The first superstar produced by the breakbeat jungle movement, Goldie popularized drum'n'bass as a form of musical expression just as relevant for living-room contemplation as techno had become by the early '90s. For the first time, England had a beat maestro and tough-guy head who could match the scores of larger-than-life hip-hop stars America had produced, and the high profile of drum'n'bass as the first indigenously British dance music made Goldie a figure of prime importance. After spending several years working on his production skills at Reinforced Records (the home of 4hero), he founded Metalheadz Records, which released seminal dark-yet-intelligent singles by Source Direct, Photek, J. Majik, Optical, Lemon D, Wax Doctor, and Peshay, among others. In 1995, Goldie released Timeless, one of jungle's first and best full-length works of art.

He recorded his first single as Ajax Project, then debuted on Reinforced as Metalheadz with two 1992 singles, "Killermuffin" and "Menace." The 1993 single "Terminator" broke him into the jungle scene — besides pioneering the crucial jungle concept of time-stretching (basically extending a sample without altering its pitch) the single evinced the growing separation between the uplifting rave scene and its emerging dark side, reliant on breakbeats and restless vibes.

The name was later taken for his influential Metalheadz Records, which released material from a legion of crucial jungle artists: Photek, Doc Scott, Dillinja, Source Direct,Peshay, J Majik, Alex Reece, Lemon D, and Optical among others. Later singles such as "Angel" and remixes for 4hero's Reinforced label spread Goldie's fame, and in 1995 he signed a contract with London Records. His first major-label single was "Timeless," and his debut album of the same name followed in August 1995.

Goldie resurfaced in 1998 with a high-profile follow-up, SaturnzReturn, an epic two-disc set including one track, "Mother," that broke the 60-minute barrier itself. The album tanked with critics and fans, leading to a return to the underground later that year with the Ring of Saturn EP. Goldie mixed a two-disc volume in the INCredible series of mix albums compiled by Ovum, as well as a number of Metalheadz-centric sets. Malice in Wonderland, a production album credited to Rufige Kru, was completed for a 2007 release.

Junglists, the time we've all been waiting for is here. Our legendary drum'n'bass night, PHUNKTION:100 will land soon. For nearly 11 years, PHUNKTION has made marks in both local and international dance scenes. Those who remember the humble beginning of JAVABASS events will know this special occasions. We want to bring back that vibe with best artists and friendliest crowd around. For those who never made it to PHUNKTION, now is your chance to experience and be part of Indonesian dance music and JAVABASS history.

PHUNKTION has always been our passion since day one. Started back in 2003 during the rise of Jakarta Underground dance/club scene, many clubs and labels/crews from different musical genres are starting to sprung up all over. Events and parties are happening all over Jakarta in a healthy competitive atmosphere. In order to stand out from the crowd we need to come up with a brand name that can become synonymous with drum & bass. We need a name that junglist can identify with their music. That's when PHUNKTION was born. PHUNKTION means many things. first, it means the drum & bass scene is running, functioning properly, and are here to stay. Second, what separates drum & bass with other dance music is the FUNK and that's what it's all about. Third, phunk can also be associated with Punk. Our scene always operate according to our own ethos and very deep in DIY mentality, we are the Punk of dance music.

Through times, many venues and clubs became part of this small dance movement. From swanky jazz club Mardigras, the posh A2 Club, the underground Parc, the homely West Pacific, Willow, Phoenix, D'Barons, and the trendy 365Ecobar & Monstore Bar, they all helped made PHUNKTION becomes a legendary night with bigger crowd, more guest DJs and MCs playing and sponsors and magazine exposure that comes along the way. We've received 4 Paranoia Awards for Best DNB night and nominated numerous time on many dance music awards and end of the year best of list. PHUNKTION also intrumental in discovering new talents in both DJs and productions resulting in the founding of Javabass Recordings. Not only rocking Jakarta, we occasionally brought PHUNKTION on the road with our small tour tour Jogjakarta, Bali, Bandung and Lampung. One thing is certain. Clubs, DJs, ravers, and music trend come and go but PHUNKTION has managed to survive the test of time thanks to the support from all of you junglist! You are the reason why we do PHUNKTION all these years. To celebrate this moment, JAVABASS together with Go Ahead People have collaborate to put together PHUNKTION:100 a celebration of our small music, art, photography, fashion, culture and community.

Go Beyond Music!

Go Ahead People supports the 4 subculture of art in music, visual art, photography and fashion. Now, they have become synonymous with the creative movement in Indonesian youth.

With the tagline "Go Beyond Music", Go Ahead People have consistently held that facilitate not only musician but also other art forms and avenue to exhibit their works to the public.

With the same mission, to develop local creative industry, Go Ahead People is collaborating with Javabass to present PHUNKTION:100 0n September 2014. It's an event that will showcase Drum & Bass, Visual Art, Photo and Fashion exhibition in one night under one roof.

The Show

For this 100 edition not only all Javabass Soundsystem latest rooster : JEROME, RANDOM, ADDER , OSGD will be taking charge the music deck and DFMC , MC DRIFT will be spitting the mic, we also have a special guests that  will rock the dancefloor for sure . First we have ASTRONAUGHTY  a young and well established Dj & Producer in the national EDM circuit, then we also have this amazing Live PA trio  – CEK OMBAK PROJECT that will take you through to an experimental journey of Jungle, Dub, Hip Hop clash with traditional tripy soundscape. Not forget the infamous YACKO will also taking charge the mic to make sure everyone will stay on their feet and bounce all night

This time, PHUNKTION collaborate with Go Ahead People will present Visual art installation by THE GLOBALPORT, ISHA HENING, PGGW, NSANE5, and 2ND BITE. There's also Phunktion photography exhibiton by NAREEND, ALI THE BEAT, and KEKE TUMBUAN.

There will be our  PHUNKTION:100 special limited edition T-shirts available for sale ( bring extra cash for this) , also free mix CDs give away, and loads of stickers.

The Venue

Soupanova Eco Sky  has its roots and background in Berlins vivid bar and restaurant scene. It has superb FUNKTION 1 soundsystem and thrilling Jakarta night city view as its located on The GKM GREEN TOWER rooftop. This typical locations with a typical style, which we refer to as berlin wall -style, that are unique in atmosphere and character. They also has a lot of gigs that consists of non mainstream music going on, and that includes Techno , Deep House & Drum n Bass . Soupanova combine café, restaurant, bar and club in one location in order to maximize convenience and comfort for the visitor. Even their dress code policy is DRESS DOWN TO COOL DOWN, so all you junglist don't have to worry about the usual dress up / high heels door  policy like other clubs , you all can wear comfortable clothes & shoes to maximize your dancing moves .

Jebar – DJ and producer of more than 9-years of experience. One of the popular musicians of the Urals, a well-known electronic music lovers around the world. Jebar by 3 releases on vinyl (Defunked, Soundtrax, Blu Saphir recordings). His music is a mixture of dancefloore soulful, liquid funk & dubwise tunes that leave no one indifferent person and have only positive emotions. Which would not have acted Jebar, his appearance in public accompanied by success, applause and enthusiastic audience!

He not only speaks and writes music, but also in 2002 been actively involved in the night life of the city of Chelyabinsk, hosting events and brings DnB guests. More! Since 2008, engaged in the development of one of the oldest clubs in Russia with more than eleven-story night club GARAGE UNDERGROUND. Jebar Art Director Club.

A few years ago Jebar founded his label Liquid Brilliants Records, which today is respected in Russia and in the West. Liquid Brilliants Records is pleased the world 40 successful releases, including the release of the most Jebar'a. The history of the label is just beginning.

In this case, it seems incredible, but Jebar constantly touring all over the globe, which is confirmed list of cities he visited New York, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Minsk, Volgograd, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Chelyabinsk, Orenburg, Omsk , Izhevsk, Tomsk, Togliatti, Magnitogorsk. And this is not a complete list.

Jebar-party's most high-profile and large-scale festivals: the Republic of Kazantip 004, D'n'B National Convention 02,04,05. Wetluck 06 (Altai). He played on the same stage with such stars as Teebee, Panacea, Paradox, Bailey, Groove, Hype, SS, Tech Itch, Raiden, Dom & Roland, Matrix, N-Phect, Kabuki, Benny Page, The Sect, Hazard, Axiom, Freestylers, Submerged , Utah Jazz, LAOS, Mutated Forms and many others.

In his set, he prefer only light of the musical material. In May 2007, he released a mix CD in St. Petersburg – Dj Jebar – Colours of Summer Mix – on the label REWIND REC, accompanied the release of two-party presentation: Chelyabinsk and Saint-Petersburg.
2010 saw the release of their debut album. In 2011 the expected release of the second album already.

Dedosixteen or better known as Sixteen became a student of the hip hop movement after watching Dj Cream Spinning at Parkit back in the days. Beginning with his residency at EX Plaza Indonesia around 2004, before he joined D'makaveli one of the biggest hip hop party promoters in the scenes of Jakarta Night life in 2005 for 2 years. He has made a name for himself in Jakarta's RnB club scene and quickly gained more knowledge and experience of the whole entertainment scene by playing at various parties and events.

By the end of 2007, he moved to Birmingham United Kingdom to continue his study in Birmingham University. Playing in HouseFM radio in London for couple a month in early 2008 with Soulful Angus, triggered him to explore different kind of music. He has got more influences from UK Djs such as Mr Scruff, Four tet, Tim Green, Julio Bashmore, Maya Jane Coles, Jimpster and inspired by Skream, Benga, Caspa J:Kenzo, Loefah, Mala & Coki (Digital Mystikz ) he discovered his musical faith through Dubstep.

Since he came back for good to Indonesia, Sixteen's an open minded DJ who has no limitation in accepting new kinds Of Music and Beats, his sound can best be described as Dubstep, Grime, 2step, with an expertise of jazz, afrobeat, deephouse, reggae, rhythm & blues. Share deck with his favorite dj's Cooly G, Diplo, Shockone, El Hornet of Pendulum and now his joining the most respectable label in Indonesia DAFKAF INC along side Remy Irwan, 1man, Danish w, Dialogue 7, Andre Uchiel, Putra, Rangga, Mamit, Alvin K & Motioninja triggered him to bring dubstep to the next level in Indonesian Dance Scene.

Believe it or not, we've been at it for 12 years. During that time we've had members come and go. We've seen numerous DNB crews come and go too. Big up to all those crews for making our scene that much more colorfull. Its our 12th Anniversary and we'd like to thank the loyal Indonesian Junglist. Homogenic just trying to simplify electronic music with slightly female voice pop then blend it with a bit drum and bass and IDM, the result is a sweet electronic pop tunes that might be and could be listened by broad ears without being labeled as a segmented music yet a majority pop. Their eclecticism always longing to find its greatest, in a hail of lush melodies, playful instruments and stuttering beats. And now, Homogenic marked a dramatic shift and used their position and influence to help launching new acts, developed their new style as they establish themselves as a recording artist. they are changing from the heated first album to yet another invention as another bold step along their utterly unique musical path.
