PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Technology

DJ deck
Originally, a deck was a turntable, referred to as a vinyl turntable, used by DJs to play music. Today, DJs use the term deck to refer to any music player, CD player or MP3 player equipped with a wheel to advance/rewind within a piece as with a vinyl turntable. A dual-deck device is a device with two wheels which control playback of two different pieces of music.

Jog wheel
In DJing, a jog wheel is a wheel simulating the function of a turntable (also called a vinyl deck), and can be used to control playback of a CD, DVD, MP3 player or computer. A jog wheel is used to navigate within a piece, to speed up or slow down to the music or to produce sound effects such as scratching (the sound made by a microgroove record on a turntable when the record is quickly pushed forward or pulled back by hand). The Hercules DJ Console, DJ Control and Mobile DJ all include jog wheels.

Pitch
Pitch is the playback speed variation of a piece of music in relation to its original speed: increasing the pitch of a piece of music by 10% results in playing it back 10% faster than its normal speed.
Mixing / Mix
Mixing is the art of blending together several pieces of music to create an overall sound. The music produced by this act is referred to as a mix.

MIDI
Acronym for Musical Instrument Digital Interface, MIDI is a protocol for exchanging digital audio information between digital devices (synthesizer, drum machine, MIDI expander, master keyboard...), and also functions as a set of instructions recognized by music software. The DJ Console MK2 and DJ Control MP3, which are MIDI-compatible, can control software which can be controlled via MIDI: namely DJ software, but also music or video editing software, or VJing software.

Mini-jack / 3.5mm jack
Mini-jack is also referred to as a 3.5mm jack or 1/8" connector. A mini-jack connector is a mono or stereo connector used to connect audio inputs or outputs on mass market sound cards.

Scratch
