ARJUN VAGALE __ BIOGRAPHY


Music saved my life ... a strong statement but so true, at least for Arjun Vagale. The music bug as a child bit him and he developed this into a life long passion and today his name stands synonymous with house music in India.

Arjun started DJ'ing at the young age of 16 in Bangalore. With a few close friends, he formed "DJ Fac-3" a group of 3 DJ's creatively playing together, sometimes simultaneously. Bangalore as a city was so starved for events that this group grew from strength to strength and in popularity in the local circuit and eventually they started participating in big gigs and major events with his first residency at Zebra Crossing.

In Jan '98 he moved to New Delhi to explore new avenues and was immediately spotted and picked up by "Sound of Music". Delhi is where he truly made a name for himself as a DJ, by playing at the biggest clubs and getting residencies at the hottest nightspots. He started at "Someplace Else" @ The Park; a small and exclusive club, and after winning the New Delhi 1999 DMC World DJ Championship he moved to South Delhi's finest club at the time, "Float" @ Parkroyal Hotel.

In Dec 2000, he had the opportunity to visit Calcutta, where he eventually took up residency at one of the city's oldest clubs "Anticlock" which had a large following and patronizing crowd. He headlined many events playing alongside Asian Underground Hero State of Bengal. Later that year he joined the "London Pub" @ Golden Park Hotel, which he helped, install, promote and establish. He built this club to be a venue to promote the more Underground house sound.

After spending a year at SAE, Singapore he returned back to New Delhi, India in 2002 and was offered residency at the Fashion Bistro @ 1 MG Road and later Djinns @ Hyatt Regency, New Delhi and had a year long stint there. From playing with legends like Judge Jules and Brandon Block to Blue Amazon and DJ Quicksilver, Arjun is on the forefront of the electronic music culture in India. Mega events like the Bacardi Blast and signature underground nights is the platform he uses to help push the House/Breaks scene onto a larger audience

On the production front, apart from scoring music for over 15 of India's top Fashion Designers at the 2004 and 2005 Lakme India Fashion Week, Arjun in mid 2003 released a house re-mix for Shan's club hit "Bhool Ja" on Virgin Records and arranged the the background score for a documentary film called "360 Degrees" based on DJ's in Delhi. He is also a member of the Electronic band "LOOP" along with Jalebee Productions partner Ashvin Mani Sharma, and in October 2004 they released an album on Music Today entitled "Chalte Chalte" which reached No.3 on the Radio Charts and remained there for 6 weeks. They also have a video of their title track which was aired on all major music channels. Acclaimed New York producer Cheb-I-Sabbah also asked Arjun to re-mix a track from his new album, La Kehna, entitled Bnet which will be out mid 2005 on Six Degrees Records.
