Release Info:

Once again the American wonder producer Derek Howell teams up with Dutch record label Groovecollection Records. After his Pinkbox Special' "The Ballz" and his own "Cheeky Activity EP" releases he his now ready to hit you once again with a massive club track called "Spare Time". With established producer Kosmas Epsilon and young and upcoming producers Christian Sol and Federico Epis on remix duties this one is to watch out for.

The original version of "Spare Time" can't be described other than massive, haunting and energetic. We have no idea how Derek does it, but he keeps on making these filthy head-bangers. The haunting strings, kick-ass bassline and loads of fx and productional tricks make this one a dancefloor destroyer of the purest kind. The build in this track is amazing and the twisted distorted and panned part in the second break will leave the people both amazed and confused.

First up on remix duties is Greek producer Kosmas Epsilon who turns the prog-techy original into something real housy. A real funky bassline gets you into the groove and housy organs and strings take care of the rest. Only a few hints from the original turn back in this remix, but it's completely different and one for the housier or proggier heads.

Christian Sol is on a roll in 2007 with the highlight being his remix for Nils Noa's "X-Rated" on Groovecollection Red. Steve Lawler liked it so much he put it on his latest Viva compilation. The Norwegian producer/dj turns "Spare Time" into something more techy at a lower bpm. Very catchy and groovy this mix contains more of the original, being very different though. Somewhere between Rene Amesz and the popular tech house from today this one should appeal to both housier and techier heads.

Last up is one of Uruguay's upcoming artists Federico Epis who recently saw his "Brasilia" being hammered by none other than The Man Like. He listened carefully to the original and made into a very bass-driven cool remix. Extra synth additions and stabs hold the spooky feel the original has. But at the same time it's more groovy and bouncy. A very nice addition to complete the package.
