Semuanya tergantung budget. Tapi ada baiknya coba dulu pake midi controller (Fav. gw bcr-2000 + keyboard qwerty/keyboard midi nya creative) dan ulik abis kemungkinan2 di resolumenya, baru beli V4 (yg notabene range harganya dari 12-15 juta brand new).

kalo memurut gw, klo lo punya budget yg gede mending lo beli video mixer like EDIROL atau yg lainnya like pannasonic video mixer etc....
kalo masalah midi controler sich itu cuma controler, ga bisa ngemix 2 video dari 2 source yg berbeda/ dua komp, dia cuma bisa ngemix dari 2 layer aja, kalo lo pake resomlume lu cuma bisa ngemix 2 layer aja, sebenernya 3 layer jg bisa, ya tergantung lo mappingnya gimana dan enaknya elo aja gimana. sebenernya EDIROL jg ngeluarin video controler koq namanya EDIROL Motion Dive harganya sekitar 6 jt-an lebih enak dan simpel bentuknya dibanding Behringer. Tapi semua itu balik lagi ke lo-nya enaknya gimana.

sekarang udah banyak orang yang menyewakan mixer edirol. harganya sekali sewa antara 500rb - 1 juta (tergantung kelengkapan). jadi kalo lo baru mulai maen visual mending ga perlu beli, kecuali gig lo udah lumayan rutin, jadi pemasukan lo bisa lo sisihin untuk "nyicil". lagian mendingan lo ulik dulu softwarenya baru kalo udah jago beli mixernya. duitnya mending lo beliin midi controler. atau 1 laptop baru.

eniwei, mixer visual ga bisa disamain sama midi controler sob.
mixer visual :
sebuah hardware video yang mampu crossfading / switching dari source video A ke source video B. untuk memakainya tidak diperlukan alat lain (dedicated hardware).

midi controler :
alat yang mengeluarkan sinyal midi untuk selanjutnya dipergunakan oleh software untuk mengontrol fungsi fungsi yang ada di software tersebut. sinyal tersebut biasanya berbentuk nada, misal nada C1 akan kita gunakan untuk trigger video A, nada E1 untuk trigger efek dst. untuk menggunakan midi controler diperlukan software yang dapat memanfaatkan midi controler, misal : ableton, reason, sony vegas, adobe premier, arkaos, resolume, 3d max, dll, kebanyakan software video / recording sekarang support midi controler. ada 3 jenis controler, yaitu midi keyboard (yang pake tuts piano), midi rotari (untuk diputer2), ama midi slider.

motion dive controler bukan mixer, banyak yang salah paham tentang ini. mungkin alatnya lebih pas dibilang midi controler juga.

kalo mixer panasonic ga cocok buat vj, lebih cocok untuk produksi skala yg lebih besar. lagipula bentuknya besar banget ga pas buat dipake barengan 2 laptop disisinya, atau dibawa kemana mana.

untuk di bali, lo bisa minjem edirol dari surabaya, telpon ajah anak2 sono suruh cariin.

solusi buat mixer2an ini :
1. beli the good ol SELECTOR.
kalo yang ini buat switch ke dvd ato buat back up kalau2 komputernya ngehang.
2. pake software mixer.
caranya lo beli 2 buah TV TUNER, terus lo tinggal nyalain software yang lo pake, misalnya resolume, tinggal lo cari tab source, terus cari capture drivernya. tuner A buat ngambil dari laptop lain, terus tuner B bisa lo pake untuk masuk dari dvd atau video camera.

kenapa gak bikin aja sob video mixer sederhana? (2 line in 1 line out, crossfade pake twist knob), skemanya banyak di internet. Honestly gw juga gak bisa sih ngerangkainya, tapi alhamdulillah temen gw ada yg bisa. Bikinan temen gw itu kmaren line in-nya s video, out rca. Ukurannya cuma segede av selector gedean dikit, budget bikinnya juga gak mahal2 amat. Gw denger2 di Surabaya/jogja/semarang banyak yg jago2 ngerakit instrumen sendiri tuh.. bisa dicoba kalau mau..tinggal pinter2nya aja ngerayu yg bisa bikin..hehehhehhe

Buat referensi aja, ada beberapa Video Mixer selain Edirol V-4 yang kira kira harganya lebih murah dari Edirol V-4 tapi ada juga yang lebih mahal dari Edirol V-4.
Tapi kalo yang pasti sih masih lebih murah dari Video Mixer Panasonic MX70 yang harganya lebih dari Rp. 50 juta. (Video Mixer ini kelasnya bukan untuk Visual Jockey tapi lebih ke multicamera dan broadcast)

Ini dia, video mixer selain Edirol V-4 (sayangnya belum tentu bisa didapatkan di Indonesia)

Kira kira itu deh perkembangan video mixer yang kelasnya sekitar Edirol V-4.
Ada gossip Edirol V-4 akan dikembangkan lagi, akhir tahun ini atau tahun depan udah release versi terbaru dari Edirol V-4 (tipenya jadi apa nggak tau) dengan input 8 channel 

Kalo ada udah ada yang bisa bikin Video Mixer sendiri sih bagus banget tuh. Tapi harganya jangan lebih dari 3 juta kali ya. Kalo udah lebih dari 3 juta mending beli yang Pioneer.

Kita ada Video Mixer Panasonic jaman dulu. Boleh dibongkar buat research kalo mau merakit Video Mixer.
Kondisi rusak, sudah kita tanya ke glodok dan mangga dua kalo benerin harganya Rp. 2,5 juta. ganti board nya.

Wihh canggih2 ya mixer! kalo kita sih rencananya mau dibuat open source (trus mo di buat forumnya biar ada feedback) dan murah bgt, yg penting ongkos produksinya ketutup (plus laba dikiiiit hehehhe), yg penting bisa support VJ2 lokal.. kita lihat saja nanti!
