Dan Snaith is an interesting specimen in the world of music. He resembles your average high school geography teacher and has a PhD in Mathematics, yet he's chosen to make music and unsurprisingly he's got rather good at it. Dan produced first his album 'Start Breaking My Heart', back in 2001 under the pseudonym Manitoba, winning praise for his innovative use of melody and clever rhythms. At around the same time, Kieran Hebden was hitting his stride as Four Tet, climbing aboard the good ship Domino and recording music in an equally scientifically minded setting as Dan Snaith, reconstructing ideas found between folk, free jazz and glossy R'n'B using idiosyncratic shareware software most producers would laugh about. It only felt natural when they would hype each other. And while Caribou took a decidedly psychedelic direction in the following years and Four Tet explored jazz and rhythm with people like Steve Reid, the feeling they were possessed by similar spirits remained all along. And, expectedly, their unannounced joint set at Moogfest 2010 is a monolithic aural pleasure
