Release Note:

The next album by When Saints Go Machine is called Konkylie, and will come out this June on !K7.

When Saints Go Machine are a Danish electro pop group that have been on the rise since 2007, headlining clubs around Copenhagen and opening last year's Roskilde Festival. Their music sports a club-friendly electronic sound–thanks in part to band members Silas Moldenhawer and Jonas Kenton, who produce together as Kenton Slash Demon–but often with a moody edge, as heard on their Arthur Russell-inspired single Fail Forever. Konkylie is their second full-length so far, after 2009's Ten Makes a Face, which came out on EMI Denmark. According to a press release, the band has worked steadily on the album since then, and the result is a bit more challenging than anything they've come up with to date. "If you spend two years on 11 songs then there will be a lot of detail and strange sounds in there," says vocalist Nikolaj Manuel Vonsild.

17. T.E.E.D – "Household Goods" (Justin Martin Remix Edit) [MP3 Bonus Track]

Release Note:

It took eleven chapters for Kitsune Maison to finally find a tracklist that could encapsulate Parisian label's true nature. As Gildas Loaec explains, "We're perceived as a club label when really we've always been between 'club' and 'indie', and this new compilation sits right at the crossroad of the two."

From the mysterious act behind opening track Let's Go All The Way and its XX-esque beats to the romantic synth of Alexander Dexter Jones' Phantastic Phone Call, this Indie-Dance Issue is maybe the catchiest compilation ever released by Kitsune. This doesn't make it disposable or superficial neither.

Echoes of The Rapture and Phoenix drift through the notes of Housse De Racket's Roman. Polarsets are extremely powerful, like JJ72 through Friendly Fires. Shadows of Foals cast an intriguing atmosphere of darkness on Gallop's Miami Spider. XX's Romy dominates the liquid synths of Creep's Days.

This compilation oozes with Italo-disco, indie, garage. It's going to be very hard to find anybody that won't be enthralled by these tunes. A must have!

Release Note:

Ed Banger Records will release Sebastian's first long-player, Total.

In remixing names like Daft Punk, Klaxons and Cut Copy, some have come to regard SebastiAn as typifying the sound of French electro. His first album is said to continue this thread while reflecting the album's title, spanning a range of influences and moods. "Some say he is the dark side of Ed Banger records, I certainly know he likes it, and I must say I agree with that," said label founder Busy P ahead of the release. "But I also believe that SebastiAn created what people call the Ed Banger sound. Today he's pushing that little bit further."

There will be plenty of room for experimentation, too, as Total will contain a whopping 22 tracks, including collaborations with M.I.A, Mayer Hawthorne and Gaspard Augé from Justice.

11 Under Dress (feat. Warrior Queen) 03:23
12 U Got Me Burnin Up (Club Cirque) (feat. Coool Dundee) 03:16

Release Note:

Chrissy Murderbots first album for Planet Mu is a collection of tracks that should come with the warning «be prepared to sweat». The last few years have seen Chrissy working hard on the optimum formula for getting down and having non-stop fun. 'Womens Studies' is an album of party starting, populist mutations with vocal contributions from the Dancehall mcees MC ZULU, Rubi Dan and Warrior Queen, plus rappers Popeye, Coool Dundee and Johnny Moog.

It's made with a brazen and unashamed love for dance music, mixing energetic tropes into a sticky tropical punch. The influence of Ghetto House and Juke from his chosen home of Chicago hangs over the album. From the off, things get fleet-footed on Break You Off with its night-time atmosphere built from Rhodes chord progressions and sexy vocals over tight, subtle rolling footwork drums and bass; its like a 160bpm musical massage.

Later on Bussin Down continues the footwork influence with a sped-up grooving funk sample, over which DJ Spinn gives the orders. Elsewhere 'Heavy Butts' seesawing bassline and 8-bit melody gets the message across loud and clear, while the impressionist footwork of 'Jiggle' is probably the most jiggling piece of music ever recorded. Other tracks such as New Juke Swing mix crunchy drums of the kind you might find on a Teddy Riley production with a bassline of an early grime record while Rubi Dan acts as master of ceremonies The Vibe Is So Right, featuring MC ZULU, pits chopped breakbeats against big basslines at funky house speed, which quickly intensify into sharp junglist patterns. On Bump Uglies Chrissy mixes cute girl vocals chopped up over a flat dancehall beat while MC Popeye rides the rhythm making his intentions clear, while the album's poppiest moment Sweet Thang features Coool Dundee and Johnny Moog in an inspired high speed mix of jungle and electro with soul vocals and mcing.

Things get decidedly early 90s with Warrior Queen on Under Dress a strange amalgam of acid and (more) New Jack Swing, with Warrior Queen dropping some filthy lyrics. The 90s revival continues with the U Got Me Burnin Up (Club Cirque) which mixes high speed ravey piano and diva samples with crackin 160bpm juke and hip house vocals from Coool Dundee. On 'Women's Studies' Murderbot manages to twist underground music forms into a new kind of high quality pop music that's a joy to listen to.

Release Note:

Has it really been six years since 13 & God's self titled debut album? That record, the fruition of a long-term collaboration between Anticon lads Doseone, Jel, Dax Pierson and Jordan Dalrymple and Weilheim poppers The Notwist was an oddity in anyone's record collection. A deeply strange blend of Anticon's patented dark blend of grubby rap and The Notwist's similarly distinct German electronic pop, the album was a triumph in both its originality and its strange ability to lock itself away in the deepest recesses of the mind (seriously I still hum some of the songs...). It's been far too long a wait for the follow-up, but I can safely say that 'Own Your Ghost' is a worthy successor.

Kicking off with the familiar acoustic Acher brothers sound on 'It's Own Sun', possibly the biggest surprise is to hear Doseone's voice cooing rather than rapping. Soon this makes way for Micha Acher, but eventually those familiar tones build up to a chatter, re-enforcing the clipped Subtle-engineered beat and we're back with the band we know and love. Through verses of Dose's nasal rap, hazy electronics and the
kind of jangly softly-spoken indie you really only get from Weilheim, 'Own Your Ghost' manages to bring everything we fell in love with back in 2005 and while it doesn't add much in the way of new development, it's hard to get mad at something so damned beautiful. Recommended.

Release Note:

Atari Teenage Riot will release a new album this June called Is This Hyperreal?

It's been 11 years since the electronic punk outfit released their last LP, 60 Second Wipeout, and from the looks of things they haven't changed too much in the meantime; the upcoming album promises to be just as noisy and politically charged as anything they've put out to date. "It is the definite protest album for the Google age," says frontman Alec Empire. "Musically we have taken ATR's signature sound way into the future. The beats have more punch, the basslines are heavier and the songs possess another level of depth." Lyrically, the album explores topics such as human trafficking, class war, Wikileaks and the like. Aside from Empire, ATR's current lineup includes longtime member Nic Endo and a new MC, CX KiDTRONiK.

Dominik Eulberg will release his next album, Diorama, this May on Traum.

Eulberg's music has often been inspired by nature, which makes sense for a former biology student whose past professions include forest park ranger. Diorama could be his earthiest album yet, which each track devoting itself to one of the 11 "wonders of domestic nature," which Eulberg picked out with the help of German nature magazine NABU. Wonders that made the cut include bats, the bee orchid, the glow worm, the Icelandic cyperine, water and ants. Each of these gets its own blurb in the liner notes, explaining just what makes this particular wonder so great. "One ant alone is not capable of big achievements," Eulberg writes. "But through the brilliant, self-organised state formed out of millions of ants, a collective intelligence comes into being."

Release Note:

Panorama Bar 03, mixed by Prosumer, is due out this May on Ostgut Ton.

Out of all of the Berlin club's (20 some odd) residents, none are more house-obsessed than Prosumer. Though most of his sets are peppered with techno, disco and acid, his specialty is warm, jacking house, be it from late '80s Chicago or current day Berlin. By the looks of it, Panorama Bar 03 stays loyal to this style, mixing up new tracks by Steffi and Hunee with classics from Fingers Inc and Theo Parrish. As with all of the Berghain and Panorama Bar mixes, a handful of exclusives are includes as well, some of which come from artists whose identities are under wraps (Soundstore, Soundso and TSOS). The 12-inch sampler for Panorama Bar 03 is due for release in May, a few days before the mix itself. It features exclusive tracks from Steffi, Hunee and a new project called Soundstore.

slaphead faun. after discarding that name he released his first
album 'tracks' on the legendary label worm interface in 2003
soon followed by ep's and full length releases on labels like
jenka music, tender productions, suburban trash industries and
mindwaves (where slaphead faun rose again as an album title)
his music has been broadcasted across the airwaves by such
luminaries as legendary british dj legend john peel and mary
anne hobbs to name a few, and he has toured in scandinavia
germany, uk, spain & turkey, both solo and as a member of
groups. over the years he became part of the intriguing and very
talented young danish school of electronica and a driving force
of the north european electronic music stage. currently he lives
in berlin and studied electronic music at the academy of his
former home town of aarhus

Karsten Pflum pays tribute to the glory days of idm without
losing focus on the future of the genre. he explores the
boundaries of heavy bass driven dubstep, frantic d'n'b and
breakcore, combining soulful soundscapes with hard complex
rhythm programming and treatments.

Artist: Mergrim
Title Of Album: Invisible Landscape
Label: Liquid Note
Catalog #: LNR 011
Year Of Release: 06-04-2011
Genre: Ambient / IDM / Electronic
Quality: V0 VBR/44,1/Joint-Stereo
Tracks: 10
Time: 47:06 min
Size: 87,4 MB

Tracklist:

01. Beautiful Corruption
02. Soft'n Poetry
03. Arch feat.Luca Luca Don Chikku
04. Senkyou
05. Step of the Flakes
06. Shdwgrph *Grain
07. Ideal That Fade Out
08. Absentminded Drowsiness
09. Noir Noir
10. Dry Aesthetic

Release Note:

Invisible Landscape..., the debut solo release from Mergrim has been a long time coming. Since beginning performing with bands in 1998, moving on as a producer/composer in his own capacity in 2004, to finally dropping his debut release in January 2011, his first venture into solo territory has certainly had a long gestation period indeed. However, he hasn't been sitting idle, carefully honing his slicing, chop and glitch skills over the years and putting them to good use on Invisible Landscape...

As 'Beautiful Corruption' takes off, all glitch and sliced piano, synth pads stab through concisely at regular intervals, cracking the crust of drilling pulses and beats. 'Arch feat. Luca Luca Don Chikku' continues in the heavily edited realm, and sees sliced vocal clippings peppered over relentless glitching rhythms. The album then takes a pleasant turn for the mellow on 'Senkyou', sounding extremely akin to a certain long-standing Warp artists' back catalogue, particularly "Selected Ambient Works" era (c'mon, you know who i'm talking about). It provides but a brief respite from the chaotic quantisation elsewhere, allowing your brain (and ears) to take a breath before diving back in.
'Shdwgrph *Grain' slips things back to glitch gear, steadily evolving from an almost dubsteppy beginning before moving dangerously close to minimal house territory. 'Absentminded Drowsiness's' gentle beginnings keep things slightly restrained once more, displaying Mergrim's more contemplative side, which could have been allowed to evolve slightly further to add a little more balance and maturity to the track set. Steady drum glitches threaten to take over, yet are only barely kept in check. Closer 'Dry Aesthetic' swings lightly towards trip-hop, and is perhaps one of the most promising tracks in terms of evolution, hinting at a more restrained future sound. Definitely a step in the right direction.

There's much to like here, however a little more restraint could have been exercised as far as the glitch is concerned. Nearly 70% of each piece goes through Mergrim's chop shop, and while it's all quite cleverly done, it becomes tiresome on the ear over time. In order to evolve more in the future, Mergrim needs to put the knife down. Nevertheless, this is the face of Modern Japanese pop electronica, emerging amongst cohorts like Cokiyu, Aus and the Flau collective. An intriguing yet ever so slightly underwhelming debut.

The Frankfurt label has always had a thing for compilations–between the various mix series and their annual alphabetically named albums, they tend to put out three or four each year, but Eleven Years Cocoon marks their first full-length collection of remixes. The release looks back on the full scope of Cocoon's catalog, with new versions of some of their most famous tracks, such as Dinky's "Acid in My Fridge," Guy Gerber's "Timing" and Martin Buttrich's "Headhunter," which get reworked by Visionquest, Kollektiv Turmstrasse and Roman Flügel respectively. The collection will be available on CD, and comes with an all-Cocoon bonus mix by label newcomer Patrick Kunkel.

The next album by Hiroshi Watanabe is called Sync Positive, and is due for release at the end of April.

Watanabe has remained prolific ever since his debut in the mid-'90s, with over a dozen full-lengths released so far, though the majority of his output has been under the alias Kaito, a project that's been a staple of Kompakt over the last decade. Stylistically, Sync Positive shows the Japanese producer staying loyal to his trademark sound: atmospheric house and techno with consistently epic melodies. Though he still lives in Tokyo, the album will come out on Klik Records, an Athens-based label that's put out a handful of Watanabe's releases before, including two of his full-lengths.

Release Note:

Africa Hitech, AKA Mark Pritchard and Steve Spacek, will release their first album this May through Warp, entitled 93 Million Miles.

Pritchard is probably best known as half of the '90s ambient duo Global Communication (he also produces as Harmonic 313). Spacek first made a splash 10 years ago with his own ambient group, simply called Spacek, and since then has worked solo and in projects like Space Invadas (he also happens to be the brother of drum & bass artist D-Bridge). The two producers first teamed up as Africa Hitech at the Red Bull Music Academy in 2007 and have put out two EPs for Warp since then, both of which flirt with elements of dubstep, grime and funky. All of the tracks on 93 Million Miles are previously unreleased, except for "Out in the Streets," which is available as of today through Bleep. As with their last two records, the sleeve design is done by the artist Andy Gilmore.

Release Note:

Exhilarating hip-hop instrumentals and hyperactive odd-tronica from one of the UK's most promising beat- crafters. Already lauded by Gaslamp Killer, Pitchfork and Mary Anne Hobbs (who singled him out as her 'Favourite Unsigned Artist of 2010′), Young Montana has now found a home with Alpha Pup. Most artists take a few years in the spotlight to develop, but this wee fella – apparently only 20 years old – feels already like the finished article, his debut full-length a dazzlingly ambitious and fully-realized affair.

Hailing from sunny Coventry, his abundant musicality and kinetically edited style brings to mind vintage Prefuse 73, splicing and dicing fragments of steamy soul, techno, grime, folk and On The Corner-style freak jazz into lurching, luminescent beat patterns that make even Mike Slott's junkyard-falling-off-a-cliff beat style sound static. It's tough to pick favourites, but the way the looped lovers' vocals and breezy horns of 'Bad.day' dissolve dramatically into a sea of undulating, echo-plexed techno-dub is one of the album's most arresting moments. 'Mynnd' is the sound of YM's imagination in overdrive, climaxing in a heads-down groove fashioned out of sawing, distorted bass and twitchy drum edits that nudge us into almost avant-garage territory. 'Hot Heathrr' shows just what can be achieved with genuine talent and some decent cracked software these days, with what feels like a million different melodious samples and drum clusters battling for supremacy. Yes, there are moments where you wish he'd stop fiddling and just let the groove do the talking, but it's churlish to complain; that really ain't the game he's playing. And while there's a hell of a lot going in every track, it's arranged and spliced with great discipline; even the busiest compositions are coherent and balanced and that's exactly what makes it such a mind-boggling trip to listen to. Honestly, if this was Hudson Mohawke's new album then everyone at the planet would be hailing it as a masterpiece; don't let the fact that Young Montana is less well-known obscure the magnitude of his achievement. Big up.

Everyone, without exception, considers Stéphane Pompougnac to be the musical image of a certain idea of French luxury that is represented by such brands as Chanel and Dom Pérignon! With 5 platinum and 14 gold discs, along with 5 million album sales worldwide, he made his mark on people s minds and ears with a collection recorded exclusively for the Hôtel Costes almost 14 years ago.

Now, on these new collections, he develops a vision that is both more personal and more wide-ranging, displaying a palette of sounds that reach beyond the gates of the famous establishment and out into the rhythms of the day and the night. These two times of day let him show two different facets of his personality. For this new musical journey follows above all his long-held desire to work on a more club project that reflects the music her has been playing as a DJ around the world since 1986.

Release Note:

We are proud to be unveiling the lost releases of the Ghostly catalog. Ben Benjamin, of MIDWEST PRODUCT and POSTPRIOR affiliation made these songs a decade ago and they sound as good today as they did then, if not better. A burned copy of the album ended up on the stereo at a party and caught the ear of Ghostly founder Sam Valenti IV in 2000. The signing of Midwest Product soon followed and this never-before-released album finally sees the light of day, 10 years on.

Ben Benjamin explains, "It [the album] was completed in April of 2000. I made the album for myself, never expecting anyone beyond a few friends to hear it. The title is a description of what inspired it. I would take long drives on back roads to clear my head, and I couldn't figure out what CD to play. This was before the convenience of mp3 players, and I just wanted an album that was effective in the background or foreground, allowing my attention to wander and return effortlessly. It worked for me, and it would please me a great deal if it happens to do the same for other listeners."

Release Note:

The next album by Black Strobe member Arnaud Rebotini is called Someone Gave Me Religion, and is due for release this May.

Rebotini has spent most of his career making music as part of Black Strobe, the French outfit that began as a duo with Ivan Smagghe and today exists as a four-piece band. But he also has plenty of solo work under his belt, including the 2008 album Music Components and a string of earlier records under the name Zend Avesta. Someone Gave Me Religion is his first solo release in two years, and has much of the goth-inspired electro fans would expect from Rebotini, plus an extended ambient piece, aptly titled "The First Thirteen Minutes of Love." It marks the first full-length on Blackstrobe Records, Rebotini's new label that launches next month.

The full album will be preceded by a single for Personal Dictator, due out on April 11th. That one features remixes by Mixhell, Motor and The Hacker, plus an exclusive track called "Twilight of Gods."

Release Note:

Wolfram Eckart from Vienna has been on the forefront of the italo disco revival since 2005 with his label Diskokaine and productions under his monikers The Diskokaines or Marflow. As Wolfram he is now releasing a true electro disco fireworks with guest appearances of euro dance legend Haddaway (!!), Holy Ghost!, Hercules and Love Affair, Patrick Pulsinger, Sally Shapiro, Legowelt, Sebastian (Heartbreak/Lex Records) and former Patrick Cowley prot,g, Paul Parker. Andy Butler ( Hercules & Love Affair ) on Wolfram: When talking about music the term "Euro" is one that evokes strong reactions to music lovers. needless to say some people think of "la bouche", and the desire to dwell any further on the subject ends there. they often forget that donna summer's "i feel love" or kraftwerk's early excursions were the beginnings of that Euro sound.

They ignore that Italo disco, Italy's dancefloor oriented version of new wave and arguably the most vibrant genre of the "Euro" sound, was being played by the most important disc jockeys in the United States from Frankie Knuckles to Larry Levan. Even in the 90's "Euro-house" and European acid house tracks from labels like ZYX and R & S, were being dropped by the likes of Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson. Today, modern American commercial producers are incorporating elements of it with each new single we hear every week. Cue the Lady Gaga record.

Wolfram is a musician and producer (executive prod. Sally Shapiro "Disco Romance") whose record intelligently and lovingly sings the praises of the significant contributions that the euro sound from those early days of electronic music dance has made on pop music. Wolfram is an aesthete, operating in that Warholian tradition of seeing beyond what is considered by many to be "trash" and finding the beauty in it. The songs are listenable; so listenable, that in a way, listening feels like a guilty pleasure. When truly analyzed and contextualized however, the listening experience becomes a more substantial one- one might go so far as to even say a challenging one. The approach is a fun and emotional one. There are a host of collaborators; some new- namely "Hercules and Love Affair", "Holy Ghost!", Patrick Pulsinger, Sebastian of "Heartbreak", renowned Dutch producer "Legowelt" and "Johan and Sally Shapiro" and some old- namely Paul Parker who is a Patrick Cowley produced cult hi-nrg disco vocalist who reached number 1 in 1983 with "Right on Target" which is still heard in recent dj-mixes of guys like "Aeroplane" (in their BBC1 Essential 500th mix) and "Haddaway" ("What is Love"), who really needs no introduction. The result is a truly remarkably colorful and diverse collection of songs that lift the spirits and will undoubtedly inspire make out sessions on the dancefloor.
