selections, which aim to offer a snapshot of the current moment in dance music, both underground and mainstream. The Annie Mac Presents series follows this blueprint as well, with this year's mix encompassing everything from platinum-selling hip-hop artists (Lil Wayne and Drake) to UK bass acts like SBTRKT and Toddla T. The two-disc package will be the third in the series so far. As with past editions, it will see release on Island Records.

Australian producer Beni Single, now more widely known as simply Beni, will release his debut artist album, House of Beni.

Single first caught attention as part of the Bang Gang Deejays, a five-man DJ troupe renowned for pushing a raucous brand of compression-heavy electro throughout the mid-'00s. Alongside his Bang Gang commitments, the Sydney-based artist made music as one half of Riot In Belgium, a production duo that delivered two 12-inches via Headman's Relish Records before splitting shortly afterwards. Since then, Single has been producing solo, signing a number of singles to Kitsuné Music. His upcoming album, however, will be released via Modular Recordings, and features a number of guest vocalists, including LA-based Australian Sam Sparro.
