Release Note:

Barcelona-based label Galaktika Records will release a double-disc compilation to mark their fifth anniversary next month, mixed by Maetrik and Garnica.

Garnica has been part of the Galaktika family since its early days, beginning with 2006's The Lucky Guy EP and eventually leading to his debut album, Cae Nieve En Caracas. Maetrik, on the other hand, is fairly new to the label, having just debuted on it last year with Action Series Vol.1, a split with Garnica. Though he appears on the compilation as Maetrik, the past two years have seen the American born artist recast himself as Maceo Plex, a new guise with a recent album on Crosstown Rebels (and an exclusive track on this mix). Both mixes are heavy on Galaktika releases, but are by no means exclusive to the label's catalog. The release follows an unmixed Galaktika anniversary collection that came out last September.

Title Of Album: Knee Deep

Bitrate: 320kbps / 44.1 kHz / Full Stereo

05.Nothing Has Changed 5:14
06.Two Feet Off Ground 4:58
07.Checkers 6:21
08.We're Alive, It's A Miracle 3:56

Release Note:

WhoMadeWho will release their next album, Knee Deep, this April on Kompakt, to be followed later this year by a second full-length.

The Danish trio have always seemed like a rather fun-loving bunch, playing an upbeat style of rock/electronic crossover with the occasional club cover thrown in (namely, Mr. Oizo's "Flat Beat" and Benny Benassi's "Satisfaction" from 2004's Two Songs For Your Party). But Knee Deep is a slightly more somber affair. Many of the songs are still funky and energetic, but the mood is a bit more reflective (as you could guess from titles like "There's An Answer" and "We're Alive, It's a Miracle"). It was reportedly influenced by a series difficult events in the band members' lives, from label disputes to marriage problems to the burning down of a childhood home.

According to a press release, WhoMadeWho spent the early part of 2010 holed up in a "semi-built hotel" in Copenhagen composing the album, and ultimately produced two very different sets of songs. Rather than trying to meld them together, they decided to release them separately. Details on the second record are still scarce, though it's planned for release in 2011. Knee Deep will come out in April, and will mark the group's debut on Kompakt.

12. Yeah (Version) (Feat. Guests Of Nature) 5:57

Release Note:

Deniz Kurtel will release her first album, Music Watching Over Me, on Crosstown Rebels.

Though Kurtel has already toured internationally with Wolf + Lamb and Crosstown Rebels, electronic music is only her most recent endeavor. The Turkish-born artist has a long history in academia and visual art, and specializes in light sculptures; her pieces have appeared at Burning Man and on the Wolf + Lamb Experience tour, and one has hung over the Marcy Hotel's dance floor for years. Her music career began when she moved to New York in the early '00s. After becoming friends with Zev and Gadi Mizrahi, she move into the Marcy Hotel and started making tracks.

Kurtel has only put out two records so far: Whisper EP on Wolf + Lamb and Yeah on Crosstown Rebels. Aside from an album version of "Yeah," Music Watching Over Me features all previously unreleased tracks, more than doubling the size of Kurtel's catalog to date.

Title Of Album: We Are Rising

Catalog #: ABR 0114

02. All the Right Things
03. Rising
04. Leave the Riches
05. Flowers
06. Chase
07. Claws
08. Let Go
09. Rebuild

Release Note:

New York-based electronic artist Ryan Lott (aka Son Lux) is set to release his new sophomore album, We Are Rising, next Tuesday, April 26th. At this time, I have not given the album a full spin yet*, but I can tell you that it is an album you can really get lost in -- and I mean that in the best way possible. We Are Rising is a special album, not just for the aforementioned reason, but specifically because Lott wrote and recorded the entire thing in one month -- just two months ago, to be exact. Yep. That's right. When you hear just one or two tracks, it's hard to believe that something so textured and fairly complex in construction could have been the product of just one month. And to top it all off, Lott had already begun work on a new Son Lux album but didn't use any of that material on what would become We Are Rising.

Lott's voice is smooth, gentle, and a perfect contrast to the electronic soundscape he sings over. With fragmented strings and synthesizers and layered percussion, "Rising" is a perfect example of Son Lux's unique brand of spellbinding electronic chamber pop (er, chamber electropop?). There's an almost otherworldly aura that captures the essence of standing in a forest, surrounded by a seemingly infinite sea of trees; it has that undeniably encompassing power.

Time: 41:28 min

07. White Lies (03:49)
08. Pretend (04:12)
09. Pretty Face (05:15)
10. Uh-Huh (05:03)

Release Note:

Home Sweet Home, Project Jenny, Project Jan's new album, marks the first foray into live instrumentation and male/female vocals on some songs. The album is a full art collective: all visuals and merch were inspired and created by the band themselves.

Brooklyn electronic indie rockers PROJECT JENNY, PROJECT JAN will self-release Home Sweet Home on April 5, 2011. For this second full-length, Sammy Rubin (music) and Jeremy Haines (lyrics) co-produced the album with Alan Wilkis, best known for his stunning remixes of Phoenix, RJD2, Phantogram and many more, who took his first turn behind the production decks for a full-length album on Home Sweet Home. The band also worked with mixer Britt Myers (Yeasayer, Chairlift), both of whom help provide a contrast in texture to their trademark electronics and snyths. The result is a refinement - bot for Haine's chameleon-like voice and storytelling ability and in Rubin's intricate and layered composition.

Each time PJPJ sets out to construct an album, their output is more than just music. Home Sweet Home is no different. Forgoing a traditional release, a download code of Home Sweet Home will be available to anyone that purchases PJPJ merch via the band's website and at live shows. Each composition, from liner notes to T-shirts to press photos and the visual elements that are part of every performance, is designed by them or by people they admire, as an interpretation of the music. "By nature we are artists and we create," explains Rubin. "We've taken control of every element we compose," says Haines.

Eschewing the use of wholly electronic elements, Home Sweet Home's teninstantly catch songs are PJPJ's most extensive foray into live instrumentation. Stand-out tracks include the energetic, andultra-danceable album opener "Tonight," the push-pull male/female vocals and staccato rhythm of "Girls in Cars," the vivid storytelling and intricate brass section featured in "Pretty Face," and the instantly addictive synth line in lead single "Nadine."

Artist: Los Amigos Invisibles
Title Of Album: Not So Commercial
Label: Nacional Records
Year Of Release: 2011
Genre: Disco / Funk
Format: MP3
Bitrate: CBR 320 kbps
Tracks: 8
Total Time: 24:34 min
Total Size: 56 MB

Tracklist:

1. G-String [03:08]
2. Youlikedat [00:59]
3. Corduroy [03:35]
4. Easy Going [01:00]
5. Dubi Dubi Dubi [01:01]
6. La Lluvia Sabe Que No Andas Sola [04:55]
7. Sweet [05:03]
8. Criticar [04:49]

Release Note:

This quick (less than 25 minutes) EP of outtakes and leftovers from this Venezuelan dance-funk act's Commercial album is terrific. A set of tight, ultra-danceable grooves, it occasionally displays greater ambition than they might reveal on a more "normal" album -- opening cut "G-String" sounds like an instrumental from Santana's weirdest period (1972-1975). Three of the eight tracks here -- "Youlikedat," "Easy Going," and the dubby "Dubi Dubi Dubi" -- are one-minute interstitials, but even those aren't really throwaways; they just set up a rhythm and ride it as far as it'll go before launching into the next song. "Corduroy" has a swinging '60s vibe with its organ and "ba-ba-ba" vocals reminiscent of Sergio Mendes' Brasil '66, but throws a stinging guitar solo into the mix; "La Lluvia Sabe Que No Andas Sola" is built around a gentle synth melody and a stuttering funk beat, with a loverman rap on top; "Sweet" is another smooth groove, this time with English-language lyrics; and the final track, "Criticar," starts out in the same vein as the previous two tracks, but gets decidedly psychedelic and weird in its final 90 seconds. In a way, this EP shows that Los Amigos Invisibles could easily be a more danceable Café Tacuba, if they wanted to.

7. Ground (04:02)
8. On Eastern Time (03:41)
9. Water Wheel Two (03:15)
10. Disappointment (03:29)

Release Note:

Feels like all the old favorites are circling the wagons in these early days of 2011.  The always prolific Julian Lynch isn't one to miss a wagon-party, so the forthcoming release of his new album Terra comes as no surprise.  The title track off the album is the sort of rambling mix of woodwinds, bongos, synths and good times I've come to expect from Julian Lynch.  The light brush of the drums and the haunting blasts of lips-pressed-to-reeds produces a sonic meadow in the midst of a lush, dangerous jungle.  Lions, tigers and bears are out there, fangs revealed, but Julian Lynch is relaxing on a gingham blanket, with a wicker basket full of sandwiches cushioned next to him. Terra comes out on Underwater Peoples this spring.

Audios / Hyetal - Broadcast (2011)

Artist: Hyetal
Title Of Album: Broadcast
Label: Black Acre
Year Of Release: 2011-05-24
Genre: Electronic / Bass / Dubstep
Bitrate: 320 Kbps
Tracks: 10
Time: 43:44 min
Size: 92,0 MB

02 Diamond Islands
03 Phoenix
04 Beach Scene
05 The Chase
06 Searchlight
07 Dime Piece
08 Boneyard
09 Transmission
10 Black Black Black

Release Note:

Bristol-based artist Hyetal will release his first album, Broadcast, through Black Acre on May 2nd.

The young producer has been releasing music since 2009, exhibiting an increasingly unorthodox take on dubstep with a set of influences often far removed from his peers in the genre. He's never had a definitive home, having released on labels like Soul Motive, Reduction, and Formant, and collaborating with Shortstuff and Peverelist on Punch Drunk. His most recent 12-inch, the synth-heavy "Phoenix," landed on the relatively young Orca label, and makes a reprise on Broadcast as the only previously-released track.

Preceding the album on April 11 will be a single for "Diamond Hearts" backed with a remix from Boddika. Both releases mark Hyetal's debut for Bristol's Black Acre label. The new single continues in the vein of "Phoenix," upping the pop ante with a vocal from Alison Garner. As for the album itself, a press release promises a blend of "John Carpenter, Boards of Canada, early '90s computer games and Prince with the sound system dynamics of cutting edge UK bass music."

Release Note:

Audiofly will release their debut album this May, entitled Follow My Liebe.

It might seem surprising that Luca Saporito and Anthony Middleton should just now release their first album. The pair have been a presence in European clubs for most of the last decade, and have long been familiar name to fans of melodic tech house. They've appeared on a range of different labels along the way, from Rekids to Connaisseur to Steve Lawler's VIVa MUSiC, but Follow My Liebe lands on their most consistent home: Berlin's Get Physical Music. According to a press release, the album's style runs the gamut from their more subtle work as Audiofly X to proper club tunes, with a notable emphasis on vocals, including an appearance from reggae vocalist Shaun Parkes, who also appeared on 2006's Inside the Beat. It will be available digitally and on CD.

11. Family 4:05
12. Alone On The Roof Top 2:48

Release Note:

Kissy Sell Out is well and truly back. The 12 blistering tracks of his
second album Wild Romance herald his triumphant return. From ballistic
straight out the box club annihilators, to peak time radio hits, it's a
coming of age for this master-producer.

Hes only 25, but Kissys packed an awful lot into his short career to
date. Whether hes DJing to a packed out crowd, mixing avant garde new
sounds on his weekly Radio One show, producing his own material or
remixing for others, the results are always the same: Exhilarating. In
the talent rich genre of electro, one name has always stood out as more
forward thinking than the rest. Colchester-native Kissy Sell Out first
exploded on to the scene with a series of technically ambitious remixes
in 2006. His rework of Mark Ronsons take on The Smiths Stop Me,
gained him particular kudos and was included in numerous compilations.
It was enough to bring him to the attention of radio bosses, who
offered the twenty-something design student a weekly slot on Radio One.

Wild Romance sees Kissys talents stretched in all directions, and
the results are really impressive. Hes got the balance of huge club
anthems like Wild In the Warehouse perfectly offset with the pop
sensibilities of Homesick which features the lyrical waxings of close
friend and comrade Oh Snap!. Two years after his debut album Youth,
Wild Romance, showcases what Kissy has learnt in the interim. It
retains the extroverted sound that he has become synonymous with, but
is overall more confident. Twelve tracks of vicious beats, heart
stopping breakdowns and fist-pumping drops. Kissy Sell Out has truly
hit his stride.

Over at Radio One, hes now over one hundred shows in, and he has used
it as an opportunity to showcase his own technical abilities,
presenting a new Kissy Klub mix each week, a section of the show made
entirely of his exclusive remixes made especially for the show. Along
with his fresh attitude to mixing records, his amiable persona
continues to draw thousands upon thousands of new listeners to his late
night slot week on week. Fans not only want to hear what at Kissy has
made, but also what he has found; he is a champion of new talent, and
regularly plays tracks sent to him by bedroom producers along with
tracks from more established artists and record labels.

Kissy studied Graphic Design at St. Martin's College of Art in London,
where he used flyers he had seen for clubs as his main source of
inspiration. Not long after graduating, he found himself in a recording
studio, working on debut album 'Youth'. He says: «I was swept off my
feet, straight out of art college, thinking Id be an artist or
designer and suddenly Im a buzzy, future of dance music character – it
was frightening mixing that album.»

Many were charmed by the debut album, earning Kissy a legion of devoted
fans. He toured with a live band, went to SXSW in Texas and all over
Europe and Australia. When the tour ended he went back to DJing, and
started to question if his dream job was the one for him. «It was a bit
of an epiphany for me,» he says. «I was stood there in front of two
decks, in front of thousands of people in a nightclub. I stood there
and thought, Is this all I do? Play a tune every three minutes? He
took this as an opportunity to put the performance aspect of being in a
band in to a DJ-set scenario, upping his game and the number of decks
to four. He has injected his live sets with a level of showmanship that
thrill audiences and gain him new fans every time. The crowd responds
well, and so do I, he says. Glastonbury 2010 saw him play a set to
10,000 people. He was astounded that so many people would choose to
watch him when the festivals line-up was so rich in talent. The next
day a further 4,000 people came to see his second set, a phenomena he
puts down to word of mouth spreading across the campsites.

When he returned to the studio to begin work on Wild Romance, there
was one aspect of his career that Kissy took inspiration from his
radio show. In fact, he is sure that had he never been given the
opportunity to be a weekly fixture national radio, this album would
sound very different. I weave in a lot of classical music and I think
had I not done the radio show I wouldnt have known how to weave that
in to a dance track. Im so used to that, so what I wanted to was
combine what I was doing already writing my own music, and playing
all my own instruments and composing it all and mix that with the
classical influence.

Kissy sums up, The album is full of breakdowns and basslines. Every
second drop is different. Its me all over, which is cool. I like the
idea of doing things that no one else is doing and being an innovator.

Release Note:

After 21 years on the scene, Manchester drum & bass artist Marcus Intalex is ready to release his debut album, fittingly entitled 21.

Intalex's contributions to drum & bass music have come in many forms, most of which involve colons: aside from his productions, there were his Soul:ution nights and radio shows, plus his two labels, Soul:R and Revolve:R, which gave an early break to artists like Calibre, Martyn and Instra:mental. Though firmly rooted in drum & bass, his sound owes just as much to techno and IDM, which makes him feel particularly at home in today's open-ended UK bass scene. "It's a 130-140 BPM tempo, and that's all it is: a tempo," he says. "It's an open script otherwise. It's brilliant." In fact, Intalex thinks his albums comes at a time that is, in some respects, especially healthy for drum & bass.

"To me, drum & bass is something that a lot of people have ridden on success-wise, and now people have to work a little bit harder because the spotlight is elsewhere. And they are doing exactly that. There seems to be a lot of innovative drum & bass music coming from a lot of different angles and different parts of the world. It's opened up a new appreciation for the subtlety in drum & bass: the deeper side has gotten more interesting than ever."

Much like his output over the years, 21 is both varied and coherent, with dubbed out drum & bass, atmospheric techno, a bit of acid and even a cover of Radiohead, Intalex's favorite band of all time. ("They are, musically, the best thing I've ever come across, far outreaching anything I've ever known.") Guest appearances come from fellow UK veteran Zed Bias, Lynx, S.P.Y. and NonPlus+ vocalist Riya among others. The album will be available as a triple-vinyl pack as well as digitally and on CD.

Release Note:

Jeroen Snik, AKA Icicle, will release his debut album this month on Shogun Audio.

The record is called Under the Ice, a title Snik calls "a statement on how this album lies underneath the dance floor music Icicle has been known for." The London-based artist says he felt strongly that his first full-length should offer something different from his 12-inches. "Being predominantly known for DJ-friendly drum & bass rollers, [Under the Ice] for me was the time to write music that's appealing, a little in the clubs still, but mostly for the iPod." The album makes a clear nod to Snik's classic house and techno influences, in part with vocal appearances from Chicago legend Robert Owens, who narrates the intro and sings on the track "Redemption." Other guest appearances come from SP:MC, Proxima and DRS.

Release Note:

Boxcutter's next album is called The Dissolve, and will come out this month on Planet Mu.

The album takes its name from the video effect that's often used to transition from one scene to another, which seems especially fitting in this case: Bary Lynn's productions have often wavered between dubstep and more open-ended, psychedelic electronic music, The Dissolve shows him moving more decisively into the second category. It's packed with hazy textures, hip-hop style beats, and even the occasional electric guitar, though tracks like "Allele" and "Moon Pupils" show he's still got a bit of of rave left in him. Guest appearances come from Ken & Ryu and past collaborators Brian Greene and Kab Driver.

7. 1996 [4:20]
8. Walking Disasters [4:17]
9. Girls/Fast Cars [3:35]
10. Schumacher The Champagne [4:50]

Release Note:

Just as comedy actors, no matter how massive their crowd-draw or how enjoyable their movies, stand a popsicle-in-Hell's chance of ever winning an Oscar, it's virtually unthinkable that the second album from Liverpool's The Wombats will grace the higher echelons of any end-of-year polls or the Mercury shortlist. They cross too many boxes – they're shamelessly radio-friendly and insanely melodic, they have a 'wacky' name and they're simply too popular/ist to garner much of a credible critical vote. On the contrary, that scraping sound you can hear is the widespread music media dragging their shovels towards This Modern Glitch intending to bury – largely unheard and with extreme prejudice – the leading exponents of what the trolls have deemed "landfill indie".

And what a travesty that burial would be. Because, for its genre – polished, uplifting, chart-bound electro indie-pop – This Modern Glitch is a flawless modern classic to file alongside Free All Angels by Ash, Franz Ferdinand's debut and Hard-Fi's Stars of CCTV. Leaning more heavily on synth blares and funk-disco beats than their guitar-orientated debut A Guide to Love, Loss and Desperation, it's like a blast of musical Optrex to the face of 2011. It revitalises the 80s electro-funk-pop revival on the stunning likes of Our Perfect Disease (hyperactive Hurts) and Walking Disasters (morose Marina). It invigorates Naked and Famous-esque synth-pop with jubilant harmonic whoops and trills on 1996 and Tokyo (Vampires and Wolves). And it re-imagines The Verve's Bittersweet Symphony as an anthem of defiance against personal (rather than social) tribulations on the string-swaddled ode to singer Murph's anti-depressant addiction, Anti-D.

And there's the kernel to The Wombats' popularity and (inevitable) longevity. Sure, they sporadically live up to their cartoonish persona by playing the ultimate Nuts readers on fuzz-punker Girls / Fast Cars, or detailing a druggy night in a Hoxton trendster club on single-of-the-decade contender Techno Fan, a song with a hook that'll punch through you like a jack-hammer. Yet there's dark, intriguing depths to Murph's warts-and-all personal exposes that keep the songs writhing like crawling creatures beneath the diamond dust. "Last night I dreamt I died alone!" he wails over the Glasvegas space pomp of Last Night I Dreamt; "We need some pop psychology to keep us upbeat," he advocates on Walking Disasters, where two lovers find consolation in mutual self-loathing. And when closer Schumacher the Champagne breaks into the album's all-out-metal crescendo, Murph bellows The Wombats' defining, defiant statement: "Take me as I am, or not at all!"

And take them you most certainly should. Those with their tongue fast to the perineum of the zeitgeist will balk at such brazen, unpretentious pleasures as you'll find here, and more fool them. The Wombats will never have the cult kudos of a Sufjan, the culture buzz of a Jessie J or the critical awe of an Arcade Fire or Radiohead. But for the flagrant pop thrill-seeker – judging by this incredible, irrepressible, ecstatic, brilliant record – neither will they ever disappoint. Don't believe the anti-hype: pop album of the year, by at least a dozen choruses.

Release Note:

This latest project by the Hamburg-based musician, composer,
and futurist, Felix Kubin, (his second release on Dekorder) is
a collaboration with the contemporary music chamber group,
ensemble Intщgrales, and the reknowned German underground pop
producer and sound engineer, Tobias Levin.

Echohaus was recorded in and around Levin's Electric Avenue
studio in the basement of WESTWERK, a former squat and
cultural centre for non-commercial art and music in Hamburg.
A special recording technique was developed for the project
whereby the musicians played simultaneously in separate rooms,
connected to one and other only by headphones. This was done
in order to achieve a lively,Уcinematic" sound that made use
of the particular dynamics of the rooms and amplified
mechanical details. The rooms, each of which had a different
acoustic character, were used as natural echo chambers. Kubin
and the composer Burkhard Friedrich, former member of ensemble
Intщgrales, provided the musicians with simple graphic scores
or basic descriptions of the compositions; all subsequent
material was developed on the fly. Kubin was in the mixing
room giving instructions and suggestions, while the musicians
played and improvised, adding their own ideas to the project.

No artificial reverb or effects were added to the recordings.
The different types of rooms and microphones, noises inside
and outside of the studio, as well as the unusual
interrelationship between the physically isolated players
became part of the process. All the tracks were recorded in
one take without any additional layers or track-by-track
recordings. After a five-day recording session Kubin and Levin
created various mixes which Kubin then edited over a period of
several months.

The final results mark yet another radical departure from
Kubin's trademark Sci-Fi Pop sound, blending the aesthetics of
academic contemporary music, film soundtracks and improvised
music with a strong focus on room-specific natural acoustics.

Release Note:

These two well-known projects on the industrial-oriented electronica scene, FLINT GLASS and POLARLICHT 4.1/TRANSISTOR join forces for this ten-track collaboration concept album inspired by the famous novel "La Nuit des Temps by the French author Ren Barjavel, revealing a balancing act between industrial noise, experimental music and cinematic dark electronica evoking imaginary places and arctic icy atmospheres. "Zoran's Equation" is based mostly on track sources from POLARLICHT 4.1's hypnotizing soundscapes supplemented by FLINT GLASS's rhythm constructions, dark atmospheres and background noises, arising to a rarely-heard combination.

Two artistic minds fused into one, creating a movie with sonic turbulence and heavy surging movement heaves restlessly, reminiscent in places of the sound of one's own muffled breathing heard under ice - the sound of an uneasy sleeping landscape as dense waves of sound reverberate in rhythmic complexity. A concept album for anyone who has a liking for dark ambient music, experimental electronica, noisy sounds and especially for those listeners who appreciate both projects' solo efforts.

Daft_Punk_021233_.jpg

Before we proceed we should all take a moment to pump our brakes and tread carefully as we're about to enter the rumour zone. Oooooooh. As with most things Daft Punk related, this bit of gossip should be taken warily as it's far from official. But nonetheless the word is out that the French robot crew is putting together their next LP and apparently they're recruiting some guest players to the recording process.

The news comes from French site LesInRocks which reports that the masterminds behind Daft Punk, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, have begun recording their fourth album, with Animal Collective mainstay Panda Bear contributing in an unknown capacity, as are an unspecified collective of production staff behind Michael Jackson's Thriller opus.

"The duo is already in Paris for a fourth studio album, on which musicians in the flesh bone and replace the machines," reads the piece – thanks Google Translate. "And not just any musicians, since they whisper the names of the top names in action behind Michael Jackson's Thriller or Panda Bear , lead singer of NYC Animal Collective. Other musicians are expected to join this strange crew."

Before you can go all Admiral Ackbar on us and tell us this is a trap, we agree that this does indeed smell a bit fishy but given that the hearts of ITMers tend to skip a beat at the mention of Daft Punk we thought we'd at least address the rumour.

While we can hardly believe some undisclosed 'whispers' on some random French site, there's a glimmer of promise in this as Daft Punk had said that during the making of their Tron Legacy score they had been "working on some of [their] own music concurrently". What's more in that same interview the duo expressed their desire to explore new territory on their next release, making collaborations at least in the realm of possibility.

"We like the idea of trying to experiment and do different things we haven't done in the past," Bangalter said. "I imagine [selling out] would be finding a successful formula and sticking with it and always doing the same thing. That is not what is exciting to us."

Release Note:

The Aston Shuffle's ascent to the top of the Australian dance music totem has been nothing short of startling. Only three years ago the duo of Vance Musgrove and Mikah Freeman were the sole toast of the Australian capital, before their unmistakable blend of big dance floor vibes and aurally striking hooks landed them on the radar of eager listeners and tastemakers alike. 2011 sees the release of their anticipated debut album, Seventeen Past Midnight, which looks to cement them as the next wave of Australia's emerging electronic scene if the reaction to the initial singles is anything to go by.

The first single from Seventeen Past Midnight, 'Your Love', fused the group's love of razor-edged electro breakdowns with an enslaving vocoder refrain. It caused sparks across national airwaves and brought many a blog to the limits of its bandwidth. The anthemic sequel 'Start Again' promises to continue powering the Shuffle juggernaut into the stratosphere of stereo. Kicking genres to the kerb, it's sort of nu-electroclash with a straight up edge, a femme-fatale vox that oozes bliss and a kick so tight that you can feel it in your back teeth. Accompanied by one of the strongest remix packs to see the light of day, the herculean single is set to be a hit of the future. The Aston Shuffle's meteoric rise to this point in space and time has merely been a courting of aural foreplay, a tease of talents, which this duo possesses.
