PS: Since no reviews are currently available on this product, we decided to review this product on your own.


Firstly, it comes in quite a slim and small box, giving us the impression this product was going to disappoint in some way. Unboxing the Alctron LS001, brings you the stand as well as the shelf wrapped in paper. No manuals nor frills. Just the stand, shelf and two screws (to mount the shelf).

On first look, the Alctron LS001 looks similar to the Stanton Uberstand, it looked amazing, didn't look like anything cheap at all (unlike the Crane Stand Standard, which we got earlier this year). The material feels solid and rugged, and definitely looks like it can take a beating. Only difference between the Uberstand and the Alctron is that the Uberstand has one rod holding it up, the Alctron has two.

So, the stand unfolds easily, just need to tighten up two screws for the bottom - so that the stand won't fall back when in use. Setting up the stand took us only 35 seconds, and 32 seconds on our second attempt.

The height is just perfect in our opinion. It holds up a 17-inch Macbook with no issues. The only factor that we knew was going to be an issue - like the Stanton Uberstand, is the fact that when we press down on the laptop while on the stand, it wobbles slightly, but that only occurs when the laptop is pressed down, when typing or when mashing buttons like crazy on it, it stays perfectly stable.

The stand is very light, at 2.2kgs w/ the shelf. Without the shelf it feels much lighter. The shelf itself weighs easily around 700grams. The shelf can be positioned on 3 different heights on the stand. The shelf like the Uberstand also features big holes, which are meant to organize cables from your soundcard. The shelf also seems much broader than the Uberstand's, which is great - we just feel more secured that our soundcard isn't going to fall off.

Like the Uberstand, it's downfall is that it's in-adjustable, and it occupies quite some space. But that's a sacrifice paid for the quick setup time, and light weight.

After inspecting and testing the stand, it became apparent to us why it was priced so low - there were light scratches on the bottom, small dings on the shelf, and slight imperfections. Apparently Alctron didn't invest in Quality Control as much. The imperfections are minor, and did not bother us at all - over time any laptop stand will be subject to dings and scrapes, so it's still a great bargain for a laptop stand of this quality.

So, on overall the Alctron is a no-brainer for the price. It's durable, rugged, light-weight, quick-to-assemble, and it does it's job well. We are really happy with it, and are ecstatic about having it in our product line. We have it in Silver and Black. PS. Both colors look great.

The VMS4's adaptability extends to software too. The unit comes bundled with popular Virtual DJ LE software, so DJs can get up and running right out of the box. But for those who prefer to use other DJ software programs -- not to worry, the versatile VMS4 platform can accommodate those too. The VMS4 is not only versatile -- it's affordable. Although packed with features, it comes at a very affordable price-tag (MSRP $699.95). This is an incredible value for a 4-channel unit that comes with Virtual DJ LE software included, along with 2 jog wheels, a built-in mousepad that allows DJs to make all of their selections right from the top of the unit, and 2 microphone channels with gain/treble/mid/bass EQs. Each of the mixer's four channels is fortified with gain, treble, mid and bass controls. All of the audio control faders, knobs, switches, and buttons are smoothed, meaning no popping, wiper noise, or zipper noise. The VMS4's versatility also becomes handy when a computer crashes, Freret added. DJs don't have to stop the music when their computer fails them. The VMS4 kicks into an analog mode, where CD players or turntables may be used, or a DJ can use an external power supply.

In addition to its performance versatility, the VMS4 also offers versatility in its appearance. DJs can personalize the look of their unit, thanks to the availability of customized skins, which can be ordered via the website www.styleflip.com.

Among the VMS4's other MIDI features are: 50 LED illuminated buttons (including 18 with dual blue/red LEDs), 34 assignable rotary controllers, 5 assignable linear fader controllers, 4 assignable rotary encoders, long-life MIDI-assignable touch strips, two 10-bit resolution pitch sliders, 62 assignable MIDI buttons and switches, dual MIDI controls on all buttons and switches, and dual 2000 point resolution touch-sensitive turntable search controllers.

In addition to its many MIDI features, the VMS4 delivers some sweet-sounding audio options. Those include the ability to use it with sound cards; 24-bit 48 kHz of analog audio; 16-bit 44.1 kHz USB audio; 10-bit resolution on all analog fader controls; and selectable USB modes; 4 in 4 out mode for running software effects on phono/line analog channels, or 2 in 8 out mode for running 4 software channels and master recording. The DDJ-ERGO gives any music enthusiast the ability to make their own unique music mixes. Bundled with the Virtual DJ Limited Edition software by Atomix Productions, the DDJ-ERGO controller enables consumers to be creative with their music collection as soon as they take the unit out of the box. The new controller also incorporates MIDI functionality, making it possible to be used with other MIDI compatible DJ software.

The stylish controller is designed using contoured edges with black, white and gradient colors and a large 115 mm platter for increased operability. The system also features "Pulse Control" that illuminates various areas of the controller to assist in the mixing process.



KEY FEATURES

   • Pulse Control – The integrated Pulse Control of the DDJ-ERGO provides users with visual prompts via
      various types of illuminations on its buttons and platters. The controller utilizes a new "Pure Platter" jog wheel
      that helps guide the user during performance with the movement of lights in accordance with the pitch, beat,
      and effects of the music as well as when a song is being loaded.

      - Mix Pulse – The mix pulse mode shows the difference in pitch of songs currently playing through the
        light of the jog wheel. As the pitch of songs begin to match, the intensity of the light increases. In conjunction
        with the music, the pulse of lights increases beat matching skills.
      - Beat Pulse – The embedded LEDs in the channel faders illuminate along with the beat of the current
        song playing. The illumination intensifies and weakens based on the output sound level.
      - Launch Pulse – Triggers a red light to illuminate on the jog wheel to signify a press of the track load
        button.
      - FX Pulse – The effect being applied to the currently playing song will be represented not only audibly but
        also via the light movements on the Jog wheel.

   • Laptop Dock Design – Like Pioneer's other DDJ controllers, the DDJ-ERGO is designed to accommodate the
      placement of a laptop computer below the unit to help save room and bring the screen closer to the user. The
      controller also features removable legs, enabling it be used in angled or horizontal positions.
   • DJ Software – The DDJ-ERGO includes a copy of the "Virtual DJ LE" software by Atomix Productions that
      offers a broad range of functions for mixing songs, such as making loops, adding effects and creating samples, as
      well as the ability to mix up to 4-channels and even perform video playback.
   • MIDI Compatibility – The DDJ-ERGO is compatible with Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI),
      allowing up to four-deck control and use of the controller's dedicated sampler button. The unit is also compatible
      with various MIDI compatible DJ software such as Native Instruments' TRAKTOR (not included).
   • USB Power – The DDJ-ERGO utilizes power from USB connections found on most computers, eliminating
      the need for an external power supply.
   • High Quality Audio – The unit employs the same audio technology used in Pioneer's professional DJ mixers
      for clear, powerful audio output.

   • Other features
      - Employs a P-LOCK Fader Cap locking mechanism to prevent the channel fader knobs and crossfader knob from
        slipping.
      - Built-in audio interface for high quality sound input and output.
