Maldini -8.0
: A perfect end to a perfect career. Maldini did not put a foot wrong all afternoon, and was again his side's best defender, as he has been all season. Goodbye Paolo!

Calcio Debate: Top Five Paolo Maldini Games For Milan
The Dragonheart says ciao to Calcio today, so Goal.com's Vince Masiello runs down the most memorable moments of his club career...

Milan captain Paolo Maldini takes his final bow at the Stadio Franchi in Florence after 902 appearances for the Rossoneri, ending a remarkable career that spanned nearly a quarter of a century.

It all started in Udine...

5. The Debut

January 20, 1985 - Udinese v Milan (1-1) "Do you want to play on the left or on the right?" Swedish coach Nils Liedholm asked a 16-year-old Maldini during the interval of the game with the Zebrette at the Stadio Friuli. "You decide," replied Paolo. 'The Baron' put him on the right flank, replacing Sergio Battistini, and a star was born.

4. The Double

October 2, 2005 - Milan v Reggina (2-1) It may seem strange to find a mid-autumn Serie A game in this list, but Maldini netted his only career brace on that rainy day. The captain had not scored in the league for over three years, but bagged two goals in just 20 minutes at San Siro.

He opened the scoring after collecting a pass outside the penalty box and skipping past Giacomo Tedesco to beat goalkeeper Nicola Pavarini with a precise, angled drive, and then doubled the lead with a towering header from Rui Costa's corner.

3. The First Scudetto

May 15, 1988 - Como v Milan (1-1) Milan claimed the Serie A title for the first time since 1978-79 after a neck-and-neck race with Diego Maradona's Napoli.

The Partenopei had a four-point lead with just five games left to play, but the Rossoneri claimed impressive wins over Roma and Inter before conquering the San Paolo on May 1 to go top of the table. Two draws in the final games of the season sealed the trophy and Maldini's first ever silverware.

2. The Barca Demolition

May 18, 1994 - Milan v Barcelona (4-0) Fabio Capello's Milan reached the final of the European Cup for the second year on the trot, aiming to erase memories of the dismal defeat by Marseille in Munich. But the Diavoli came up against a formidable Barcelona side lead by Johan Cruijff, who wrote off his "prosaic" opponents prior to the Athens showdown.

The Dutchman was made to eat his words. Milan produced a masterclass performance, with the makeshift central defensive pairing of Maldini and Filippo Galli superbly deputizing for captain Franco Baresi and Alessandro Costacurta. A Daniele Massaro brace and goals from Dejan Savicevic and Marcel Desailly saw the Rossoneri triumph in Europe's premier club competition for the fifth time in their history.

1. The Last Champions League

May 23, 2007 - Milan v Liverpool (2-1) Maldini lifted the trophy for the second time as captain and for the fifth time in his career at the age of 38 after a 2-1 victory against Liverpool in Athens. Filippo Inzaghi scored a double to get revenge on the Reds for the incredible 2005 shoot-out loss in Istanbul.

"We have been the best team in Italy, Europe and the world over the past 20 years and the cycle has not ended yet," said Paolo after hoisting the cup aloft at the Olympic Stadium. Indeed, it was not over yet and 'Dragonheart' went on to conquer the world for one last time seven months later.

Galliani Announces Leonardo As Next Milan Coach

After coach Carlo Ancelotti confirmed he is leaving Milan, vice president Adriano Galliani revealed who will be his successor on the Rossoneri's bench...

Following the 2-0 victory against Fiorentina, which ensured Milan will gain direct access to the Champions League, coach Carlo Ancelotti officially revealed he is leaving the club after eight years, but did not confirm yet he is leaving for Chelsea.

Shortly thereafter, vice president Adriano Galliani also announced to Rai that the next coach will be Leonardo, until recently a manager at the club, and that he will be unveiled in a press conference tomorrow.

The former Rossoneri midfielder who played 96 games for the Milan club had been highly tipped to step in should Ancelotti decide to step down. The rumours have now been confirmed by the recent declarations as Milan opt to invest in a young coach for the future.

OFFICIAL: ANCELOTTI QUITS MILAN

Carlo Ancelotti has announced he is leaving Milan this summer "by mutual consent," but refused to confirm a deal with Chelsea.

"In agreement with the club we have decided to terminate the contract a year early," he said after the 2-0 victory at Fiorentina secured automatic entry into the Champions League.

"My wonderful experience with this side ends today. I thank all the players, directors, fans and everyone involved.

"I think it ends in the right way and is probably the right choice for both of us. The respect and affection remains with all the people who over the years participated in this adventure."

The split has been on the cards for some time, but Ancelotti continued to insist he had not lied when he said he was "100 per cent" sure of staying.

"We spoke about it after the game with [Vice-President Adriano] Galliani and [President Silvio] Berlusconi. We decided together to make this decision without problems. We part in sync and with no disagreements."

He is expected to join Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, especially after writing in his book about a meeting with Roman Abramovich.

"I cannot officialise my future because I do not have an agreement with any other club."

President Berlusconi did not always support his Coach in public, but again Ancelotti refused to criticise the patron.

"I have great respect and love for President Berlusconi. We've had a few disagreements over the years, but this is the day to thank him for eight wonderful years of my career.

"He let me spend nearly a decade at the helm of a great club that was at the top of world football, so my gratitude goes beyond the odd phone call.

"The decisions were made at the end of this season. It was a complicated campaign and we left it two months ago with the agreement we'd make the decision after the final game. That's what we did.

"I hope you'll know what my future is soon. London is not necessarily the guaranteed next stop."

QuoteFiorentina 0 - 2 Milan
Kaka 55 (M), Pato 76 (M)
Stadio Franchi

There was joy all round, as Milan reached the Champions League, waved goodbye to Paolo Maldini and Fiorentina fans still celebrated an impressive fourth place.

So much was at stake in this final round, as a win with two clear goals would send the Viola into the Champions League directly, pushing the Rossoneri into the preliminary round. It was also Paolo Maldini's final match and the Stadio Franchi crowd prepared a tribute to him before kick-off.

Alessandro Nesta returned to the squad for only the second time this season, but was not fit to play. Massimo Ambrosini sat out a ban with the sidelined Christian Abbiati, Marco Borriello, Kakha Kaladze and Daniele Bonera. Fiorentina had Felipe Melo and Dario Dainelli suspended, plus Adrian Mutu, Mario Alberto Santana, Sergio Almiron and Emiliano Bonazzoli injured.

Milan were undefeated in Florence since November 20 2005, but came face to face with their former flop Alberto Gilardino. It was Gila who had the first chance with a scuffed left-foot finish, but Marek Jankulovski's snapshot took a double deflection to skim the upright.

Franco Semioli nodded a Manuel Pasqual cross off target and Gilardino's header also skimmed the target, but on 24 minutes Mathieu Flamini's screamer thumped the top of the crossbar.

Sebastien Frey got down to parry a Gianluca Zambrotta snapshot. There was controversy on 41 minutes when Gilardino fell under pressure from Giuseppe Favalli, but the referee had a very clear view and waved away penalty appeals.

Jankulovski fired another promising shot over the bar, but Zambrotta needed some desperate defending after Nelson Dida hesitated in coming off his line.

There was a scare on 47 minutes when a Frey goal kick was knocked down for Gilardino, whose shot with the outside of his right foot shaved a coat of paint off the far post.

Milan broke the deadlock with a potentially decisive goal this season. Alessandro Gamberini did very well to stop Pippo Inzaghi connecting with the cross from six yards, but the clearance turned into an assist for Kaka right behind them.

Now Fiorentina needed to score three goals to reach third place. A chaotic move nearly made it 2-0, as Inzaghi tried to set up David Beckham, then dribbled between three Viola jerseys to drill over under pressure from Gamberini.

Pato scored the only goal when these two teams last met and he was on target again. The Duck sprung the offside trap on Kaka's through ball and waltzed round defenders to chip Frey.

In stoppages the Stadio Franchi gave a standing ovation to Maldini as he left the pitch for the last time and was buried in embraces from his teammates. Alessandro Nesta also made his debut this season after back problems.
Fiorentina: Frey; Comotto, Gamberini, Zauri, Pasqual (Kuzmanovic 70); Donadel, Montolivo; Semioli, Jovetic (Jorgensen 64), Vargas (Gobbi 64); Gilardino

Milan: Dida; Zambrotta, Maldini, Favalli (Nesta 77), Jankulovski; Beckham (Gattuso 81), Pirlo Flamini, Seedorf; Kaka, Inzaghi

QuoteInter Star Mario Balotelli Goes Shopping At Rivals Milan's Store - Report

Nerazzurri fans will not be pleased with the pictures printed in the Italian press this morning...

13 May 2009 09:41:22
When Inter striker Mario Balotelli shot to fame last year after netting a sensational brace against Juventus in the Coppa Italia, he quickly started grabbing plenty of column inches in the Italian press.

Everyone came to know his life story and how he was born to Ghanaian immigrants in Palermo and then raised by a foster family in the province of Brescia. Much was written about his past  and, among other things, it was alleged that 'Super Mario' supported a team with red and black stripes as a child: Milan.
He explained that he just used to watch Milan tapes to see his idol Marco van Basten in action.

However, La Gazzetta dello Sport readers were treated to a very compromising picture this morning: Mario went shopping
with a friend and was spotted in front of an official Milan store, leaning against the entrance door and chatting with the owner.

Meanwhile, it is claimed that his gesture after netting a goal against Chievo last weekend was not aimed at the Clivensi supporters, but rather at Jose Mourinho, who had apparently reprimanded the striker at half-time.

tetep aja dapetnya londo buangan cink... :-\

so indonesia tuan rumah piala dunia 2022? gw sih berharap ga dapet, kalo masih begitu2 aje kelakuannya... daripada malah bikin tambah malu... sorry kalo jadi oot sampe WC2002... hahaha...
