Chris and Steve Martinez are two of the youngest people in house music, but they've already scored one genuine club hit ('My Rendition'), wowed crowds at the Winter Music Conference and earned rave reviews for their energetic DJ sets as far afield as France. Some might call them a gimmick, the Hanson of house, but these cynics would be dead wrong: there is plenty of substance and talent to back up the novelty value of TMB.

And they are coming to rock the floor only @Mansion Club Bandung

Karizma biog

He's one of the most in-demand DJs on the worldwide house circuit, his productions are a must-check for any self-respecting house lover, and his remix talents are sought out by some of the biggest names in the music business. Truly Karizma is a man at the very peak of his game.
But then he's been doing this for a while.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1970, Chris Clayton became fascinated by music from an early age. "My grandma used to go to flea markets and come back with all these records, and I was just OBSESSED with them!" he recalls, laughing. "This was when I was about five years old. I'd sit listening to all these records for hours on end, and while I was listening I'd be studying the liner notes and the sleeves. By the time I was seven, you could pick up any record in our house and I could tell you who played on it, who produced it and using what equipment!" It was only natural that a desire to get involved with music would follow, and young Chris spent his teens learning to DJ – at that time playing hip-hop and the nascent 'Baltimore club music', a sub-genre that's today similar in style to Detroit ghetto tech/Miami bass but which in its early days drew much inspiration from the go-go music coming out of nearby Philadelphia – and playing in a succession of bands. By the age of 19, he was playing with his first "proper" band, a Baltimore club music outfit called Unruly. This would eventually evolve into Unruly Records, set up in the mid–90s by Karizma and partners Shawn Caesar and Scottie B (the label incidentally is still going today, though Karizma is no longer involved, and is most notable for launching the career of Spank Rock). But the real turning point for Karizma came in 1995 when he met up, through the Baltimore club scene, with another local DJ, DJ Spen. Their paths began to cross more and more, both at leading local nightspot Club Paradox where Spen was resident, and at the radio station V103 where both Karizma and Spen had regular slots. Spen was already working alongside the leading lights of the Baltimore house scene, Basement Boys, and encouraged by this legendary trio, the two started working on a few tracks together, Karizma for instance providing the drum programming on Spen's remix of Jasper Street Company's 'Tempation (Lead Us Not)' for the Basement Boys label. We have Mary J Blige to thank for the formation of Spen & Karizma as one of the leading lights of the late '90s house scene, however. The pair were working on a remix of her 'Beautiful'. "And I turned to Spen," Karizma recollects, "and I said, you know what, we should just do this, we should take over the world, man!".
There followed a string of Spen & Karizma releases on Basement Boys and other respected house labels, as well as remix work for some of the biggest names in the business, including such luminaries as Alicia Keys, Everything But The Girl and even Michael Jackson. The pair also worked with some of the most respected names in the house music industry, including the likes of Su Su Bobien, Bob Sinclar and fellow Baltimore native Ron Carroll. Their skills behind the decks were also in constant demand worldwide.
But times change and things move on. "I had many good years with Spen and with Basement Boys," says Karizma philosophically. "It was always a good relationship, we were separate but equal. But as in any relationship, you either grow together or you grow apart. I wanted to do my own thing. But me and Spen are cool, I mean you know, we still speak and everything." Throughout the Spen & Karizma era, both producers had continued to work on their own individual productions and remixes. Karizma's first solo release was 'The Power EP' on the UK's Black Vinyl in 1999 and a number of other solo productions followed, including the 'Shades Of K' EP on Basement Boys in 2000. But eventually the time came to leave the Basement Boys stable altogether, as Karizma did in the early years of the new millennium.
Since then, he's turned out a series of productions and remixes for some of the world's most respected house labels. His own productions include the acclaimed 'Ride EP' for Defected in 2004, '4 The Love' for Spen's Code Red imprint in 2005 (a record which, with its "for the love of house/for the love of beats" vocal refrain, perhaps sums up Karizma's musical philosophy as well as anyone could) and, last year, 'The Kaytonic EP' for UK label Hustle Music. Notable remixes, meanwhile, include his rubs of DJ Technic's club anthem 'Gabryelle' for Defected in 2005, and of Liquid People's 'Son Of Dragon' on Soul Heaven in 2006.
2007 has seen Karizma's career move up to the next level, with the release of his debut artist album, 'A Mind Of Its Own', on R2 Records. Current projects include a remix album of the aforesaid long-player and a remix of Urban Soul's classic 'It's Alright' as part of Juno's 10th Anniversary re-release series. In the meantime, Karizma continues to travel the world as a highly sought-after DJ, and has this year signed to the Connected Talent agency, as a result of which he recently undertook a Japanese tour. As we said, Karizma's a man at the peak of his game. Oh, and in case you were wondering about that name... "It's basically a corruption of Chris," he chuckles, "I needed a name that was closer to my own, because back when I started out, I was also doing hip-hop, and I was using the name Justin Human. And that name was WACK!"

FRIDAY 25TH APRIL 2008

A LITTLE SOMETHINGS ABOUT ASPARAGUS
Born Haris Badic with roots in former Yugoslavia, he began his musical journey as a teen, DJ'ing at local hip-hop parties. During high school he got introduced to house music and drum'n'bass at some of the smaller clubs in Stockholm where he met some of the local DJ's, soon to be giving him a strong push from the ponds to the sea of bigger fish at Klubb Rekyl, which is one of the largest drum'n'bass clubs in Scandinavia today.

But his musical state of mind wasn't even close to completion until late 1999 when he visited the Raw Fusion Club for the first time and saw legendary Mad Mats teamed up with Jazzanova at the hot venue, Mosebacke Etablissment. Hearing them blend everything from hip-hop, funk and Latin grooves to house, nu jazz and drum'n'bass set him and his two colleagues, Ron Cohen and Boj Lucki (MIR Crew, Klubb Rekyl), out to form their own club music radio show, Kalabalik.

Full of energy and will, Asparagus later at the young age of 21 got seriously introduced to the music business when he packed his bag and made his move to London where he started working for the UK hip-hop label Jazz Fudge Recordings (at the time owned by world famous DJ Vadim), promoting artists like the hyped beat boxer Killa Kela and rapper Blu Rum 13, and also running monthly parties in Brixton with guest DJ's such as Strictly Kev (DJ Food) and Attica Blues.

After a year of travelling and soul searching, Haris teamed up with now close friend Mad Mats to keep running the legendary and close to 12-year-old Raw Fusion Club, in Stockholm and also work with some of the hottest acts on Raw Fusion Recordings. At the same period in time Haris also joined forces with business partner and world renowned Swedish house producer, DJ and musician Rasmus Faber at his Farplane Records to bring forth new releases of sizzling house music.

With his predilection for black dance music, he has over the past years skilled himself both technically and musically. Mashing up and re-editing tracks for the dance floors has taken him to a higher level and made him into the great DJ he is today.

BIOGRAPHY

No need to glean the One's To Watch in 2006S Just keep eye's and ears fixed
firmly on the style and sounds of France's newest and most creative soul -
the aptly named MissillS one urban punk!!!

Embracing the finest in underground rhythm straddling, Hip Hop, Breaks,
Electro, Grime, Dancehall and Ragga - all find there way into the Missill
make-up. Coming live to the UK early 2006 will be the real deal; front row
seats highly recommended. Until then, a selection of what gets this feisty
spirit going, open the box and flip the switch.

Mash Up, is the first DJ compilation from Missill, due for release March 6th
2006. It features the very best of the sounds in her record bag with the CD
version packing some unreleased tracks on it. The album follows on from
where DJ Yoda and 2 Many DJs left off, and it's a real breath of fresh air
after all those stale mixes from wanabee bootleggers. Missill makes full use
of the skills she has mastered on this (re)creative mix. The open minded
sound of 'little miss magic fingers' making no concessions for anyone.

For those about to find out what this is all about, a little background
perhaps? Missill is just 25. She's a DJ, graphic designer, graffiti artist
and no holds barred sonic terrorist. This self made woman, who answers to
no-one but herself, has left her hometown in the South West of France and is
now ready to take on the world.

In 1999 she was already honing her talent behind the decks as a resident for
the BMC "Rumble in the Jungle" nights (at Le Batofar and Le Glazart in Paris
as well as L'Astrolabe in Orleans). When she DJs live, she beats the living
daylights out of all the sounds that really get her going - ragga, hip hop,
break beat and electro. At night, she has been known to break loose around
the streets of Paris, adding a touch of life to the decaying walls of the
city with her aerosol cans and stencils.

Her unique talent as a graphic designer shines through on the flyers she has
created for numerous "rumble" sessions, but also for venues such as La
Maroquinerie, Le Rex, Le Glazart, Le Batofar and L'Astrolabe. She has also
designed record sleeves (for Laurent de Wilde, Llorca and the Uwe label) as
well as logos and web sites. She designed the poster and visuals for the
Transmusicales De Rennes festival. There have been numerous exhibitions of
her graffiti and painting.

Missill is here to destroy all those readymade ideas you might have about
DJing. At the end of 2003, she played a set on the hip hop stage at the
Transmusicales de Rennes festival and has played at a great number of events
since - gigs, club nights and festivals where she has really made her mark
thanks to her innovative and dynamic style. The sounds she uses are fresh,
the mixes are original and beware, her boundless energy is contagious ! Her
sets cover a wide range of styles which means that she's played at a lot of
different clubs (electro, hip hop, break beat, dub, funk, ragga and more
besides). She's also an instinctive mover and this can really make the crowd
go wild. She's played alongside the likes of Coldcut, Gang Of Four, Horace
Andy, Vitalic, Laurent Garnier, Carl Craig, Jimmy Cliff, Alain Bashung,
Sinclair, Orishas, La Rumeur, RZA(Wu-Tang Clan), Adam F and many others...
The media have also picked up on the Missill phenomenon - she's guested on
radio Nova shows, is regularly featured on "Cult" (a TV program on the
France 5 channel), has provided live mixes for Generations FM as well as
Radio Nova, Oui FM, Radio FG, she regularly has articles and pictures in DJ
Mag, Trax, Technikart magazines, and finallly, she's appeared on Canal Plus'
"Zapping" program and has featured on television shows around Europe and
across the world from China to Mexico.
