Though he would prefer you to simply listen to his music instead of reading this, Nicolas Jaar would admit he was born in NY; but quickly relocated to Santiago de Chile in the 90s only to come back to his birth place as a teenager. Haunted by Mulatu Astatke, Erik Satie, Ezekiel Honig and Villalobos' "Thé au Harem d'Archimède"; Nico started to make organic electronic music in 2004 at the age of 14. At 17, he debuted with "The Student EP" on Wolf and Lamb Music with remixes by Seth Troxler and Kasper. At 18, he continued producing and played live at Club Der Visionaire andArena in Berlin, at the Marcy in Brooklyn and at Mutek in Mexico City alongside Deadbeat,Flying Lotus and Guillaume Coutu-Dumont among others.Now at 19, studying at Brown University in Rhode Island, Nico has many releases coming up including some on Circus Company, Wolf + Lamb (with remixes by Ryan Crosson) and on his own label, Clown and Sunset of which he is the owner and founder.

James Blake is a British electronic composer from London, England. James began his final year at Goldsmiths in September 2009 studying popular music while recording songs in his bedroom.

James began by releasing his debut 12" "Air and Lack Thereof" on Hemlock Audio in July 2009. It was a firm favourite with Gilles Peterson from BBC Radio 1. James was invited to do a special mix on Gilles Peterson's worldwide show which included an exclusive Mount Kimbie track..

CMYK was released on R&S Records in 2010 and Nick Grimshaw chose it as his Record of the Week. It was also played by various BBC Radio 1 DJs . On 29 September 2010, Zane Lowe made Blake's cover of "Limit To Your Love" by Feist his "Hottest Record in the World".

On 6 December 2010, the BBC announced that Blake had been nominated for the BBC's Sound of 2011 poll.

On 15 December 2010 Blake made the runner up behind Jessie J at the Critics' Choice for the Brit Awards 2011.

He will release his self-titled debut album on the 7th of February through R&S Records.

The whole album is just fantastic, with various ambiances. Certainly one of the best album of the year, an ode to the electronic music. It has been a long time I never heard such a good music. "Kompilation" has been released on 17 December as CD version and shall be released on January 10th, 2011 digitally.

1. Technics were built to last – production of new ones may have ceased, but plenty of working units remain (even if they sit unloved with a laptop balanced on top of them). These workhorses ain't going anywhere and as with other classic hardware before them like Roland TB-303s, their second hand value and desirability is only set to increase.

2. DJs still need a performance tool with visual impact – in this digital age, the underwhelming nature of 100% laptop DJ sets remains an largely unsolved problem. Expect retro-fitted Technics to be a mainstay of more creative digital DJ performances for many years.

3. Vinyl purists won't give them up – their number may have dwindled, but there are still the Sven Vaeth's of this world who define themselves by their undying dedication to the wheels of steel.

4. Totally iconic imagery – the Technics will always be the standard design representing all pro turntables, as seen everywhere from hip hop graffiti pieces to album covers and old club flyers, or even the ridiculous gold editions they awarded to DMC champions. These original decks symbolise the art of cutting, mixing and scratching like nothing else.

5. A lasting legacy – rather like Penicillin, the advantages of the 1200/1210s were stumbled upon by experimentation rather than any grand design. With the repurposing of the pitch fader (originally intended for karaoke) for beatmatching and the handily tactile big platter and direct drive for physically moving the music back or forwards, they hit upon the ideal DJ interface that has yet to be bettered. The spirit of Technics will live on forever in every device from the Pioneer CDJs to the DJ hero game... and whatever comes next.
