In 2002, Thomas Koch aka DJ T., along with his friends – DJ and production team Patrick Bodmer and Philipp Jung (M.A.N.D.Y.), and producers and studio owners Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier (Booka Shade) – started their own label, Get Physical Music. Celebrating its 8th year in 2010, Get Physical is a cornerstone of the international electronic music community, and DJ T. is indelibly linked to its story; both behind the scenes and as an artist in his own right. The Best of DJ T. – Part 1 is a retrospective of the latter, and the first collection of some of these defining moments, taking in the classics, highlights, undiscovered b-sides and sound developments of DJ T.'s accomplished career.

Alongside his achievements outside of the studio, DJ T. has consistently sought to create dance music with an authentic groove at its heart. Celebrity producer Paul Kalkbrenner will release a documentary of his 2010 European tour in early December, simply entitled Paul Kalkbrenner 2010: A Live Documentary.
For years, Kalkbrenner was a common fixture of Berlin's club world, putting out records on BPitch Control and playing gigs around Europe. But his fame skyrocketed in 2008 with the release of Berlin Calling, a feature film in which he played the leading role of DJ Ickarus. He also produced the film's soundtrack, which included some of Kalkbrenner's biggest tracks to date, most notably a collaboration with his brother Fritz called "Sky and Sand." The album sold more than 140,000 units worldwide, and led to a European tour that drew tens of thousands of punters.
A Live Documentary is divided into two parts. The first follows Kalkbrenner across 15 dates of his 2010 summer tour, while the second features an hour of interviews and "intimate moments" backstage and on the road. It was filmed and directed by Max Penzel with additional video art provided by Pfadfinderei, a German visual design group that's done work for numerous Berlin clubs, events and artists in the past, including sleeve designs for BPitch Control.

The london sessions is a unique 'john peel session style' 9 trk encapsulation of one of today's most acclaimed acts in perhaps their rawest and most original recordings to date.

The session itself was recorded in one day at the pool/miloco studios in south london on june 29th 2010, in the week following this year's triumphant glastonbury performance. it was locked in order to record tracks for dissemination across the globe through the medium of contemporary rock radio; fans of lcd soundsystem will know that radio sessions are something that have never been a staple of the band's career thus far because of the belief in the necessity to maintain the highest quality of all sonic recordings released into the ether.

The set which spans the breadth of their career to date, perfectly captures the intuitive live evolvement of lcd as a band. here nothing is replicated with computers, everything instead is recreated in real time, tougher, looser and less clinically. it features tracks from all of their studio albums to date, as well as long lost b-side classic 'yr city's a sucker' and is a must for any fan of the band. the tracks were subsequently mixed by james murphy in nyc at dfa's plantain studio & mastered by his longtime cohort bob weston in chicago.

Get Physicals 8th annual Anniversary Compilation represents the Berlin labels dancefloor legacy and its bright future with 19 tracks, 7 of which are previously unreleased, from familiar names, old friends and fresh talent. With longtime DJ, producer and labelmate Thomas Schumacher at the helm, the compilation is guided by his expert hand through seamless mixes and astute selections.

Get Physical was born of friendship and a shared love of music, so its only fitting that the opener, Buddies, is a tribute to both. M.A.N.D.Y.s Philipp Jung and Matthew Dear lit up 2010 in New York City, with their Buddies club night and as M.A.N.D.E.A.R. – by crafting the hyped unreleased number Buddies that fused deep hypnotism with swirling hints of cosmic disco. Thomas segues this perfectly into the filtered loops and precipitous drops of Lee Curtiss The Disco Dub, and the early Chicago house stylings of Deletes Kindisch release Lunchbox.

Andy Catos Bassline Track is a shot in the arm and a raise of the stakes, as the Groove Armada gentle giant shrugs off the shackles of calm, chilled grooves for mutated bass lanes and a full frontal sonic kick, which lays the spiky groundwork for the tweaked and reverbed proto-electro of Detroit upstart Kris Wadsworth with Its Time.

Schumachers own loopy cut-up jam You Got Me slips sideways into Make Me, where Emerson Todd and Tim Green reveal a secret breakdown of free jazz, before its heavy drums descend into the deep tribal stomp of Steed Lords You. Thomas melodic electro house edit of his own Elektrochemie project blooms in rich, full colour, before the metallic tones of Booka Shades In Space Remix of their own Teenage Spaceman reveals the very best that their full-length masterpiece More! has to offer.

Shifting effortlessly from DJ to selector, Thomas then proceeds to cherry pick the best Get Physical moments for the morning after the night before. An emotional piano chord introduces Nôze in quirk balladeer mode, with a pop version of Kitchen, before the heartfelt, slowed-down electronic pop of Damian Lazarus After Rave Delight. Raz Ohara and the Odd Orchestra deliver stripped back soul that slowly builds into static and lush orchestration, while a meeting of mind sees DJ T.s Gorilla Hug remixed by wunderkind Nicolas Jaar, for a treatment that gives a nod to vintage electro-funk grooves. Nôze make another cameo appearance with a rework from Matthias Kaden, which progresses from beat-boxed acapellas to Kadens trademark minimalistic latin house, while Lopazz affecting 2007 synth-laden track Wasted Days both proves yet again why hes a treasured member of the GP family, and closes out the mix.

Patience is a virtue, however, as Revolution – the exclusive hidden track from M.A.N.D.Y. (a cooperation with Brooklyn´s hottest talent Adultnapper, just produced in New York this year) that constructs slow-burning deep tech house around a lone reverbed guitar – brings the compilation and the story of GP full circle to back to its start: friendship, body music and special dancefloor moments.
