Sudah banyak film yang mendokumentasikan EDM dan Rave culture, tapi belum ada yang pernah bisa mencoba untuk menceritakan awal mula scene ini. Sebuah project film independen yang diprakarsai oleh Martin O'Brien & DJ Jenö berusaha untuk mendokumentasikan Rave scene di San Franscisco era 90-an, dimana saat itu SF menjadi epicentrum perkembangan komunitas Rave di Amerika.

Film ini akan berisi interview dengan sejumlah elemen yang ikut terlibat dalam scene ini antara lain DJ, produser musik, promotor party, artis visual, pemilik record shop dan tentunya orang orang yang berpartisipasi dalam party party underground saat itu.

Proyek ini dimulai pada desember 2010. Untuk tujuan itu mereka membuat sebuah halaman project di Kickstart.com guna mencari dana untuk pembuatan film ini yang jumlahnya adalah $20.000. Dana ini diperoleh dari relawan yang ingin menyumbang. Mereka udah dapetin dana untuk melaksanakan proyek ini dari 327 sumbangan hanya dalam waktu 21 hari.

Filmnya sendiri rencananya akan diputar secara terbatas pada awal tahun 2012.

If you were around San Francisco in the 90′s, it was impossible to escape the colorful, joyous parties of the exploding rave scene. The influence these massive parties had was world wide, still reverberates today and for many was a life changing experience. Now the creative crew at MoFilms.org are working on a full length documentary, focusing on the people that experienced those events firsthand and had their lives shaped by the hopeful, yet often misunderstood movement.

This is one of the first films to be made by the very people who where there on the dance floor. We went to the MoFilms studio to meet up with our friend Martin O'brien, executive directer, producer and "excitement manager" to get his take on the time. During the rise of the scene he was instrumental in promoting many of the parties, and in the process he was inspired and changed.

Fall in love with electronic music since his very young age and influenced by Electronical Band such as KMFDM, Telefon Tel Aviv, Autechre, Boards of Canada, Dextro and many more.

Witnessed lots of big parties made him falls deeper and deeper into the scene of electronic dance music. He started his career in DJing for not too long ago, well known as one of the Techno Militians in Jakarta's electronic dance music scene. Moreover, he also being managed well to be able to spins in Jakarta's big parties as well as its surrounding areas. He had chances to share the same deck with some international DJ's such as David Dunne (Hed Kandi), Andy Warburton, Paul Rogers, Tom Novy, DJUMA SOUNDSYSTEM, Hideo Kobayashi, Satoshi Fumi, Andre Hommen, Yousef, Dennis Ferrer, Maya Jane Coles and also finest Indonesian DJ's.

In 2008 He joined DAFKAF Inc. well known as the first line Label in Jakarta dance scene with big names like Remy Irwan, Suresh Nelson, 1man and other members. Choosing Techno as his way of life, now he's more than ready to blast Indonesian Electronic Dance Music scene with his beliefs & idealism.

UCHIEL :

Andree Uchiel's love affair with dance music started in the early 2000s. With fellow dance music enthusiast (which later became tutor and best friend), Ferry Sarmanella a.k.a DJ Debon, Uchiel started collecting dance music mix CDs, with early influences ranging from Digweed, Sasha, Danny Howells, Danny Tenaglia, Steve Lawler etc.

Two years later, by late 2002, Uchiel decided to buy his first set of turntables and with the help of DJ Blanco and DJ Debon studied the art of DJing. His earlier influences naturally lead him to choose house/progressive house as his first musical endeavor as a DJ.

However, his passion for dance music encouraged him to explore dance music further and search for fresher underground sounds, and by the end of 2003, he tried to push Trance into the mainstream Indonesian dance scene. Always one to push musical taste to its limits, his determination did not go unnoticed, as he was nominated as Paranoia's Rookie of the year the following year.

By 2005, his unrelenting passion for dance music became his sole reason to study sound engineering at SAE Institute Sydney. This excellent studying opportunity was also an excellent ground to expand his musical horizon. During his studies there he was exposed to the deep and quirky sounds of minimal house/techno, which soon rocked his thirst for underground dance music. And by the time he came back o Jakarta in 2007, Uchiel was already pushing a new sound, however bizarre it was to the local ears.

Andree Uchiel is a DJ that puts musicality and taste to the forefront of his sets. His sets are not your routine by the hour DJ set. Exploration and journey are his trademark originality, new and fresh sounds are always his first choice. Earning him the place as "REDMA Techno DJ of the year" nominee, for two years in a row.
He has had the honor to share decks with quite of a handful of DJs from diverse genres of dance music. Christoper Lawrence, Stacey Pullen, Terrence Chong, DJ Gabriel, Naro, Romy, Anton, Ai, Remy Irwan, 1man and many more. This shows that he is a DJ with a deep passion and respect to all kinds of Electronic Dance Music. As his hero Sasha said : "I can go to all style of music", to Andree Uchiel there's only two kinds of dance music – quality or junk.

Nowadays, Andree Uchiel is pushing the techy underground sounds, paired with classy house grooves. He is also one third of electrosoul's live act, known as Soulmanellas, which was only recently nominated as Ravelex Dance Music Award's Best Duo/Live Act.

With all these talents and upcoming musical productions; He is clearly a DJ you must check-out and tune in to!!!

ALVIN K (Microchip) :

Alvin K, a pioneer of techno scene in Indonesia and founder of Microchip, started his career in Australia in the late 90s.
Influenced by DJs like Plastikman, Danny Howells, Michael Mayer & James Holden, with a range of music starting from Deep House, Detroit Techno, Minimal Sound of Berlin to Acid House, his unique and varied choices of sound always gives off an epic feel.

His arrival in Indonesia in the year 2006 has proven to give new color to the local music scene. Join with DAFKAF can't stop his ego in the whole scene and his love for the music brought him to create the label Microchip, that then produced a regular event called GLIMPSE, the first underground techno event in Indonesia.

He has shared decks and warmed up some of the big names in the industry like Richie Hawtin, Deetron, Tiefschwarz, Ewan Pearson, Spirit Catcher, Djuma Soundsystem, Yousef. He's spun at numbers of underground warehouse rave party and huge festivals, to name a few, Adventjah Summer Festival (Brisbane, Australia), Re Animator (Brisbane, Australia), Godskitchen (Australia, Indonesia), Dance Republic (Indonesia), Soundz Therapy (Indonesia).

Alvin's commitment in music and his effort in extending the techno scene in Indonesia have been made recognized by the local electronic music industry. He was nominated as "Indonesia Best Techno DJ" at the Ravelex Electronic Dance
Music Awards in 2009.

Alvin will continue to expand his insight in music by means of production, spots in Jakarta's major events and festivals, and international promotion with intentions of displaying the commitment he has in providing true quality
underground electronic music to the masses.

I will try to keep the vulgarity to a minimum on this one. Remember not long ago when there was a bit of a scuffle with Paris and a certain house DJ because he wouldn't play a hip-hop song? Remember all those top-40/hip-hop clubs she was frequenting (even when she wasn't being paid to be there)? Remember how she has never once mentioned or was seen at any house related event until recent press surrounding her new publicity ploy boyfriend Afrojack? Now all of a sudden house music has always been a passion of hers? What does Paris Hilton and a cow's colon have in common?

This is the epitome of jumping on the decks for the money and the fame bandwagon. Everything she has done to date has been because she saw it as popular and a way to be famous for the sake of being famous. Do we really expect to believe that passion and art will play any part in this catastrophe in the making? At least I have a new term to call people who aren't DJing for passion and art.
