EMBASSY PLAYGROUND 2007 Playground 2007 - annual music festival Putri Duyung Cottages, Merlin Area Ancol Bay City, Jakarta Saturday, April 7, 2007 5PM - 5AM (Sunset - Sunrise) 3 Stages: Main (Merlin parking lot, 9000 capacity) Beach (Merlin Beach Stage, 6000 capacity) Cottage (Front of Cottages, private, 400 capacity) Artists: Paul Oakenfold (tbc) Groove Armada (tbc) The Rapture (confirmed) MC Vika Kova (confirmed) + 3 more supporting international acts Embassy Residents + max of 5 more top local DJs/acts + max of 6 local bands Event starts at 5PM, just before sunset on the beach stage, with local acts, co-organized with Aksara records. Possible line-up includes: Ape on the Roof, Goodnight Electric, Rock n' Roll Mafia, Tika, White Shoes and the Couples Company, Agrikulture. The climax of this session will be The Rapture, a dance/indie cross-over band that had a massive club hit in 2004 with "House of Jealous Lover". They are back with their critically and commercially acclaimed sophomore album Pieces of the People we Love, and are on a world tour to promote the album. The purpose of this section is to stress that Playground is not just a dance music event, or even a rave, it is a music festival with emphasis on dance and indie artists. The artists selection is important in bridging the indie crowd to the dance crowd. By 8PM, the main stage is open with residents and local DJs, continued by international acts (Paul Oakenfold etc.), the emphasis on music of this stage is techno/trance/big room dance sounds. Paul Oakenfold needs no introduction, he is one of the pioneers of dance music, has been constantly voted as the top 10 DJ in the world, and his label, Perfecto is also a hit-maker factory. After the afternoon indie session, the tempo of music on the beach stage will be upped with local and international acts (Groove Armada etc.) playing house sounds and its varieties. Groove Armada is one of the biggest dance bands that emerges from the 90s alongside Underworld, Orbital, Chemical Brother, Faithless and Basement Jaxx, but they are one of the few that can sustain and adapt their credibility through the new century. When listening to their hits such as "Superstylin'", "At the River", and "I See You Baby", the familiarity will definitely strikes back, even to those ones who doesn't even go to the clubs! The front of cottage area will be for chilling out, and is limited in access, only for VIPs, partners, Sponsors, Artists and Crews. Bars and VIP sections will be placed strategically all over the venue, and will be abundant in number. Playground is an annual music festival coming into its sophomore year, and is organized by Embassy. The first playground was held on June 3rd, 2006 at Taman Ria Senayan Complex, and has been nominated as outdoor event of the year in Paranoia Awards, and came second in Juice Magazine's best of 2006 edition as outdoor event of the year after the well established The Junction events in Bali. Embassy is the benchmark of any clubs or dance related happenings in Indonesia, coming into its 5th year, Embassy Jakarta has been placed safely in club goers hearts when they keep on coming back to us and repeatedly saying "Embassy is like my second home", and it is stamped with approval as Embassy Jakarta which consists of Embassy, Wonderbar (formerly [CO2] and Balcony, keeps on being voted as "best club" by various media and polls. With Playground, Embassy is set on a mission to create an international-scale independent/dance music festival that will finally able to put Indonesia on the map! #1244
