Analog is analog, digital is digital..

Its true kalo analog bisa memiliki "colour" unik tersendiri melalui internal dsp engine nya, pre-amp spull power yg nyata instead of emulasi, serta proses konversi yang menghasilkan sifat "unpredictable" didalamnya melalui proses2 eksternal seperti colouring n jitter dari kabel.. (sebagus apapun merknya, its still there), plus ditambah sela beda headroom en gain range antara si hardware (fx maupun synth) dengan input si converter AD.

NAMUN Menurut gw pun digital udah bisa mencontek result output atau karakter dari si hardware itu secara hampir sempurna (80% lah.. U can't tell the difference kecuali kuping loe dewa en telah amat terlatih)

Paling bedanya antara si hardware yang cukup dengan basic presetnya, si digital butuh chain fx maupun setting yg lebih ekstrim untuk menyamakan hasil si hardware tersebut (berdasarkan level peak maupun vu/rms, lissaljous stereo dan spectrum read).

In my conclusion it's PRACTICALLY almost the same..

Apalah gunanya segala detail en specific vintage feeling tersebut kalo ujung ujungnya kita hajar BRICKWALL loudness??

Peak si sama sama 0db, tapi Pop nowadays play at average -12, -11 and even -10 RMS tops..

Look out beatport release nowadays.. Rata rata bermain di -9 ato bahkan -8 db RMS.. There's no dynamic at that point.. Mostly gw perhatiin anak2 rvlx pun disini bermain di range segitu juga.

Everything is squished in, blom lagi klo proses mixing tergolong ngasal, dimana pada akhirnya semua dihajar compressor sebagai limit, not to mention apalagi level priority sound yang udah kita susun trus kemakan sama setting multiband.

So intinya apakah beda HW en SW masih bisa di notice pada titik ini??? Not to mention this is dance music.. Hahaha

We live in a LOUD era, in dance, lo bisa bikin track yg dynamicnya berasa en hidup di range -10 ato -11, tapi yang ada, orang bakal bilang lagu lo kurang power, kurang keras, ato bahkan ada yg dgn nekat bisa bilang BELOM MASTER..

Kalo mau ngikutin result standard sekarang..

Masihkah tu detail HW, SW en detail sound pengaruh????

Actually Yes masih pengaruh..SW vs HW... kalo ga ngapain tuh studio gede itu2 itu masih menghamba sm analog and digital processing, ga semua total digital.. event the best brickwall limiter still dominate by hardware (Waves, CraneSong, Manley etc) yg dipake di semua studio mastering di dunia ini.. check bob ludwig, dll
Kalo gue ngobrol sm org2 kaya Tomy Aquarius, Sadat.. mereka sangat tergantung sm hardware.. contohnya pas Sadat mau mixing single Electron45 di studio gue.. dia bawa summing amp (Dangerous D box) karena dia ingin dpt analog karakter dan hasil yg lebih halus dan lebar.
Dan kl Tomy dia bilang dia selalu pake Manley EQ di master nya buat dapet detail freq 5khz keatas nya halus dan mahal (high frequency mahal) memang hrs org2 sgt detail yg tau perbedaan sounds dari EQ yg high ends dagn EQ yg low ends...
So there is quiet different between SW and HW indeed..

Right On.. just how creative you are indeed.. tp ada sedikit koreksi juga sih.. Kalo soal sounds analog mungkin masih punya karakter yg ada nilai + nya dibanding pure digital.

Contohnya buat rekaman serius semua artist besar dunia dan lokal masih mendapatkan soundsnya di studio yg berbasis analog and digital. apalagi engineer mereka sangat tergantung sm mixer yg segede meja makan itu..

Dan terbukti kok kalo dgn mixer analog seperti itu memang frequency dan imagingnya super lebar.. Dan memang duit ngak bohong. bahwa mixer yg segede itu harganya ratusan juta.

Di indonesia mixer yg SSL 4000 hanya ada 2 setau gue (aquarius pondok indah dan afra rawamangun), di luar negri rata2 studio2 gede pake mixer2 SSL, Neve, Chandler EMI TGi desk, Etc
malah producer2 hiphop2 itu beli buat di studio private nya di rumahnya mereka ( Timbaland, etc)

Oh ya juga mengenai compressor , eq, preamps ( untuk kita take sounds dari luar seperti vocal,gitar, bass ) ada bbrp merk yg melegenda di kuping engineer2 itu seperti Pultec, UA 1176, API 550, Neve, Chandler kalo kalian search di google liat2 studio2 yg besar2 di luar negri apalagi ABBEY ROAD itu Isinya merk2 ini.
Ada karakter high to low ends dari hardware yg sepertinya yg belum bisa di gantikan oleh soffware , apalagi buat preamps vocal. Alat2 seperti ini its a must di studio2 yg berskala international.

Tapi guys, disini gue talking about in global ya.. mungkin lebih ke production yg profesional. kalo buat dance genre dgn digital saja sudah mencukupi. hanya kalo kita memang mau tweak lebih jauh lagi mungkin harus sekali2 coba pake analog. biar tau gimana karakternya.

One more things, perbedaan Soft Synth (Vst ,Au,Rtas host) dibanging dgn Synth Hardware mungkin tebalnya sudah consider sama cuma ada yg membedakan antara digital synth dan analaog adalah tiap Synth yg hardware itu punya karakter yg benar2 beda tiap merk dari tebal soundsnya , lebarnya, sinewave nya,
Kalo Softsynth perbedaaan karakternya ga terlalu jauh menurut gue.. karena mereka di produce oleh satu source juga yaitu komputer kita (MAC or PC) I mean those engine is the same,. jadi itu cuma manipulasi sounds aja..

Sedangkan kalo synth harware per synth itu hardwarenya beda2 jeroannya tiap2 merk (Korg,Alesis,Roland,Waldorf,etc) Jadi producing soundsnya pastinya beda kan...

So this is the philosophy yg gue denger2,
