ini tentang REAL DJ comentnya gw copas :
* I think there are far too many haters who think their style of DJing is king, but we should be supporting each-other and sharing knowledge and insight regardless of who we play for, what style we play or how much we get paid. * I Believe a true mix DJ has the ability to read a crowed not just play a set list...The next is Good DJ you have to be able to read a crowed and at the same time be programing your set list. This means when your playing a song, you don't scan for the next song, you know the next song and 2+ other possible songs then after that you know the next song after that to play....so after all this you have a set list that was created on the spot that still will move the crowd. I do believe residency, even at a small club, creates a DJ. You learn what to do and what you cant do and a lot more guide lines that you just can't learn while sitting in your room. Scratch DJ is to quote z-trip, "you got to have soul". That is so true and I believe a good source of self timing helps. well that's my 2cents * A real DJ plays a mixture of what they love and what the crowd wants, they definitely have to know how to mix, I love scratching but its not necessary to be a great DJ. and also they most posses the ability to control the crowd with their musical selections BTW im one of those 2 technics, rane mixer, and shure m44-7 type guys lol, but i feel as long as you can do the above things it doesn't matter what you use * Today their are no boundaries in technique anymore.. so the only thing a DJ has, is his track-selection, the way he plays and how he interacts with the people. A DJ is an Artist. Everyone has its own Style, everyone is unique. A DJ is a DJ when he plays the way he likes to express himself with the Music. DJ's playin whats listed in Charts and only play what the "people" "like" to hear will sooner or later stop playing. They just do it for a kind of Ego-Kick.. But DJing is not the only scene where this happens.. + read the words from Pulse - thats what it got to be. greetings agyasphere * I think it depends on context and crowd expectation. Q-bert is a talented DJ but he'd get laughed out of my local. The people there want karaoke and Tom Jones and there's nothing wrong with that - it's all about context and crowd expectation. ini hanya sebagian terus sampe 100 koment semuanya membangun ,mereka repp semakin banyak semakin bagus gada yg aneh2,bukanya ingin di banding2in tapi kenapa kita ga coba seperti itu kan lebih enak dilihat .. pernah baca coment salah satu member di rvlx di tulis gini " kita ma santai bro kalau lo serius kita serius kalau lo becanda kita juga becanda ya tergantung topik " ya benar juga he6 #819

DJ? Who says so? It had to happen - reading one too many knee jerk "fake DJ" comments on tha internetz made me snap. So I pose this oh so simple question for you to ponder and get hot under the collar about - just what the hell is a "real DJ"? Since the dawn of the first popular digital DJ product hit the scene, a unified cry of "fake DJs" has reverberated fro the generation being replaced by said new shiny technology. Vinyl DJs dissed CDJs and DVSs, who in turn heaped hate upon controllerists, who are all ganging up on anyone who dare to use an iPad to play a tune to a crowd. But despite the basic principle of a DJ being the same - playing tracks one after another to keep the crowd on the dancefloor - subsequent generations are looked down upon from an ivory tower for daring to use anything new. Lets me pose some examples: • A truly gifted turntablist can be pulling amazing tricks but be clearing the dancefloor with each flarey click they perform. Are they a DJ? • A coked up Jesus posing VIP can be miming knob twiddles to a premade mixtape yet filling a stadium. Are they a DJ? • DJ Dave Doubledecks can be spinning Cher and Bruce Springstein on their iPod mixer to a floor full of wedding revellers. Are they a DJ? • A bedroom DJ who only mixes and scratches for their own enjoyment without ever playing to more than a few mates in their room. Are they a DJ? There seems to be a feeling that technology defines the DJ. But the irony of skratchworx is that despite pushing nextlevelness under your nose, it's all rather useless in the wrong hands. For me, a DJ is defined by their music choices, knowing what to mix and when and their technical skills in doing so, and most definitely not the gear they use of the format they spin. There are notable cultural exceptions of course, but generally speaking technology doesn't make you a DJ. Knowing your music and your crowd however does. For some, using anything other than 2 Technics decks, a Rane mixer and Shure M-447s is seen as heresy punishable by death. At the other end of the scale, MIDI controller rockers push a plethora of multi-coloured buttons wondering how the vinyl spinning dinosaurs even get gigs anymore. The common theme however is the both are probably rocking their respective audiences with their chosen hardware and music choices. Yet each has palpable scorn for the other. So the fact remains that there are all kinds of DJs playing with all kinds of technology and music old and new, and yet floors are still filled and all these different styles of DJs keep getting gigs. So all of them are "real DJs" right? So over to you - what is a real DJ? Equally what is a fake DJ? And what makes you think you're qualified to judge anyway? I'd love to hear from the widest spectrum of DJs and non DJs possible. But think before you write - it's an emotive topic and you're likely to get pounced up and taken to task if you can't form a reasoned debatable opinion. And be warned - as this is likely to polarise opinion to flaming level, I'll just edit or delete comments as I see fit if I feel it's getting out of hand. Use your head, write from your heart and let's have some really interesting debate on this one. Have fun and play nice. PLUR |
