The Gaslamp Killer is a Los Angeles-based DJ whose eclectic style ranges from psychedelia and world music to dubstep and left-field hip-hop. Associated with Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder Records, he made his production debut in the late 2000s with a series of EPs. Born William Benjamin Bensussen, he originally comes from San Diego, CA, whose downtown Gaslamp District's bar scene inspired him to name himself the Gaslamp Killer in disgust for much of the patronage. Upon relocating to Los Angeles, he found a niche for himself amid the city's massive underground party scene and ultimately found a home for himself as a resident DJ at the club Low End Theory, which resulted in a series of club-sponsored podcasts. He also released a series of mix CDs, among them Gaslamp Killers (2007), It's a Rocky Road (2007), I Spit on Your Grave (2008), Hell and the Lake of Fire Are Waiting for You! (2009), and All Killer (2009), the latter a label showcase for the London-based world psychedelia imprint Finders Keepers Records. As a producer, the Gaslamp Killer made his debut in the late 2000s, releasing, for instance, a split single with Free the Robots, "The Killer Robots," on Obey Records in 2008 and an EP, My Troubled Mind, on Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder Records in 2009. ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide

FOUR TET
(http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/zanelowe/FourTet.jpg)
Kieran Hebden (born 1977, Putney, London, England, United Kingdom) is a post-rock and electronic musician. Hebden first came to prominence as a member of the band Fridge before establishing himself as a solo artist under the moniker of Four Tet.
Hebden's music typically eschews the traditional pop song format in favour of a more abstract approach—his sound and melodies incorporate elements of hip hop, electronica, techno, jazz, and folk music with live instrumentation.
Alongside recording his own material, Hebden has also performed remixes for a number of artists including Aphex Twin, Anti-Pop Consortium, Bonobo, Beth Orton, Explosions in the Sky, Super Furry Animals, Radiohead, Manic Street Preachers, Matthew Dear, Sia, Nathan Fake, Bloc Party, Andrew Bird, Kings of Convenience, Battles, Juana Molina, Madvillain, and Black Sabbath, as well as producing two albums by psychedelic improvisational group Sunburned Hand of the Man. Hebden's recent output includes a number of improvisational works with the late jazz drummer Steve Reid, and a collaboration with Burial.

YEASAYER
(http://highrotation.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/yeasayer1.jpg)
The band's three core members, Chris Keating, Ira Wolf Tuton, and Anand Wilder, first came to attention after appearing at the SXSW festival in early 2007. Their first single consisted of a double A-side of the tracks "Sunrise" and "2080". Following the release of debut album All Hour Cymbals in October 2007 by We Are Free, Yeasayer described their music as "Middle Eastern-psych-snap-gospel". Live performances often include psychedelic visuals.
In 2008, Yeasayer toured with MGMT and Man Man and supported Beck. The same year, a public a cappella concert, "Take Away Show", was performed on the Paris metro. The band has also played at Lollapalooza, the Pitchfork Music Festival, the Austin City Limits Festival, and the Reading and Leeds Festivals. Yeasayer appeared at the Coachella Music Festival of 2010, and are scheduled to perform at the Australian music festival Splendour In The Grass in August. Backed by labels Secretly Canadian and Mute Records, Yeasayer released their second studio album, Odd Blood, in February 2010, featuring more pop music influences than earlier work.

Makai was born in rural Japan but has been based in the United Kingdom since the age of 11. Released on XL, Zongamin featured a number of previously vinyl-only tracks, in addition to a handful of new productions. Makai has also churned out a handful of strong remixes for the likes of Playgroup (who featured his "Tunnel Music" on a DJ Kicks mix), Grafiti, and Seelenluft.

GANG GANG DANCE
(http://sector2814.files.wordpress.com/2008/09/gang_gang_dance.jpg)
Gang Gang Dance's beginnings are somewhat amorphous. Formed in "about 1999", initially under the swiftly-abandoned handle Death and Dying, they kicked off as a loose collective, formed around Bougatsos, a New Yorker spoken-word artist, and two former members of Washington, DC's spastic neo-no-wavists The Cranium, Degraw and drummer Tim DeWit.
Beginning making improvised noise music at "a practice space which [they] shared with Black Dice and Animal Collective," Gang Gang Dance were an art project more than a band. Their lineup was fluid enough that their pals, guitarist Josh Diamond and vocalist Nathan Maddox, would drop in on recordings, and come on stage in live-sets. Whilst Gang Gang Dance would play shows around Brooklyn, they were never something so prosaic as a 'band'.
"We used borrowed equipment," Bougatsos recounted, to Identity Theory, "but we were banging on anything that we could make a beat on, whether it was the floor, a chair, a garbage can, etc. Our shows when we first formed were also improvisation, 'anything goes' style. I think we hated each other as a result, but it took a lot of guts to meet up and not rehearse, then play a show".

Midnight Juggernauts are a band from Melbourne, Australia composed of Andrew Szekeres, Vincent Vendetta, and Daniel Stricker. The band has been described as anything from 'prog dance meets cosmic film scores' to 'slasher-flick disco' to 'deadpan landscape'. It is hard to define the band's sound as all the instruments are played live through a range of samplers, pads and various acoustic instruments. Following the release of numerous 7", 12" vinyls, and limited edition EPs, the band released their debut album Dystopia. After playing festivals and headlining tours worldwide during late 2007-2008, the band has finished working on their follow up album. The group also runs the label Siberia Records, through which they release their own music and in the future plan to release other artists' material.

The project was first announced on Tuesday, September 29, 2009. The pair decided to work together after meeting at the Roskilde Festival, a Danish music festival, in 2004 and finding they were fans of each other's work.It took four more years before the two started working together and by March 2008 Mercer and Burton began recording together in secret at Burton's Los Angeles-based studio. The two describe their material as "melodic, but experimental, too".
On December 14 the band released their first email update, in which a binary-coded message stating 'The High Road is hard to find' was displayed, offering a link to the band's web page, now with a new color scheme, for 'further details'. On the morning of December 21, the band informed fans in an e-mail message of the release of their debut single "The High Road", which was made available as a free download on their official site. DOES IT OFFEND YOU, YEAH?
Does It Offend You, Yeah? were formed in Reading, UK by James Rushent and Dan Coop,[1] in April 2006 and released their first album (You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into) in Spring 2008. Their follow up album, Don't Say We Didn't Warn You, is to be released in the latter half of 2010.
Does It Offend You, Yeah? were the ninth most listened to new band of 2008 on last.fm [2] and were included in the best alternative music list of 2008 on iTunes USA. They were announced as a Rolling Stone breaking Artist in 2008[3]
The band's first album, You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into (2008), was written and performed by James Rushent, Rob Bloomfield and Dan Coop. Death From Above 1979 vocalist Sebastien Grainger performed the lead vocals on "Let's Make Out". In 2008, Does It Offend You, Yeah? was accompanied on stage by guitarist Morgan Quaintance. In 2009, Chloe Duveaux (from Elle Milano) and Matty Derham (from Fields) joined the band.
Some have compared them to dance acts like Daft Punk,[3] Justice, and Digitalism. A smaller group believes they have similar sounds to The Killers or Gorillaz. NME compares them to bands like Muse due to their heavier, more "live" sound.[4] The group is known for its raucous live shows, which often end with stage diving and broken instruments.[3]
The band have appeared on US television on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Last Call with Carson Daly. They have also appeared on British television programmes Sound (BBC) and Transmission (Channel 4). They also appeared alongside artists Pharrell Williams, Santogold, Julian Casablancas, MGMT and Karen O as part of The Converse Century Celebration advertising campaign.
Lead singer James Rushent co-produced The Prodigy's "Invaders Must Die" and their top five hit "Omen".[5] Does It Offend You, Yeah? have remixed songs for acts such as Muse, The Raconteurs and Bloc Party.

FOALS
Foals are a 5-piece band from Oxford, England. They are currently signed to Transgressive Records in the UK and Sub Pop in the USA. They released their debut album Antidotes on 24 March 2008 in the UK, and 8 April 2008 in the USA.
Jack Bevan and Yannis Philippakis were originally in cult math rock band The Edmund Fitzgerald, which did not gain much media interest. The group was disbanded after they claimed that things had become "too serious" and they wanted to have more "fun making their music".
Walter and Jimmy were part of a small Oxford band called Face Meets Grill. They met and were formed from members of Abingdon Boys School. They played gigs in and around Oxford and recording a debut EP in Hull. After playing truck festival in 2004 they separated to follow different paths and careers.
Guitarist Jimmy Smith is the only one of the band members to have completed his degree, at Hull University: each of the band members quit their respective universities including Yannis and Edwin leaving their English courses at Oxford University, when the band signed to Transgressive Records by Ben Mackereth.
The lead singer of Youthmovies, Andrew Mears, originally formed the band Foals, playing as guitarist and lead vocalist. He was present on the band's debut 7" single "Try This On Your Piano/Look At My Furrows Of Worry", but left shortly afterwards to concentrate on Youthmovies debut album Good Nature.
The band's musical influences are varied, with the band members citing minimal techno, Arthur Russell, Kraut rock bands such as Harmonia, Talking Heads and marijuana as their main sources of inspiration. Their musical style however, can be more directly linked to various genres such as indie rock, dance-punk, math rock, post-punk revival and techno.
In early Summer 2007, the band began work on their debut album. It was produced by Dave Sitek of TV On The Radio. The band, however, decided to mix the album themselves in the end, stating that Sitek made the first master copy of the album sound like "it was recorded in the Grand Canyon". Yannis has stated multiple times during various interviews that Foals and Dave Sitek are on good terms, even when the copy by Sitek was rejected by the band. Foals released their debut album, entitled Antidotes on 24th March 2008 in the UK and 8th April 2008 in the USA. The album was a commercial success in the United Kingdom, debuting at #3 in the UK Albums Charts.[2] The album was a minor success in other countries, charting in Japan, France and in the Netherlands.

Caribou
Daniel Victor Snaith (born 1978), better known by the stage names Caribou and Manitoba, is a Canadian electronic musician.
Snaith was born in London, Ontario and grew up in Dundas, Ontario. Snaith attended Parkside Secondary School and later studied mathematics at the University of Toronto and later at Imperial College London (PhD). He is the son of Victor Snaith, a mathematics professor at the University of Sheffield, and the brother of Nina Snaith, a reader in mathematics at the University of Bristol.
Snaith previously recorded under the stage name Manitoba, but changed his name in 2004 under threat of an American lawsuit by Richard "Handsome Dick" Manitoba the stage name of The Dictators frontman Richard Blum. As Snaith himself commented, "It's like The Smiths suing John Smith or something"
Snaith usually performs with a live band when playing gigs, often assuming the role of percussionist. Currently, Snaith's live band is made up of himself, Ryan Smith, Brad Weber, and John Schmersal. (Former bassist Andy Lloyd now plays with Born Ruffians.) Sets also often include complex video projections on a large screen, a DVD of which was released in November 2005. "In music I will have an idea to put some different sounds together or a melody that meshes with a chord sequence or a sonic mood," said Snaith in an interview. "I'm not the type of person who takes physical things apart and plays around with them, but I like taking mental ideas apart and playing around with them. That's what appeals to me about what I've spent my life doing."
He completed his Ph.D. in mathematics at Imperial College London in 2005. His thesis, titled Overconvergent Siegel Modular Symbols, was written under the direction of Kevin Buzzard.Snaith currently resides in London, England.
His 2007 album Andorra was named the winner of the 2008 Polaris Music Prize

Autechre
(http://ooo.fm/grooove/images/autechre.jpg)
Autechre is an English electronic music group consisting of Rob Brown and Sean Booth, both natives of Rochdale, Greater Manchester. Formed in 1987, the duo are one of the most prominent acts signed with Warp Records, a label known for its pioneering electronic music and through which all Autechre albums have been released. While most associated with IDM (intelligent dance music), Booth and Brown are ambivalent in relating their sound to established genres.[1] Their music has exhibited a gradual shift in aesthetic throughout their career, from their earlier work with clear roots in techno, electro and hip hop to later albums that are often considered more experimental in nature, featuring complex patterns of rhythm and subdued melodies. Oversteps, their most recent album, was released on February 22nd 2010.
Autechre have also recorded under various pseudonyms. One of the duo's earliest recordings was a 12" under the alias Lego Feet, released in 1991 on Skam Records. The majority of releases by the mysterious "umbrella project" Gescom, most of them on Skam, have been attributed to Booth and Brown, among other artists.

Tosca
(http://my.opera.com/E.%20Driver/homes/albums/35120/tosca.jpg)
Tosca is an electronic music project of Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber. It is Dorfmeister's second such project, the first being Kruder & Dorfmeister, started in 1994. Tosca's first album, Opera, was released in 1997 with G-Stone Recordings.
Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber first met in school, and began experimenting with tape machines, Indian music, and poetry lyrics, under the name of Dehli9. After school, Dorfmeister and Huber went their separate ways: Dorfmeister began producing and DJing with Peter Kruder, and Huber worked in the experimental music scene. In 1994, Dorfmeister and Huber released their first 12", entitled "Chocolate Elvis", on Kruder and Dorfmeister's G-Stone Recordings.

TAME IMPALA
Tame Impala were formed from Kevin Parker's original blues/jazz/psychedelic band, the Dee Dee Dums. The Dee Dee Dums consisted of Parker (drums) and Luke Epstein (guitar), with the band getting second place at the 2005 AmpFest and winning third place that year in the state final of The Next Big Thing. In October 2006 the Dee Dee Dums won the WA state final of the National Campus Band Competition. In late 2007 the band renamed to Tame Impala unveiling a new drummer and replacing the two-guitar attack for the more traditional guitar/bass/drums format. Epstein going on to play with Sugarpuss.

DATA ROCK
Datarock is a Norwegian electro rock band. The band formed in 2000 as Fredrik Saroea, Ketil Mosnes and Kevin O'Brien and soon hired Tom Mæland. O'Brien and Mæland later left the band, but the duo of Saroea and Mosnes continued the project.
The band has released three EPs and their debut album, Datarock Datarock, was released in 2005 in 10 countries on the band's own label, YAP (Young Aspiring Professionals), receiving favourable reviews, especially in the UK. They made an appearance in Australia's Triple J Hottest 100 with the single "Computer Camp Love" in 2005, placing at #12[citation needed]. Fredrick has commented that Australia was the only country to pick up Datarock early aside from their homeland.[1] This song was #88 on Rolling Stone's list of the 100 Best Songs of 2007.[2]
Their song "Fa-Fa-Fa" was featured in a Coca-Cola advert,[3] and is also featured in NHL 08, FIFA 08, and NBA Live 08. It also appears in The Sims 2: Free Time, and The Sims' video team was asked to create a custom music video for "Fa-Fa-Fa."[4] Another one of their songs, "New Song," is featured in Madden NFL 08. In addition, a remix of "I Used To Dance With My Daddy" is featured in Need For Speed: ProStreet and "True Stories" is featured in FIFA 09. Datarock is also featured in FIFA 10 with "Give it Up."[5]

[Download] New Trent Reznor/Nine Inch Nails - "Theme For Tetsuo: The Bullet Man"
t's always great to start off a day with new Trent Reznor/Nine Inch Nails tunes. Trent wrote a new song that plays over the ending credits of director Shinya Tsukamoto's "Tetsuo: The Bullet Man", check out the origin of how this collaboration came to below:
The producers spoke with Trent Reznor on the phone in January of last year, and Trent was eager to create the track. However, he did not send a song for a long time. When the Tetsuo camp heard about the Wave Goodbye shows, they had all but given up on this track. They continued editing for 7 or 8 months, and showing it at film festivals around the world, finally finishing the film on October 2009 -- without NIN song. But in February of 2010, Trent suddenly sent the song - and the song was, of course, fantastic! They were more than happy to redo the ending again and include the song! (Via The NIN Hotline)
You can listen and then grab this awesome track below. In other amazing Trent Rez news, How To Destroy Angels self-titled EP has a confirmed release date. The EP will be released on July 6th and you can already pre-order the CD from Amazon for $6.98.

PAN-POT
In just a few short years, Pan-Pot —the duo comprised of Tassilo Ippenberger and Thomas Benedix have become a central presence in electronic dance music's most advanced sectors. Their rise parallels that of their home label mobilee, coming at a time when established categories are breaking down and accepted notions of "minimal" (please) are giving way to an unprecedented degree of dynamism on demanding dancefloors. Another mobilee signee, Marco Resmann, was a founding member of the group, but has since left to concentrate on his solo work.
Pan-Pot's vinyl debut came in May 2005 with the Popy & Caste EP (mobilee002), featuring two cuts bursting with gritty, dirty funk, as though they'd scraped all the gunk from beneath the knobs of their gear, packed it into a ball and sent it rolling across the nightclub. Since then, in addition to their contribution to the Extra EP (mobilee005 plus), backing Daniel Stefanik's anthemic banger "The Bells," they've released three more EPs on mobilee (Obscenity, mobilee005; Black Lodge, mobilee012; and What Is What, mobilee023) and two on Einmaleins Musik. Their kinetic, undulating grooves have proved particularly tempting to other producers—Jesse Rose, Lee Van Dowski, Agnès, Barem and Camea have all taken (pot)shots at reworking the group's tunes—and their own remixing skills are increasingly in demand: Pan-Pot have put their immediately recognizable spin on tracks by Misc., Anja Schneider & Sebo K, Tim Xavier, Dapayk Solo, Sweet 'n Candy, and Damián Schwartz, among others.
The release of their debut album marks yet another milestone for the group. Appropriately titled Pan-O-Rama, the record—which has the honor of being the first artist album released on mobilee—offers a 360-degree tour of techno at its most twisted, balancing ominous atmospherics with an unusual lightness of touch, and running classic machine music through silicon's digital wringer.
They may name themselves after a piece of gear, but Pan-Pot's music is ultimately about moving bodies, not knobs. Both live and as DJs, Pan-Pot deliver on that promise with sets that rope together crisply minimal, coolly restrained techno and hot and heavy house. Anyone who's ever played with an analog synthesizer knows that all those pots and dials are there to be touched; Pan-Pot reaches out and touches right back—with a love slap from the heart of the Berlin underground.

*tepuktangan* The Faint *tepuktangan*
(http://img.metro.co.uk/i/pix/2008/08b/TheFaint250808_450x430.jpg)
The Faint is an American indie rock band. Formed in Omaha, Nebraska, the band consists of Todd Fink, Jacob Thiele, Dapose, Joel Petersen and Clark Baechle. The Faint was originally known as Norman Bailer and included Conor Oberst (of Bright Eyes, with whom the Faint toured in 2005). He quit shortly after the band was formed, though the Faint continued to share a spot with Bright Eyes on Saddle Creek Records.
Growing up, Fink, Petersen, and Baechle skateboarded in their free time until Fink developed knee problems, which shifted their hobbies towards making music. The band originally consisted of Clark Baechle, Todd Fink (formerly Todd Baechle), and Joel Petersen. They signed to Saddle Creek Records and released a few singles, but were unable to establish widespread sales. After adding Matt Bowen, the Faint released Media. While touring, Bowen left and was replaced by Jacob Thiele. The next album, Blank-Wave Arcade, had a more dance and techno influenced sound and was an underground hit. Partway through the creation of Danse Macabre, the Faint added Dapose, a death metal guitarist formerly of LEAD. Their next album, released in 2004, was called Wet from Birth.
In May 2008, the Faint announced that they had split from Saddle Creek and that their fifth studio album would be self released under their own blank.wav imprint. The album, entitled Fasciinatiion, was released on August 5, 2008 in the U.S. The first single from the album is "The Geeks Were Right" which was released on Boys Noize Records. It was also announced that the band would tour North America with British electronic group Ladytron during the spring. Their song "Mirror Error" was also featured on season two of US television drama Gossip Girl, and other songs of theirs have also been featured in episodes of CSI: New York. Also, song "Worked Up So Sexual" is featured on The Office season 4, episode "Night Out," played in the background of a club.
Since the release of Fasciinatiion, three of the band members, Clark Baechle, Todd Fink and Jacob Thiele have been quietly, with little advertising, performing under the name Depressed Buttons, playing remixes of other artists, and DJing for various small clubs and venues.

NOSAJ THING
(http://raids.jp/mag/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/nosajthing.jpg)
After cutting his teeth by making music on various archaic computers and programs in his early years, Nosaj Thing is now, without a doubt, among L.A.'s finest musical modulators. His electronic soundscapes and wild beat tectonics play like vignettes that affect the listener's mind as deeply as he hits their soul. Nosaj Thing creates nothing less than the sound mastery of beat driven, experimental electronics from a gifted noise constructor.
His debut album Drift was released by Alpha Pup in June 2009 to unanimous global acclaim. Pitchfork awarded an excellent 7.9 rating, calling the album "gorgeously haunted. sonic Easter Eggs for a thousand listens." The album peaked at 5 on the iTunes Electronic chart, and went all the way to 1 on Bleep and Boomkat. The success of Drift led to Nosaj Thing being featured in magazines such as Spin, Fader, XLR8R, The New Yorker, Nylon and URB. He has received regular airplay on BBC Radio 1 and Los Angeles' KCRW, while his engaging live set has made him a staple of the worldwide underground touring circuit.

NATHAN FAKE

Nathan Fake is 27 years of age (born in 1983), and yes, that is his real name. He hails from that most unlikely hotbed of new musical talent, the deepest, darkest farmer country of Norfolk, UK. Two years ago Nathan, headed for the bright lights and big city of Reading(!), and since then has never looked back.
Nathan exploded onto the scene last year with the mighty 'Outhouse' on James Holden's Border Community label, one of the most astounding debut singles in a long time which has surely now earned classic status, still receiving regular club and radio plays one year down the line. His rocktronica follow up "The Sky was Pink" (graced with a remix by Nathan's main fan 1#, James Holden) looks as though it may even better the incredibly high standards set by his debut, now set for not one but two rereleases, one through France's Cyber, another in the US through none other than Francois K's Wave label.

The Mungolian Jet Set have landed! After a four-year journey through time and space, Paul "Strangefruit" Nyhus, Reidar Skar and their crew have returned, bringing many treasures back for the less adventurous to savour.
The album begins with the burning rush of re-entering the atosphere, hurtling towards the grounding of a beat beneath dualing keyboards, before relaunching through alien rapping, raunchy hard blues, Milesian jazz, atmospheric terror mixed with Zappaesque dry humour, manic DJ spins.

JOY ORBISON
(http://www.thefader.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/joy-orbison-shrew.jpg)
"Cool" uncles have always gotten kids into all kinds of wonderful mischief, but 22-year-old Peter O'Grady from London , better known as Joy Orbison, was especially blessed—he credits uncle Ray Keith with introducing him to jungle and U.K. garage long before he could ever hit the clubs. At the age of 13 he took up DJing and eventually moved into production, beginning with Fruity Loops-crafted 8-bar grime loops before shifting into headier territory that combined his love of house, disco, and dubstep with the atmospheric fuzz of bands like My Bloody Valentine, Josef K, and The Beach Boys.
His debut single "Hyph Mngo" has become the forward-thinking dubstep/2-step tune of 2009, and was followed by "BRKL CLLN" on O'Grady's own Doldrums label, which he runs in tandem with partner Impey.
