What's Berghain?

Notorious in Berlin, and certainly in the techno music scene, the Berghain nightclub has been called by many the best club in the world. Located in a former power station, it's basically this giant warehouse full of half-naked men. (That's not entirely an exaggeration.) I've heard it called a gay club, a gay-straight club (whatever that is) or just the best club in the world, whether gay or straight. The door policy for getting in is practically legendary. It's not exactly your typical hipster Berlin club, but something of it's own league. The people who visit the club each weekend are here for one thing: to have fun. And that's why I fell in love with the nightclub.

First time at Berghain

Berghain has two dance floors: Berghain on the main level and Panoramabar on the second. The bar/nightclub on the second level, Panoramabar, has these giant windows to the outside. Considering that I didn't enter the club until 6 a.m., light was peeking through the window shutters inside as the sun was rising outside. At one point, the music playing in Panorama synched with the window shades as the windows slowly opened; then quickly shut. Everyone dancing the whole while, light streaming onto the dance floor in a flash. Incredible.

There are two types of people in the world—those that go to Berghain and those that don't. (Okay, that's definitely an exaggeration.) Because of the nightclub's reputation ("gay", "popular", "overrated", "expensive") some may be turned off from visiting. But in all honesty, it's an incredible place. The atmosphere inside Berghain is tough to describe without extravagant superlatives: incredible, amazing, etc., but I'll try to give you a sense of what it's like inside:

The music inside Berghain/Panorama is loud, but with a sound system regarded as one of Berlin's best, the music doesn't hurt your ears. Honestly.
It's not strictly a gay club though there are definitely a lot of gay guys there (and many of them shirtless).
Inside, there's a palpable sense that the people inside Berghain are just there to have fun and to dance.
Because it's common to go alone or in a pair (many more than that and you might not get past the door), most people don't know each other. Luckily Berghain's reputation almost guarantees that most Berliners will try to make it in at some point over the weekend. For me, I ended up running into a co-worker on the dance floor. (Though I'll admit I didn't recognize him without his shirt.)

buat masuk nya emang rada2 gambling, dipilih secara random, kalau ga bisa masuk ya dateng aja lagi sejam kemudian.. di sekitar berghain juga ada beberapa club atau bar yang ok.. , tapi berghain is an institution, you have to see it for your self.. at least once.  lo bisa nemu siapa aja, dari berbagai macam bentuk, umur dan pekerjaan.. tapi kebanyakan rata rata up 25 years old yang bisa dapat chance masuk, walaupun pemeriksaan id sebenarnya jarang atau bahkan ga ada..
publikum nya mixed.. tourist, berliner, gay, orang tua, business man, mahasiswa campur semua nya.
berghain is the main dance floor.. with techno or minimal sounds dan di lantai atas, panorama bar with a view of berlin .. its mainly house music..
dresscode ga ada, just be your self! didalam toilet nya unisex and no mirrors at all!

.open on weekends with a VERY strict door policy, getting crowded between 4am-10pm.
The best techno acts for a rather cheap entrance fee (mostly its only 12€),the most intense soundsystem for techno
,the best vibe you can get at a techno venue.

''Berghain is not a gay club. It's a gay-friendly club and what they want is a really good mix of people.
They want cool people. They want open minded and chilled people. They want lots of straight people and lots of gay people. They want everyone to feel comfortable inside and not threatened. They also want to protect their gay clientele from any kind of disapproving looks, words or actions. You need to show them by everything you do at the door that you are cool, laid back and open minded, and won't be shocked if you happen to see two men together.''They want Berlin, everything that's cool and diverse.

ps: photo and vid camera is not allowed.

Kalkbrenner uses software-synthesizers, sequencer (Ableton Live) in combination with midi-controllers, hardware-synthesizers and -drummachines for his live shows.

On April 12, 2011, Kalkbrenner announced the album Icke Wieder, released on June 3, 2011 via his own new label Paul Kalkbrenner Musik.
About the album, he stated: "There won't be any singing on the album, no music of tomorrow either, it feels generally more like... well, old times".

The big daddy of Jakarta's scene, Stadium has the heritage (established in 1997), the reputation (DJs including Sasha and Digweed have spun here), the capacity (around 4000), the sound system and the crowd. There are four levels, but the main room is where the prime dance-floor action is – a dark, cavernous space of pounding beats full of clubbers in sunglasses. This ain't no disco and Stadium has a distinctly underground vibe. Its weekend session is totally hardcore – beginning on Thursday evening and running until Monday morning. coming on 23.03.12 Paul Kalkbrenner,Berlin with The Outer Limits Party @ Stadium Jakarta.
