Raised on the small secluded Dutch island of Texel, Gabriel's childhood was anything but ordinary. At an early age he was influenced by his parent's diverse taste in music, they would play him anything from early Detroit techno, experimental music like Kraftwerk and Frank Zappa through to jazz from legends such as Dave Bruback and Louis Armstrong. This combined with Gabriel's talent for playing the drums soon meant that music would turn into a lot more than just something for him to listen to.

At the young age of 13 Gabriel was asked by a friend to help host a program at the only pirate stations that were around on the island at the time. Soon he discovered that not only did he have a passion for listening to good music and playing instruments," but also for playing records to other people.
After working on this show for two and a half years Gabriel got quite a reputation for playing good music, And although still enjoying this work on the radio station he was ready for something new. At 16 years of age Gabriel was subsequently picked up as a resident DJ for one of the two clubs that were on the island at the time.. playing every saterday for up to 600 people, entertaining them all with playing everything from run dmc, beasty boys to the latest house music, and back to TLC and destiny's child.. Two years later however," he decided it was time for bigger and better things and moved to the Dutch capital of Amsterdam to study at the culinary school, not knowing that his Dj career would as well be influenced by this move especially in such a short space of time!.

It was in Amsterdam amidst the then blossoming progressive house scene pioneered by the then still relatively unknown Sander Kleinenberg, DJ Remy and Roland Klinkenberg, that he would meet the people that would help shape his career and take it to the next level, Reinier Koolmees and Rob Spezeri, whom had at the time just started the now globally renowned online music magazine website Xpander. soon Gabriel got involved in the scene in Amsterdam and quickly joined the Xpander team starting doing both vinyl and cd reviews for them. but not before long he was as well interviewing the stars of the global dance scene. Gabriel has interviewed the likes of Pete Gooding, Steve Lawler, Steve Gerrard, Steve Porter as well as many others.
